When her mother succumbs to cancer, Alyson hopes to finally have a name for the man who sired her. Unfortunately, all her mother leaves her in the will is the nutcracker her mother had obsessed over for most of Alyson's life. Grief and a bottle of wine are Alyson's only companions on Christmas Eve, until she learns her mother's gift is more than it seems.
Noelle has been telling stories her whole life, but only writing them down since 2009. She started with a historical romance set in the Regency, and branched off in other directions for short stories and flash fiction. Her first attempt at erotica (a "short" story of about 12,000 words) was included in the Dancing in the Dark Anthology, edited by Nya Rawlyns.
She's completed her first HR novel, Stars In The Night, and is seeking representation. Other projects include an adult urban fantasy novel, and more historical romance novels inspired by constellations.
I’ve been craving for some Nutcracker Retellings lately, and after getting Kindle Unlimited again due to 2 free months decided to pick up this short retelling.
This is only 18 pages and so I wasn’t expecting much, especially plot wise, but I was hoping for more atmosphere to be honest, I could forgo a plot if I could get a nice, atmospheric setting but unfortunately for me it just missed the mark a bit in that regard for me. I don’t regret reading it but I don’t think it adds anything new to the story.
