The lion shifter finds his mate!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💜💖
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: ☺️🤓😟😙🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Mae - She is a fifth-year senior in college and she lives with her best friend Alice. They are both Supernatural and Mae was born out of a breeding program. She is a mix of a bunch of supernatural characteristics. Unlike Alice, who is a succubus, Mae doesn’t know what she is or can do. Though she does know that when she sings or hums, it affects men in odd ways.

The Hero: Corbin - He is a captain in the Immortal Ops, Psi-Ops program. He is a lion shifter who hasn’t dated in about a century, though his mother likes to try to set him up every now and then, so he finally agrees to go out with her latest setup. Her name is Mae and she is a senior in college.

The Story: On the day Corbin was to meet Mae for their blind date, he sees a beautiful woman on campus with dark hair, glasses and wearing a yellow dress. He is affected by her but doesn’t know why. He then goes to meet Mae, but on his way, he is called away by his work and can’t make the date. Meanwhile Mae and Alice go to where she is supposed to meet Corbin and both are kidnapped by the company, an evil enterprise that kidnaps, breeds and sells supernaturals.

Corbin and his team are after the Company, and they do their best to release any supernaturals they find. However, on their most recent mission, two weeks after the failed blind date, Corbin finds out that Mae is one of the captives and that she is the same woman he saw in the yellow dress. He is determined to find her and save her as he now knows she may be his fated mate.

The story was good and I really liked the world building and character development. I don’t really understand how these Mandy M. Roth audiobooks work, they are all very short (< 5 hours) but they say they are unabridged while the books are like 350+ pages. Other books similar to the same running time are only about 150 pages, so something is strange there. But the story felt complete and I did like it. It was told in dual points of view and narrated by Mason Lloyd who is terrific.

Corbin and Mae

The plot was Okay but it was much hurried unlike the others books in the Immortal Ops Universe but its still addictive 😏.. It had fewer action scenes and had lesser banter from the team .. I just wish there was more time for Corbin and Mae to get to know each other..

All in all still a good read and will still read more from the series ... 😊

When I hear the name Corbin I immediately think of Bruce Willis from the fifth element. Let’s just say I was into this book in an unhealthy way and finished it in one sitting in 2 hours. Woah 😳!! I’m in love 🥰 with Madam Roth.

This is just another phenomenal book forth of the four book series. Again Ms. Roth pulled it off as she always does, each page is a testimony to her expertise as a writer.
Yes, I do recommend this 351 page Must Read Book, believe me you can't put it down, you just fly through the pages.
Mae Bertelot, mother's friend wants her son to go on a blind date and Mae's mother wants her to go too. What a waste of time neither wants to go on a blind date. Waiting for over a hour Mae is so mad at the douchbag she doesn't see the men who kidnap and drug her. Going in and out, never staying awake for a long period of time, she tries to figure out where is she.
Captain Corbin Jones is a Lion Shifter and head of his Paranormal Agency. Corbin is used to being in command of his men. But today he is meeting a University Student as a blind date his mother set up. While walking to meet Mae his smells and see's a work of Art with two legs. Having to leave before he sees her, he takes on a mission. Two weeks later he finds out that he was kidnapped and they are trained to pinpoint where she is. The more he looks at her picture he realized who she is to him he has to find her NOW !! There Will Be Blood!
Without a doubt you need to read this book it is fantastic I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

Me-oooow! Captain Corbin Jones is a hot Alpha- Lion shifter who makes you want to purr!

Haven’t read the PSI-Ops books yet? Your missing out! If you love sexy alpha-shifters, spirited heroines, snarky humor, and intense action this is the series for you.

I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review and I couldn't put it down!

Captain Corbin Jones is focused on his job and keeping his team of Alpha-shifters out of trouble, he doesn’t have time to go looking for love. He agrees to go on a blind date to appease his mother, who desperately wants to see Corbin settled down. Duty calls, Corbin must head out with is team and has to cancel his date last minute. Little does he know that Mae, the woman he was on his way to meet, is the woman he is destined to be with. When he didn’t show up for their date she was left unprotected and ended up getting kidnapped. Corbin’s shifter side kicks in and he is hell bent on finding his mate.

