A "CHEEKY"

High spirited Lucinda Alden had been the belle of the season until her parents urged her to consider the attentions of the suitable Mr. Mooten. He was on the brink of proposing when Miss Alden's dinner conversation took a shocking turn. Returning home in disgrace, Miss Alden must face the consequences of her actions. Will this cheeky young lady be redeemed?

This Regency novelette contains six short chapters. Estimated reading 45-60 minutes. The author is currently working on expanding this story into a naughtier novel, to be titled "Beyod Blushing." For more details, please visit the author page for Hadley Ellis.

Please note that this is a "CHEEKY" Regency novelette. Unlike traditional Regency Romance stories, Bringing Beauty To The Blush contains "cheeky" scenes in which an adult female consents to being birched and spanked. If you find the idea of such activities to be offensive, then please do not read this story.

Unfortunately, this is probably not the best representation of Hadley Ellis' talents. The story itself is too brief with no character development or plot progression, and while those are not necessary for a short story here they would have helped immensely.

And while I loathe long-winded and unnecessary descriptions there is also the reverse which is not enough description to bring the story forward.

As for the spanking scenes, they are not hardcore erotica and were never advertised as such. Though I do agree that character history and development would have helped immensely.

I do hope the continuation is a novella or novel length story to bring historical spanking's to those of us that enjoy such.

My Rating System:

Cute but not as dirty as I would have liked

This is a short historical spanking story. The parental spanking was non-erotic, which was good. The following scene was nice and heightened the tension. However I was very disappointed in a quick summary for the remaining scenes.
The language, manners and setting felt accurate. The writing was good, but the POVs were all over the place and got confusing. Would have liked a chapter break when we changed views.

I was actually kinda disappointed, not because this book was not good but for the exact opposite, it was really good with a lot of potential but it was really short I actually thought for a second that maybe i missing pages, it was really good and hot and sexy historical and would have made a great long Novel I'm hoping there is a another book to follow this one because it was amazing and the writing was really good, anyway I wanna say thank you Hadley that was a really goodbook.

Lucinda Alden is being pressured by her parents to accept the soon-coming proposal of suitable Mr. Mooten. However her outrageous dinner conversation in the residence of Lord Barret, a relation of Mr. Mooten, quickly assures that any proposal will no longer be coming her way. Lucinda must now redeem herself, and gain the favor of the Lord Barret or ruin her chances of accruing a suitable husband forever- but now she wants Lord Barret for husband.

I have strongly mixed feelings about this story. I call it a story because in my opinion it is too short to be called a novel or a book. While I love the idea of the story, I cannot say I particularly loved the story itself.

For one I feel as if the story is so short, and that the author could have done much better with her material if she’d lengthened the story line. While reading the story I realized that Lucinda Alden is a spirited young women, who is too prideful, intelligent for her own good. She obviously said something during the dinner held at Lord Barret’s home but if we knew what it was that she said we might better understand her actions, and the consequences she later faced.

I felt like the whole story was too fast paced and we weren’t able to accurately understand both the main character’s feelings. For example, we don’t know Lord Barret’s point of view, which I feel is essential given his actions. .

Also there’s not really much of a climax to the story. The romance between the two characters is not only very fast, but the author totally disregarded potential disagreements between all the characters that could/should have taken place due to this romance.

Another thing that made me not satisfied with this book is that, when I learned the book contained spankings, I was very interested. However the spanking scenes are really tame, so much so that I cannot even consider shelving this book into my erotic shelf.

Personally, I feel that due to the limited length of the story, the author has left out a lot of material, which should have been used in order for this story to reach its full potential.

This book was provided to me by the author for read and review

Honestly, I was expecting a lot more from this book as spanking stories are my favourite.
This book is a quickie and the settings is historical-ish. Personally for me the spanking scenes were quite short, not really erotic and a little *not detailed enough* which gives me the feeling of
huh, is that it? (which I still have after reading the whole book again)
and
MORE PLS!!!

That being said, I liked the spanking scenes where they are easy to imagine unlike bdsm novels where you have to reread to imagine the position (eg) of the main character.
The part I liked the most in the whole book is the last chapter which is in my opinion the most interesting, and sexy part in the whole book

still liked the book thou because duh its a spanking story and so 3.5 stars from me
Thx again to the author, Hadley for providing me with a copy for the book

This wasn’t a bad little story at all. What I’d consider a “fluffy” historical romance (although this time around the language didn’t feel too overdone), it gave a “fun and frolicky” side to the period, with an all-too-feisty leading lady.

Unfortunately, because of its length, it brushed through scenes and details quite quickly, but there is apparently supposed to be a series created around this. Based on the author’s prose and general writing style, that’s something I’d definitely be interested in!

Final rating: ★★★☆☆ – Sort of liked/OK (I'd actually rate it more towards a 3.5 stars, making it between an “OK” and a “liked”)
