Text Reading and Reflections

Rate this book
With bifurcation of the B.Ed course into a two-year-long course, a number of new subjects were introduced in the syllabus of different universities, one of which pertained to 'Text Reading and Reflection' or 'Reading and Reflecting on Texts'. The change was welcome as, by the new subject, it was thought to inculcate some essential qualities and skills in the pupil-teachers so that they might overcome several of their inhibitions in order to emerge as excellent teachers in their professional lives. This was the reason that this subject was thought by most universities to be mainly practical in nature, but in a few, it has also been included as the core subject, and it has helped to deal with all relevant aspects of this concept. Ordinarily, our pupil-teachers are not given to reading widely, which limits their knowledge disastrously, having adverse impact on their professional excellence. With the introduction of this subject, it would become necessary for all pupil-teachers to undertake study of different types of texts with a purpose of review, analysis and synthesis, for overall interpretation and adaptation. This book will come to their aid greatly as it deals with this aspect keenly. In the present book, we have dealt with all theoretical aspects of the subject in entirety, as required by some universities; at the same time, we have also undertaken a review of the practical aspect of the subject so that pupil-teachers do not run from pillar to post for seeking the relevant material which could be handy to them in dealing with the requirement of the course. This is the reason that we have extensively dealt with all forms of texts, as necessitated by the syllabus of different universities, leaving nothing to chance. Thus, dealing with practical aspect of the subject remains the high point of this book; and we are sure, it will help the teachers, pupil-teachers and common readers to understand the finer nuances of the newly-introduced EPCs.