Mae Bertelot, supernatural aspiring artist, can’t seem to keep the visions of the perfect male from her mind. Letting her muse run wild, she has sculpted every detail of her mystery man. Mae would much rather meet her vision than the one she been set up with on a blind date, Corbin Jones. While waiting for Corbin, who appears to be a no show, Mae gets kidnapped. She finds herself kidnapped and being auctioned off to the highest bidder. Waiting for a rescue Mae finds herself drawn to a fellow prisoner, is ripped male specimen and looks exactly like her sculpture.
When Mae finds out just who this prisoner is, Corbin, can she trust him not to stand her up again? Can Corbin control his inner beast from claiming it’s mate long enough to find a way to free and himself from their captors?

I was given this this book in exchange for an honest review and let me tell you wowazer this book will not dissapoint, I couldn’t put it down!! I have read all of Mandy Roths books and I love everyone of them. If you haven’t read this series your missing out! Now I can’t wait to see who the next PSI-Ops book will be about.

Mae was just an aspiring artist trying to get through college, and being set up on a blind date wasn’t her idea of fun. So when her date stands her up she ends up kidnapped she blames the jerk who was a no show.
Captian Corbin Jones is hot hot hot!! He is more worried about his team an his missions than going on another blind date his mother set him up on. On his way to the date he is drawn to a beautiful woman and wants to go after her, however he ends up getting a call for another mission and cancels his date. Little did he know the woman who he was attracted to was supposed to be his date, and now she is missing. When Corbin realizes that the girl he was supposed to meet was Mae he flips his lid and goes into full beast mode to find her and bring his mate home. When he is captured by the same men who took his mate will he be able to save his mate before its to late and get out of the situation he has landed in?

I love this series by Ms. Roth and I was not disappointed by her treatment of Corbin. He is the leader and so calm and cool. I really enjoyed seeing him lose his cool. I also enjoyed seeing his men protect him when they aren't so sure he can protect himself. Ms. Roth shows us such and likeable side of Corbin. He loves his friends and his mother. And while he is fearsome he respects his mother and admits she scares him. But finding his mate was unexpected and facing the prospect of losing her is terrifying. But Corbin and the guys will do whatever is necessary to protect not only Mae but the others being abused. This story showed us another side of the leader of the unit and I enjoyed seeing the softer side even and I adored the strength of his animal. With Act of Command Ms. Roth stepped up her game and gave us a story full of strong character development. It showed us more than the strong animalistic side and showed a more human/emotional side to the men we have come to know and love.

Wow, I have been waiting for this book since act of mercy. I will let you know right away that it exceeded my expectations. Which is very hard considering how high of a standard I set for Mrs. Roth. This is a story about Corbin and his mate. There is adventure and humor. It continues in the story line with the corporation. You are introduced to new characters, and are able to find out some about some missing characters from the past. I hope that this world is continued for a long time. Loved it. Recommend it.

Well worth a second reading

Fair warning people… I am notoriously bad at remembering names. This is true of real life people let alone characters in books. So, I’ll be honest with you all. This little memory issue has nothing at all to do with whether or not I actually remember a person or the characters in a book. I’ve looked at someone I have known for many, many years and totally spaced their names. Talk about embarrassing, but such are the vagaries of age and disability. Now, on the other hand, put a synopsis in front of me and the plot and storyline come rolling back in blazing colors. So, some of you may be asking what the heck this has to do with the price of tea in China or Act of Command, as the case might be. The reality is I read the book a bit over a week ago and got so busy with life and catching up with posts on the site, I was unable to write my review right away. So, rather than just look at the synopsis and wing it from faulty memory, I decided to relisten to the story. Let me tell you it was just as good the second time through as it was the first.

