Really Good Series

I really enjoyed this series. The story was well developed. The characters were very interesting, likable, and very well developed. There were a few very funny moments that made me laugh out loud. I will warn any English majors that read this series that book two was full of grammatical errors, mostly missing a single word, where it slowed down the reading speed. But I will over look this kind of error as long as the story is good. The cover art looks like a Minbari Battle cruiser from Babylon 5. I also found references to Aliens, Star Trek: Wrath of Khan, and Starship Troopers. The mixed alien crew, where new members were not only given a new chance, but were quickly accepted, added a nice touch to the story. I highly recommend this series and will be looking forward to other stories from these authors.

Did not finish

I hate giving poor reviews but these books are poorly written and boring. The characters are cardboard idiots and the writing style is awkward. It wasn't worth my time to finish the three books. I had previously read the first book and didn't care for it so I don't know why I have this trilogy. I re-read have of the first one and liked it less than the first time I read it. I got through 2 pages of the second book and gave up. Never bothered to look at the 3rd one.

Great Box Set

Carson Mach and his ragtag crew may not be the kind of people you want to run into in a dark alley, but if you know them and are on the right side you'd be lucky to have them on your team. Mach's motivation may be money but I think there is something else going on there. These well written stories show what this crew will do to win. They work as a team. Like a well oiled machine. I can't wait to read more of Carson Mach's adventures.

I Thoroughly enjoyed this space opera. The main characters have their histories revealed over several books not all at once, the shifting intergalactic relationships between species is full of appropriate tensions and symbology. The technology is believable as an extrapolation of current knowledge and speculation. Best of all the stories flow and interconnect. Great fun.

I enjoyed the series. Sadly I might have given it 5 stars but the editing is atrocious. You name it, misspelled words, words left out, words in wrong order, in one case a whole paragraph repeated. I would like to see more from this author but hopefully he gets an editor.

Great read. Carson Mach & his oddball crew really get the job done.
Love a sci-fi space opera that's got mixture of military, politics, different aliens & worlds with story line that keeps you reading to the end.
Got me hooked A.C Hadfield when's the next one????

page turners for sure

This is an exciting box set with fluid writing and well thought out plots. Carson Mach and his crew are comparable to Vaughn Hepner’s Maddox with similar imaginative sci-fi.

Declining rating

The first book is pretty good. Plot okay with minimal character development. The second one is okay but moves slowly. The third is poorly done.

Goes from So-So, To Dumb, To Outright Stupid

The "Carson Mach Adventures 1-3," authored by Mr. A.D. Hadfield, spirals downward, from a so-so "The Atlantis Ship (Volume 1)," to dumb "The Lost Voyager (Volume 2)," to outright stupid in "The Terminal War (Volume 3)." The amateurish writing, inane plot and plot devices, and slipshod editing/proofreading, undercuts any potential merit of the SciFi storyline, and fully ensconces it in ridiculous fantasy.

Set far in the future, humanity has spread to over three-hundred systems, allied with various alien species. Aggressive alien species have been in active warfare against humanity's expansion, and look to subjugate all. The main character (MC), Carson Mach (nicknamed "Bleach"), is an ex-fleet jack-of-all-trades, dismissed under cloudy circumstances, who operates as a special operator "fixer," outside the rules. He pulls together a small, mixed crew, all similar in skills, lawlessness, and disrepute.

In "The Atlantis Ship," the crew sets off the locate and capture/destroy a mythic, monolithic, alien warship, which has suddenly reappeared to attack humanity.

"The Lost Voyager," finds Mach and his crew again searching for a lost ship. The ship is an exploratory mining vessel, secretly tasked to destroy sensitive data in an abandoned installation, while carrying a planetary doomsday weapon.

Finally, "The Terminal War," has the crew on a two-pronged mission: a few head off on a nebulous search and rescue mission on a secret alien planet, while the remainder join a flotilla of Fleet ships, investigating intensive, alien incursions.

In nearly all of the storylines, Mach is basically coerced or blackmailed into the missions by his ex-war buddy, a Fleet admiral, soon to be president. Mach, in fact, pretty much spinelessly goes along, and duplicitously joins in, taking his crew into near certain fatal peril, without informing them, though they are entitled to a vote. The entire scope of backstabbing, double dealings, untrustworthiness, betrayals, that form the author's storyline arc is off putting and inane. The MC's lover is an highly skilled, alien assassin, tasked by his buddy to kill him. And everyone involved openly acknowledges the hit contract-duh! Further, the rampant interspecies romance, sex, and reproduction is not only genetically highly improbable, it is just plain creepy.

The science is absent, with ludicrous storyline assumptions. Plot devices are equally ridiculous, often contradictory, conflicting with earlier storylines. The author's writing is slipshod and sloppy, failing to comprehend continuity and cohesion.

Overall, some readers may accept the multitude of faults and flaws. The rating is generous, as this trilogy is apparently the author's first attempt at publishing.

The "Caron Mach Adventures 1-3 Box Set," is seriously flawed and conditionally recommended. It was fully read via Kindle Unlimited.

I loved this series. First of all Hadfield created great characters. The main hero is my kind of Captain who curses, drinks whiskey and breaks all the rules, but is loyal to his odd crew and always saves the day. Okay, with Hadfield's strange plots, the entire crew doesn't always save the day in the usual way but that is the fun in all three of these books. I was surprised that I was not disappointed in any of the three in this bundle and I recommend them 100%. A great entertaining read at a cheap price, heck what more can a Space Opera fan ask for?

A rollicking good yarn.

Carson Mech, like a combination of James Bond and Slippery Jim Di Griz, with his rag-tag crew of bounty hunters and misfits, does the jobs the CW can't be associated with.

It has its flaws, as any self-published book does, suffering from a lack of professional editing, but on the whole, a remarkable effort and one I very much enjoyed and look forward to reading more of.

True Space Opera

The three books in this collection take you for a trip around the galaxy and back. Carson Mach is loveable hard living hard drinking two fisted hero...or maybe anti hero. You have to judge for yourself. If you are a fan of E.E. "Doc" Smith you will love this. I can't wait for book four.

Brilliant!!!

Each story in this boxset got better and better. Great sci fi action and detail with some dry humour along the way. I can't wait for the author to write more books and find out what (bleach) Mach and his crew get themselves into next. I'd recommend this to sci fi lovers but also any only who loves a good, well written read.

Great set of story's, all intertwined with a lot of action. I would love to see a movie series of this set, it would take a special effects crew a long time to complete but would be a classic.

I highly recommend reading this series but don't do it in the evening as you will be staying up all night trying to see what comes next and will they make it. Great Read

Really enjoyed this one

This book kept moving along without dead spots. I thought the characters were both interesting and relatable. My only complaint is that there is only the three books in the series. I would definitely like to read more Mach books and highly recommend this series to anyone that likes military SF.

Three fine stories

These three books carried the well developed characters easily into their different adventures. Each story could easily stand alone, while combining to a neat total tale. Nice job well done.

Solid space opera

All the usual character archetypes; the rogue, the assasin, the brains, the muscle, and the novice. Trouble ensues. A twist to get them out of trouble. Fun all around.

Entertaining read

A great read from the introduction of the characters to the development of the team that complemented the actions of a unique, unconventional, irreverent but patriotic leader whose resolution of problems result in great stories.
