Hot on the heels of an Eisner Award win, Art and Franco are back, and they've brought the whole team! Hellboy, Abe, Liz, Roger--everybody wants to take part in the super wacky fun times! When Hellboy's around, things just get ittier, bittier, funner, and sillier! Don't miss out on any of the awesomeness!
This is the cute version of Hellboy, for children. The stories are not-canon as they feature seriously young (like 6 year old) version of Hellboy, Abe, Liz, Johann and Roger. Also heavily sanitized and very childish.
The entire stories take place at the Island of the Rogers, beginning with the team making their way there, meeting Ben the Were Jaguar and Kate, the villainous Nazis coming back to cause mischief. Eventually Hecate and the Baba Yaga come along to join in the fun.
Unfortunately this series was terrible. All the initial charm and shine of Itty Bitty Hellboy is gone and it's just all sorts of boring plus not being really half as relatable a the original series, nor could it inspire any ability to care, or nostalgia. I stopped caring and was just going through the motions to try to finish it.
This entry in the Itty-Bitty Hellboy series is a little different than the first I read. The artwork, writing, humor and morals are all there, but the book diverged a bit by having more of an overarching storyline and a *little* more context. My concerns from the first book are relevant here: if you're not familiar with the Hellboy Universe (and what early reader is, really?), then there's a strong risk of finding yourself lost between characters, situations and relationships. All the same, the majority of kids don't give a rip about such things, and this is definitely a book parents who are fans can enjoy with their own itty-bittys.
An extremely silly adventure in which Hellboy must bring underwear to a tribe of Rogers. It's pure shenanigans and perfect for very young readers of comics.