Act of Command is the fourth para-military romance in the Psi-Ops series. The Psi-Ops series, in turn, is a spin-off of the Immortal Ops series by Ms. Roth. I have yet to read all the books in the two series. Those that I have read have been excellent. I totally love the blend of paranormal shifters, fae and the like with the romantic suspense inherent with para-military romances. Ms. Roth is quite talented at tales with this blend of romance, passion, danger and intrigue in whatever length format she chooses to write.

The Psi-Ops series arc has the team of paranorms up against an organization that had been capturing, experimenting on and breeding people of different origins. Needless to say, they aren’t willing participants. At the same time, you have other groups jumping into the slave trade market. In this particular tale, Corbin Jones is the commander of an elite group assigned to recover paranorms and shut down the organization behind it all.

Corbin is a lion shifter that has unparalleled control of his animal which makes him perfect for command. He’s not a youngster and that means he’s been at this game for many a year. But it doesn’t matter how old you get to be, parents always see you as their baby and have a tendency to butt in with their adages on how you should live and who you should marry. Like a repeating cycle, it’s Corbin’s time to once again deal with a mother who is set on finding him a mate and getting herself some grandbabies. Corbin isn’t so much opposed to finding his mate as he is to the choices his mother has come up with in the past. So, you’ll have to excuse him if he isn’t all enthusiastic at her latest attempt to match him up on a blind date. He’s crossing campus to meet his date thinking how fortuitous a call from his team would at the moment so that he could avoid the date when he scents the most divine woman… then he sees her. Now, what’s he to do? This couldn’t possibly be his date. Well, he doesn’t have a chance to find out because think it and it happens… he gets called in to do an extraction and has to cancel his date with a quick message. Out of sight, out of mind would be a nice adage if Corbin wasn’t left with the lingering memory of her scent.

May is an art major in college. She was adopted as an infant by a paranormal couple and has no real knowledge of her heritage. The one thing she does know is that her tendency to sing has a disastrous effect on the human male. She rooms with her best friend, a succubus. So while May steers clear of the male gender, her roommate is the extreme opposite. Now May’s folks have asked her to go on a blind date with their friend’s son. Note, this is after sharing a picture of her sculpture with said male’s mother. May has no clue that she has sculpted the very image of Corbin… nude and to the most exacting likeness including his very prominent attributes. Then said male stand her up. Were that not bad enough she is kidnapped by nefarious paranorms with the intent of breeding and selling her.

To tell you more would be to spoil the plot. Needless to say, you have a dangerous situation and a rescue to attempt. The connection between Corbin and May is instant and overwhelming. It’s also damned hot. I really enjoyed Corbin and May as well as all the secondary characters. I’m looking forward to picking up the rest of the series and those that come after this one. If you like danger and action with your paranormal romance then this series will definitely strike a chord.

The King of the Jungle Tamed by a Siren's Song...

**I was graciously provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.**

The focus of the latest entry into the PSI-OPS series involves lionshifter Capt. Corbin Jones (Operations coordinator/leader of PSI-Ops Team Five) and Mae Bertelot, a college student majoring in Art. Corbin’s mother Collette wants to see her son happily mated and every few years, she insists on meddling in his love life. This time around Collette, along with Mae’s mother, have arranged a blind date between Corbin and Mae. When Corbin stands her up and misses their date, he sets off a chain of events that have dire consequences for both Mae and himself. Question is, will Corbin and his team be able to save Mae in time before “The Corporation” can follow through with their evil plans?

Mandy Roth has written another fast paced, action packed, love story that was a pleasure to read. Every book introduces new characters, players, and unfortunately victims in the never ending battle against "The Corporation." This shadow organization and it’s minions are responsible for committing heinous crimes against paranormals and humans all over the world.

