What would be the best strategy to win the Hunger Games?
What if Katniss was the one reaped instead of Prim, instead of actually having to volunteer for her?
What was the first Hunger game like?
What if, instead of Peeta throwing a burned bread to Katniss, he WALKED up to her and gave her a FRESH piece of bread?
These are just a few of the questions in the minds of the fans of Suzanne Collins. Hunger Games Breakdown is a fascinating look at how vast and deep the Hunger Games world really is with some in-depth discussions of questions you never knew to ask yourself.
This book is the first part of it's series, a must read for all Hunger Games fans.

i had a nightmare my name was reaped for the hunger games so i woke up in a panic and read this book. i didnt get much strategy but it did put me back to sleep.
The book notes this is a dystopian situation, especially with young people killing each other for political purposes and entertainment. Basically, such a thing is totally cruel yet it is similar to the Roman gladiator games although those involved grown ups, not people 12 to 18 years old.
The book notes the series involves a powerful female heroine, Katniss. The book discusses the best strategy to win which involves finding drinkable water quickly.
It also examines some other possibilities such as what would happen if Katniss did not volunteer in place of Prim (no doubt Prim would have died very early.) It notes that the tributes from District 3 were probably not popular because they were geeks.
Another question is would there have been any difference in the result if Peeta had physically given the bread to Katniss rather than just tossing it on the ground near her? The book also examines mistakes (or, better, lack of realistic logic) in the books such as how could the Capitol actually control distant districts?
The book is interesting but I wish it would have been longer with other possibilities considered such as what would have changed if Peeta had been killed early? How was District 13 able to build such a large underground area? Why didn't they send in a hit squad to take out Snow?
By the way, I think the term 'in-depth' doesn't really apply to this book. That would involve much longer discussions.
Only giving it 3 stars because it only started getting into the real meat of the trilogy once it ended. I enjoyed this author analyzing what was the point of Collin’s character and plot decisions and what those outcomes could have been. I enjoyed the breakdown of certain plot mistakes that does not fully add up to a reader- things I haven’t even noticed before as a Hunger Games fan! My favorite point made was how does the Capital still have so much of a hold on all the distracts when they are so spread out. We got the map of the distracts confirmation in the most recent movie Snakes and Songbirds where all the distracts and their resources are all over the continent.
"Hunger Game Breakdown Part 1: In-Depth Discussions for Tributes" by Alan Abram receives a lackluster 2-star rating from me. While the book offered some intriguing insights into the Hunger Games world, it ultimately left much to be desired. One of the main drawbacks of the book was its brevity. It sometimes felt more like a teaser than a comprehensive exploration of the subject matter. The short length left me craving more depth and detail, as I was eager to delve deeper into the various aspects of the Hunger Games universe.
Despite its shortcomings, I did find some aspects of the book to be enjoyable. The discussions on different aspects of the games provided some interesting perspectives and added layers of complexity to the narrative. Exploring these aspects was a highlight of the reading experience, offering fresh insights into the world created by Suzanne Collins. However, the brevity of the book ultimately undermined its potential. While it provided some interesting discussions, it lacked the depth and substance to engage the reader fully. As a result, it left me feeling unsatisfied and wishing for more.
In summary, "Hunger Game Breakdown Part 1: In-Depth Discussions for Tributes" was an exciting but ultimately disappointing read. While it provided some intriguing insights into the Hunger Games universe, its short length and lack of depth prevented it from reaching its full potential. A 2-star rating reflects my disappointment with the book's execution.
