POWER GAMES:
Welcome to the future of America. Land of chaos and home of the ambitious...

A botched assassination on the eve of Election Day throws the routine transfer of presidential authority on its head and the American government into chaos.

With Congress and the Supreme Court locked in a constitutional standoff, rabble-rousing state governors fueling the fire and shadowy opportunists pulling strings, the nation teeters on the verge of a Second Civil War.

While the politicos play their chess games, the pawns refuse to sit idly by. Sometimes the tail doesn’t just wag the dog, but can strangle it.

Meet the pawns:
Sergeant Major John Brown, a hard charging paratrooper, is about as political as a potato. He’s the last man anyone imagined inciting a revolution…

Young Sophie Kampbell, a social justice crusader, despises violence in every form. On the other hand, when tragedy shoves her into the arms of the mysterious “Freedom Brigade” militias, she finds that a rifle delivers a lot more permanent social justice than any picket sign…

From the rhetoric-stained halls of power to the reluctant warriors on the ultramodern battlefield, get ready to take an extreme tour of the next major chapter in US history.

Keep low, stay alert, and just maybe you'll survive a tour of duty in Operation: Enduring Unity.

SHOCK AND AWE:
Three months have passed since the United States ripped itself apart.

Shadowy forces continue sabotaging peace negotiations at every turn, while the American Taliban and other insurgents keep fanning the flames of hate and vengeance. With every drop of blood shed, Operation Enduring Unity takes on a life of its own.

In the misguided belief that force alone can end the war, Washington readies the largest military invasion since World War II. Out West, the California-based United Republics of America prepare some surprises of their own.

As the American Cold War turns hot, patriots on each side fight to keep the whole country from burning down. From the high-tech air, land and sea killing grounds to the rhetoric-stained halls of power, prepare for an extreme tour of American history in the making. From sea to shining sea.

THE SURGE:
A year has passed since America plunged itself into a new Dark Age.

The Californian-led United Republics of America, emboldened by their alliance with the independent nation of Texas, launch the first invasion of the United States in over 150 years.

In this storm of hyper-modern war, Sophie Kampbell discovers a dark secret about her militia’s corporate sponsors and their plans to unite the country… or burn it down in the process.

Despite exotic new weapons and strategies, the same heroes on both sides are called upon to make their greatest sacrifices yet, all in the name of Unity.

Operation Enduring Unity: Omnibus Edition

Politics is a dirty word and a dirtier business as the United States' Presidency becomes more of a joke than a distinguished, official office. It's no longer seen as the office elected by the people for the people of the world's most powerful nation.

Impeachment talks trickle out of D.C. first as rumors, then as a heavily argued debates and quickly develop into growing political rallies. Will the President become the next communist leader; America the world's newest dictatorship?

In the blink of an eye, streets fill with run of the mill criminals. Shadowy people are organizing freedom fighting civilian armies and proactive defense programs. Civilians can sign up for advanced lessons. Once completed, recruits receive pay to join more elite brigades, touted as non-profit organizations. This militia provides a new version of 'justice'.

I found this trilogy a bit of a challenge to listen to. Once I felt that way, I had a hard time figuring out just what about it bugged me so much. The book is well-written and the narrator does a great job reading and has several good voices.

It finally dawned on me! It was all the white hot rage, hate, anger, and overall civil disobedience occurring in my beloved United States. These are cities I enjoy tracing to to. I have experienced the sense of historical awe and wonderment of visiting our nation's capital.

Our nation's past leaders had enough foresight to put their heads together and worked hard to establish our democracy was established and has been upheld for centuries!

Book 1 started as a slow listen for me. I wasn't "rivited" or dying to hear more. Despite that, I was filled with utmost curiosity about what hardship the author had in store for us next! This feeling of momentum and curiousity was what kept me going and wanting to complete the trilogy.

I was driven to hear more like the way people turn to look at a car accident they pass on the street. Its scary and awful and just makes people want to look.

The beginning of book 1 was a bit slow and I had to to back and relisten to certain parts in order to better comprehend how the entire trilogy fits together. The book is exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Although war, politics and such are not my usual genre the more I read the more I enjoyed this writer and series. The character development improved as you get deeper into the series and the story rang so true to real life you almost wonder if it is true. That in itself shows just how good a job the writer did. Great believable read!

Okay, I was never able to tell whether this book was tongue in cheek or not. It was a dang good read though and I highly recommend it. The initial premise for the cause of the conflict was highly improbable but once past that it was exciting and kept me engaged until the very end.