In addition to Corbin & Mae, we meet Alice, (Mae’s unique BFF & roommate) and Brad, a lycan & former Navy Seal who is a prisoner at one of the Corporation’s facilities run by Felix, a very nasty vampire. Ezra and Caesar who are guards at the facility are also involved in the intrigue and suspense that plays out in this adventure. Striker, Malik aka Tut, and Boomer are back and they provide some of the funniest moments such as their brief discussion on how to distract a big cat like Corbin and who gets the honor of doing it! There is also an incident involving Malik that is simply hilarious and I would love to tell you, but NO SPOILERS from me. I only wished the story would have been a little longer as I am left with more questions about certain events that hopefully will be answered in the next book.

This was a fantastic read, a page turner really, that I couldn’t put down and finished in one sitting. If you have been following the series or are a fan of Ms. Roth’s work, I highly recommend this book. If you aren’t reading this series, you are missing out on a phenomenal group of alpha males who have banded together to fight the good fight while finding their soul mate who completes them in every way. I cannot wait for the next chapter in this series, so PLEASE write a little faster Mandy because you have done a wonderful job of leaving me on the edge of my seat and I Thank You!!

PSI-Ops is back with a bang! Corbin has been more of a talked about character in the books so far, we've only seen little glimpses of him. But ever since his hair "accidentally" went pink in Act of Mercy, I've been dying to see what happens to him!

Corbin is a lion shifter and leader of the assorted shifters that make up his team. He's British so he gets stick for that as well as being pernickity and a straight arrow. But when he gets grief from his mother about settling down with a mate he does what any alpha male worth his salt does, he does what his mother tells him LOL. But when he catches a whiff of something akin to perfection whilst waiting for his blind date, he realises he doesn't want to settle for second best. When he gets called away on a mission he thinks he's had a narrow escape.

Mae has been seeing nothing but lions and a particular image of male perfection for a while. She even sculpted this mystery man and animal. But when she gets set up on a date but catches sight of man who pretty much is her mystery Alpha man, she's consoled by thoughts of him when her date doesn't turn up.

But when his search for his mate and his latest mission intersect Corbin finally loses his cool and pretty much becomes a berserker!

There is plenty of action, lots of Striker (hey I'm Scottish I love him with a huge bias!) lots of little flashes of out favourite PSI-Ops couples giving Corbin advice! We also see what happened to some of the secondary characters from other books (Remember Brad?). But Corbin and Mae are a brilliant match and Mae has some pretty unique skills (she's defo not a shifter!) Snappy dialogue and wonderful action and passionate encounters all merge into a wonderful confection!!!

I feel like I have been waiting forever for this book and it is finally here. Mandy doesn't disappoint! We finally have Corbin's story. Corbin is the leader of our lovely PSI team. He is an English lion shifter who is afraid of his non-shifting Mom over in England. He cannot tell her no. His Mom has set him up on another blind date and he doesn't really want to go, in fact he is hoping to be pulled away from his date by being called to work. Mae knows that she isn't human but doesn't know exactly what she is or what her powers are. She knows that if she sings, she can make men go insane. Mae is being set up on a blind date by her parents and when she is stood up (by Corbin) she is abducted. Corbin who had his wish granted, had to break up a sex-trafficking ring over in the middle east. This last mission hit his team hard. Two weeks later, they are still feeling the affects but hear of a similar ring right in their own backyard. He realizes that Mae, is his true mate and was taken the night that he stood her up. Will he be able to save her in time? Will she forgive him for standing her up? This is a hot, action packed story. It is a must read and I highly recommend reading the series in order. I absolutely love the world that Mandy Roth has created and cannot wait until the next story is released.

The PSI-Ops is my favorite series from Mandy Roth and I have been especially anxious for Corbin's story since meeting him in Duke's book (Act of Mercy). Corbin is a lion shifter and leader of the PSI-Ops team. He's all about work and doesn't have time to date but his mother has other ideas. She wants grandchildren and is determined to set him up on blind dates in the hope that one will be his mate. Before he has a chance to meet up with his mother's latest blind date attempt Corbin is suddenly called away for a mission. Little does he know is that his date to be is his mate and that she will be kidnapped shortly after he leaves.

