At first I thought the book felt repetitive, but then I realized there were some important points that just needed to be hammered home. The book(s) still feels a bit repetitive, mainly because the same structure is repeated in each chapter and subchapter, but this also makes it a very easy and quick reference, and the second part is just brimming with great advice in the form of concrete examples which are 100% helpful in editing a draft. Recommended if you’re interested in the art of writing fiction. It is perhaps one of the most practical writing guides I’ve read and am convinced it should be very helpful for aspiring writers.
If you struggle with ‘show vs tell’ this book has lots of examples that help you see the difference. I only wish the author had put in an index to take the reader to the different emotions.
This is one of the most helpful books that I have read for improving my writing skills. I believe it might be considered a entry level writing tool for learning how to properly express emotions of your characters, but for me it was priceless.
Ive always struggled with show vs tell. This book was exactly what I've been looking for. Good examples and a lot of emotions, traits included. Considering getting the paperback to add to me writers library.
