The Untethered Soul, spiritual teacher Michael Singer explores the question of who we are and arrives at the conclusion that our identity is to be found in our consciousness, the fact of our ability to observe ourselves, and the world around us. By tapping into traditions of meditation and mindfulness, Singer shows how the development of consciousness can enable us all to dwell in the present moment and let go of painful thoughts and memories that keep us from achieving happiness and self-realization.

Getting to the gist of it (Or My Untethered Soul Has The Fine Art of Not Giving a...
I normally don't read summaries like this, but due to my limited schedule and the upcoming book club meeting, I thought I'd give this one a go. I fear my review will be as short as the book, but I owe the writers at WiseMinds that much. I now have a general sense for the source material, which feels like several other "self-help" books my club has tackled over the last three years. These books have ranged from a joint work by Bishop Tutu and the Dalai Lama to the (in)famous "Fine Art of..." to a few I no longer recall. "The Untethered Soul" is similar with its detailing of how one must free themselves of things which 'clutter' our lives while breaking us down bit by bit, and the summary got to the root without pages of exposition. You do not read this for a deeper understanding - you obtain the actual book for that. This is like Cliff Notes, or as the title says, 'analysis and key takeaways.' I was able to make a few highlights and notes; jotted down several observations I'll bring up during what will likely likely be another lively discussion, and move on to our September selection. I hate that I didn't have the time to devote to the original's several hundred pages, however, considering that even the summary points resembled what I recall from our previous books, I doubt I'd return to the actual "The Untethered Soul." My appreciation to the WiseMinds for taking on the task.
UPDATE (August 14, 2019) As my book club is tomorrow, I decided to do a re-read the book so I'd have a better grasp when we do our meeting. Among the notes I made to myself are ones which are part of my own daily devotional: "Just because this thought exists, doesn't make it true" and "No weapon formed against my mind shall prosper." I can't add much more.
This book was recommended to me and I was thankful when I found the summary as my time is limited for personal reading. I found the summary layout made it easy to translate the main ideas of the book. Some of the topics I found helpful where the unconscious track, chi, fear, death an TAO. I’m aware of all these but the author discussed in a revealing way that lead me to a deeper understanding. I would recommend. Thank you!
I never gave time to read and I started untethered soul 5 times over a 2 year period..this book was so quick and clear it inspired me to continue reading where I left off and that instill carried what I read before from the actual book. Thanks so much. God bless.
This was a a quick read that gave me more information and in sight into the actual book- not sure if it is an actual replacement. I think more grounding would be necessary.
Loved this book, I found it makes me think deeper and consider different alternatives. Well written and each chapter takes a step deeper, it inspires change in behaviour. Difficult subjects like death is easily discussed.
The summary leaves you wanting more! I can't wait to read the book! Highly recommend this author if you're trying to better yourself and live a happier life!