Act of Command has plenty of action, humor (who doesn't love Striker?) and smexy times. We also get to meet some new characters that I can't wait to learn more about. So if you love drop dead sexy alphas, sassy heroines and naughty smart mouthed supporting characters then I highly recommend you grab a copy of Act of Command ASAP!

Mandy M. Roth has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Mae and Corbin. Corbin has been set up on a blind date by his mother. He is on his way to meet Mae and he sees a woman in a yellow dress that he is attracted to. He receives a phone call and told that his boss is in the office and Corbin needs to come back. Corbin calls Mae to let her know what happened and that he would get with her to set up another date. When Corbin gets to the office, he and his team are sent out on a mission. They are gone for two weeks. Mae has giving Corbin an hour to show up and when he doesn't, she leaves. As she walks from the restaurant, she is kidnapped. She has been kept in a cell for those two weeks. Corbin and his team are back and now he is being told that there is a trafficking ring in their area. He is told that the woman that was taken was Mae and shown a picture of her. She is the same woman he saw the night he was to have his date with Mae. Now he is upset with himself. Laney and Mercy have been given some information to see if they can come up with anything from it. They have found some possible places in which Mae could be held. Each of Corbin's team is given an address to check out. Corbin is almost to the address he was given when he hears a female voice in his head asking for help. It continues and tells him that he is going the wrong way. When Corbin gets to where he thinks he is needed, he runs into trouble. He is shot with a couple of darts and he goes down and taken. His team is now worried since they haven't heard from him in a few days. Laney and Mercy have gotten a good idea of where he was last from the GPS in his Car. They all go to see if they can find him. It takes a while to find out where he is and then the guys make a plan to get him out and anyone else that is being kept there. Malik tells Boomer to set some charges for twenty minutes. Striker and Malik go in different directions looking for Corbin. Striker comes up to a room that has had the door pried opened and a greenish smoke coming out. Malik comes around the corner from the other end of the hallway. He asked, "Was that the captain's roar I heard?" Striker points to the room and tells Malik that Corbin was in the room but whatever the other stuff was it burned to breathe it in. Striker goes into the room feeling along the wall and when he feels something like a panel with buttons, he pushed them all. In an instant, there was a liquid that didn't smell like water and then the exhaust fans came on and cleared the smoke out. What Striker and Malik saw had them worried about Corbin. There were guards on the floor and they were dead and the one's still standing were scared of what they were witnessing. Corbin was in a partial shift and his eyes were red. He was in the throes of bloodlust and it was bad. Malik raises his weapon up and aims at one of the guards. Striker had looked around the room and he sees a woman on the floor, but it is not just any woman but the one he saw in the pictures at the dorm. Striker lowers Malik's weapon and Malik looks to where Striker is pointing. This is his woman. Do nae take his kills. It is his right. Malik said that they would be able to bring Corbin back from what was happening. About that time there is a loud noise and the building shook. Malik asked Boomer, did you give us twenty minutes. Boomer said, "do you want me to lie?" Corbin has noticed the guys and is looking at them like they are lunch. Striker tells him that he doesn't want to eat them. They are friends. Striker starts to get up and Crobin roars again. Striker tells him that he will stay put. Though he would like to check on the lass. She looked like she needed some help. Fearful for Mae when Corbin looked at her, Striker runs over to her and stands between her and Corbin. Mae starts to come to and pulls on Striker's leg and said, "W-what happened? Who are You? Where is Corbin?" Striker tells her who he is and what happened but as Mae uses his leg to help her stand, Corbin, lets out a roar. At this, Mae calls out for Corbin. Boomer who is in the doorway tells Striker, I don't think she can see him. Striker asks Mae "Can you not see?" she tells him that her glasses are in her cell. Striker tells her that Corbin is not himself and that was due to the fact he thought she was dead. Mae uses Striker's leg to stand and every time she touches him, Corbin gets upset. When Mae is standing up, Striker tells Corbin, look, Corbin, she is alive save and sound. See. Mae looks in Corbin's direction and asks "What is wrong with him? Has he been shot?" Striker tells her that he had been shot but it didn't bother him. Mae calls out to Corbin saying Corbin please, I'm scared. I need you. Corbin hangs his head down and the next instant he is back to himself. Striker, Boomer, and Malik are shocked to see this. It just shows how powerful Corbin is. Corbin starts to go to Mae when Striker tells him to look and his face and hands. They are covered in blood. Boomer tells him that there is a sink in the corner. When he is clean, he goes to Mae. Mae is being held by Corbin when she yells "Help" as Corbin goes down. There is another boom and standing in the door is a man that Striker has not seen in years. It is Ezra, an undercover agent for the Shadow team. Ezra has Mae's glasses and he gives them to her and tells the rest that they need to get out of the building. He leads Mae and the rest out. Malik is the one that carries Corbin out and Mae keeps looking back to see if he is okay.
Will Corbin make a full recovery?
Will Mae stay with him?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend this book to anyone.

