When paired with coding tutorials, this book is helpful by explaining the meanings behind some of the fundamentals in HTML. A good tool to get started with for anyone learning web development.
Solid intro text for learning about the basic structure of HTML - however - it is extremely basic. If you have ever built a webpage, even from a basic tutorial, you will glean better context for HTML and it's elements, but little in the way of new concepts.
My rating: 4.5 stars Audiobook narrator Tony Fatania rating: 4 stars
I enjoyed having both the audio copy and written copy of this book. It was nice to have “someone read it to me” but I liked having the documentation that I could fall back on.
I thought this was an excellent quick start guide as it really does touch on the main, important, beginner topics of learning HTML. There is also a part that mentions a little bit of history and back story of HTML that I enjoyed and I thought added value to the book. The little notes on the sides of some of the pages are very handy and help explain things in a different way, thus giving more backstory and how to handle different options.
The best part about this is that the entire “lesson” is focused on accomplishing one thing and something that most people will do in their professional lives – crafting a CV (or a resume). It may sound like “really, that’s all it does?” but in reality, this book is perfectly constructed at explaining all of the different concepts of what you need to know and how to build on what you already have.
It seems that every learning resource for HTML is different and usually good in their own way. This quick start guide helped me to craft a nice looking, web-based resume (or CV) that I will be using for my personal info!
The narrator did a great job of reading this book and being very clear with his voice. It’s hard to fully judge this kind of reading simply because there are no character-differences and there is no reason for voice inflections. In any case, he was the perfect voice for a technical guide.
If you want to have a true quick start learning guide to HTML, then this audiobook combined with the written content gives you double the training with it being audible and visible. You will have a better learning experience this way.
The only thing that I would change is maybe with the written portion. I would think that it would be helpful to block out the code text a little differently and maybe even add some color to it to help denote things better.

HTML Quick Start Guide is a basic overview of HTML. It is straightforward and easy to follow. The audiobook allows you follow along with the reader to build a very basic CV using HTML5. The instructions are simple and easy to follow along. The audiobook comes complete with the PDF version of the book. The PDF is especially helpful for visualizing the code as some of the reading of the code can drag on. If you are not actively typing code while listening to the audiobook, there are whole minutes of code being read that can be skipped. The PDF companion is easier to reference for these sections.
The reader has a light British accent that is easy to understand. The PDF companion is laid out well and offers good visual reference.

Good beginner's guide. Assumes you don't know very much to start with, and for that reason doesn't go very deep. But, it gives you plenty to start writing web pages on your own. Does not discuss publishing.