Corbin has always intrigued me since he was first introduced. He is strong, controlled, and powerful oh yeah and a lion shifter. I love seeing the strong alphas loose control.

This was an amazing addition to the OPs world. Mrs. Mandy has outdone herself this time. We get more of the team, meet a dragon shifter (yes a freaking dragon shifter), and see an alpha get yelled at by his mom. This was a great book and I cannot wait for the next!!!!

I received this book from the author to give my honest opinion.

Mandy you have outdone yourself yet again with this fabulous book from the PSI-Ops/Immortal Ops series. I could put this book down until I knew for a fact that Corbin and Mae got their happily ever after. I cannot wait to find out what happens next in this series because all of the undeniable passion the characters have for each other. If you enjoy primal desire, you will devour this fabulous book.

Of all the books in the series, this is my favourite so far.

It was really refreshing 'seeing' the normally infallibly calm and in control Corbin, lose control in such a magnificent way. This book like all of Mandy's books delivered everything it promised.

My main source of discontent is the lack of 'action' scenes. These scenes are glossed over and my sense of 'vengeance' is not fully satisfied.

I stayed up all night reading this book and it was well worth the exhaustion. This series is highly addictive as it leaves you craving more. I could go on and on about how this book is amazing (it is brilliant), but I have learned the only way to discover the truth is to get the book and read it. I DARE YOU and I guarantee you will not be disappointed!!

I am ready for the next installment in this series now!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I love this series! This is Corbin and Mae's story. Through a series of mishaps Mae is caught and trapped by men who wish to use her. So it's PSI-Ops to the rescue! I love how Ms. Roth is able to combine mystery. suspense, humor and some great romance in all of her stories. A great addition to her Immortal Ops series!

I love this series. And this was a great addition. Captain Corbin Jones is a leader. A man in control at all times. Until now. It was great to see him out of his element. A tantalizing mix of sweet, funny, action, and such yummy heat. Love all the characters and their interactions together. As always I was left wanting more.

It’s good to learn more about Corbin’s other side and to see that a woman can have such a profound effect on his British stiff upper lip.

Definitely a book not to miss!

I could not wait for Corbin to find his mate, Mae only was going on the date to make her mom happy, only to be kidnapped and then to find Corbin brought in to the same place. They want each other and will fight to be able to claim one anotger

Act of Command, Corbin and Mae’s story, the fourth in the PSI Ops series was riveting for me from beginning to end. I so wanted to smack Corbin upside the head so often during this story – then I’d immediately feel bad for that since he really did beat himself up enough once he knew the truth of his actions.

Corbin has been, well, harassed by his mother to find his mate… and to go on a blind date that she’s arranged with a friend’s daughter. Apparently, no one says no to his mother so he reluctantly goes without much enthusiasm… at all. Mae wasn’t any more thrilled but she also was following parental pushing, and perhaps a bit from her friend as well.

With all the crazy Alpha things these men have pulled so far in these combined series, I have to say that I was most angry at Corbin for some of his actions. No, not going into details for that’s spoiler territory but still he really ticked me off. He eventually redeemed himself… but still.

I love the brotherhood of all the division of the Immortal Ops teams. It’s one of the strongest draws of this series for me, and we see it in action again in Act of Command. We also get to see another side of Corbin as he blames himself for Mae’s kidnapping and as he rescues her as well. This strong lion shifter really is a softie when his mate is involved. Sexy as sin goes without saying, but I really enjoyed seeing Corbin being brought to his knees by his love for Mae.

The situations Mae and Corbin find themselves in are intense. We’ll meet some new folks, re-engage with some very vile villains, and watch two people find their way to each other after a rocky beginning. I loved this story, it’s one of my favorites so far… yeah, even if Corbin did (for a while) annoy me.

Now it’s on to the next story – I’m really loving this combined series world and if you haven’t discovered it yet, I would highly recommend you check them all out. So worth it.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription. Yet, these series are leaving KU in November of 2020 and will soon be available on all vendors.

I had to go back and read a couple of other books before this one as I am reading them in chronological order.
I found this just too short and rushed to do it justice.
A lot of new things and missing people are left unaccounted for.
Where was the big connection reveal between Mae and Jane? It was glossed over in one paragraph in the last chapter.
This was just a bit unbelievably silly in places too but the interaction between everyone in the end had me smiling.
But I have to say Striker and his comments and actions had me laughing out loud.
Found Corbin’s actions towards Mae rude, then cowardly stupid.
First by not showing up face to face for their date, even if only to cancel due to work calling. He had already driven two hours to meet her and was right there.
Then, after finding out Mae has been taken to be trafficked, his guilty thinking causes him to lose control.
For everyone’s safety, the team send him off in a direction that will keep him out of trouble.
Instead he senses Mae, tracks to where she is being held and instead of calling and getting the team to back him up, he loses his cool and gets captured himself.
Then we have Mae who keeps eating and drinking the food given to her, though she knows it is drugged.
She cannot see without glasses but is playing with vials of stuff that she cannot read the labels off and also has no clue about what’s in them.
And it just carried on in the same run of stupid actions.
Yes this is the apparent plot line but I found it silly.
I had thought Broken Communication was a farce but this one seems even more farcical.
I liked that Brad was in this, I vaguely remember his name from somewhere and the fact others are working undercover trying to stop these atrocities.
I hope Ezra and Caesar are okay. I am sure Brad and Alice will have their own book.

Books that contain shifters can sometimes come across – in my opinion – as cheesy and strange. Thankfully that was not the case with Act of Command. I was surprised how much I actually enjoyed the book. Corbin and Mae – the two main characters – had real chemistry, despite their differences, and despite the turbulent situation. What could have been easily explained away as being each other’s “mate” and therefore destined, the attraction was not superficial.

Mandy Roth also did a very good job in not creating flat or one-dimensional side characters, instead of making me want to read more about them – which in turn made me compare her to some of my other favorite Authors – Kay Hooper, Emily March, and Maya Banks, who are masters at creating side characters and giving them a life of their own – and eventually their own books.

Still, this book is not for the faint of heart. There is a lot of action, and there is a lot of detailed sex, yet it does not come across as an erotica novel, or as forced. All of the action flowed, was well paced, and not out of place.

Because of the definition that is given in the book about what an Alpha Male is within its Universe, the women in this series and in Act Of Command could have easily been made into a two-dimensional, weak side character, who are willing to play along with whatever their male counterpart wants. Instead, Mandy Roth gave them spunk, and power over their mate, making this book and the series a much more enjoyable read.

Overall, I truly enjoyed this quick read and will continue to read this massive series.

This book can be read as a stand-alone novel, which is awesome, so no cliffhangers here.
