Bound by fantasy. Everyone thinks small town Katie Long is the good girl looking for tender romance. All she needs is to find the right man. Katie couldn't agree more.
She too has always fantasized about the "right man." But what she's looking for is one who'll give her exactly what she wants. And everything she needs.
Bound by desire. Joe Carson is that man. A security guard at a local casino, he's the answer to her sensual prayers. But there's more to Joe than even Katie realizes. And more to their nightgames than just master and slave.
Now Katie wonders just how far she'll go with a man who's more than ready to take her...
Gifted with a salacious imagination, NYT and USA Today Bestselling Author Sasha White’s brand of White Hot romance is all about Alpha men and the strong, sassy women it takes to hold them. With a voice that is called “distinctive and delicious” by The Romance Studio, this Canadian author has become a reader favorite.
Since 2004 Sasha has followed her fancy and built a backlist full of sexy contemporary, and paranormal romances with a few stand alone twists thrown in to keep everyone entertained.
Sasha lives in Northern Alberta with her two cats and believes family, and living life to it's fullest are the most important things, so do what you love, especially if that means reading!
I had wanted to read Bound by Sasha White for quite a while, and it always seemed to be backordered or hard to find, so thank goodness Marion was kind enough to lend it to me! It did not disappoint! My only qualm, was that it is written in that oh so dreaded first person, and even so, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
Katie Long is the town good girl. She works at Blacks Casino as a cash girl, and always follows the rules, does everything anyone wants, and never gets in trouble. Until she meets Joe. Joe works security at the casino, and for months Katie watched him, lusting after him, and Joe never made a move. So she does. After some quick thinking and a back office seduction, Katie and Joe begin a dark, sexy relationship. This starts out as just sex, however the more control Katie gives to Joe sexually, the more free she feels in her everyday life.
Katie plans on getting out of her small town and moving to the city... but Joe and their undefinable relationship keep her unsure. She's not sure whether or not to follow through with her plan to leave. Is Joe enough to keep her there?
This book is erotica because she sex is explicit, however the story line takes up more than 50 percent. I wanted to keep reading to find out all about the other things going on in the book, not just Katie and Joe's relationship. Although the sex was hot, the romance was kinda sweet as well... in a different sort of way. I would recommend reading this book, especially if you are into D/s without the pain element.
Erotic small town romance with a HFN. It was more about h's coming of age / changing of tracks, also a woman's self-discovery of her submissive streak and also about the wonderful man who falls for her. However I didn't like that h never admitted that she loved H, I see the series has more books however, maybe they will appear in those books if only in bits and we will learn more about their HEA. I hope so. Technically unsafe romance as h does experiment with another Dom other than H, but I still loved it.
Bound is the third book in a series by Sasha White, but technically the first one in the series. I managed to read them completely out of order. The real order is: Bound Trouble Wicked
Bound is about Joe and Katie. Katie lives in a small town where everyone knows everyone else’s business. She is determined to make enough money to leave and move to a big city. Both her and Joe work at a local casino- Katie as a cash manager, Joe as head of security. Katie does something crazy and her and Joe end up hooking up. Katie finds herself falling for Joe because with him she can just let everything go and he is in control (if you know what I mean ).
I really liked this book and this whole series. It is loosely based on a sex club called “The Dungeon”. The thing I have enjoyed about White’s writing is these 3 books have been completely different. Some writers you know their style after reading a couple books, not so with White. Different each time.
There are 3 reasons why this book did not get 5 stars for me. It shows you how much I really like this book to have 3 things I did not like, yet I still gave it 4 stars. Here they are:
1.It was done in the first person. It was done well, however I never got any emotions from Joe. Think of how it would have been if you had not heard anything from Bastien in “Black Ice”. Well that was almost Joe. Very controlled and cold, and I never heard his perspective. 2.At the end of the book Katie moves to Vancouver and hooks up with Karl (male lead in “Wicked”) and they go to the club. I just spent 250 pages reading about Katie and Joe, and now she is with Karl. I was not cool with that, even for the sake of the self-realization she was going through. It was just one scene, but still. 3.In each of White’s books the male lead tells the female that he loves her. But the female waffles and never says it back. The book ends happy and with them together forever, but I really crave those 3 little words, from both parties, in my HEA.
Katie Long (sub) is out to prove she can be a bad girl. Not to the world but to herself. She seduces "bad boy" Joe Carson (dom) by showing him her bad side. The chemistry starts hot with these two and stays hot. I loved how Sasha White switches between the love scenes (very detailed) and the characters thinking. It really makes you care about the characters and feel for them. There was a bit back and forth between Katie and Joe and this rest of her life but it mainly focused on her and her thinking of her wanting to be with Joe or thinking about when she was last with Joe, things like that. There is not alot of family and friend interaction. When there is the writing is very well written and paced.
I am not drawn to novels about domination and submission but when I first read Sasha White in Kink she made me really think about how someone that never had been put in a sub/dom role and really like it, felt. Hard to explain but I like things that make me think and romantica like this makes you think and lets you feel too. I am glad to have read her in a novella and picked this book as my first full length.
Yeah I didn’t like this one so much. How anyone can take a story about a woman’s desire for Dominant sex- and subsequent having of said sex- then make it feel vanilla I don’t know, but White managed to do it. Plus the hero in his dominance was not sexy at all- just seemed like a man who didn’t like women too much to me. I skimmed most of the book and finished it within two hrs.
What a great book. The story is told from Katie's perspective and Joe is really a great character when experiencing him through Katie's eyes. Katie also faces some interesting life dilemmas (I think you could say she's at a cross-road) in addition to her 'secret desires' that she 'explores' with Joe. This makes her a more holistic and realistic character. I also like that people react to Katie in different ways, and some of the conflicts don't lead to bigger life realizations, they just add to Katie's stress and uncertainty ... like in my life.
I love that the resolution of the book wasn't some sort of big gesture (I really thought Joe would show up in the public room of that club in the end and was rolling my eyes before I even got through the chapter, but thankfully, White didn't go there) and I liked that the book didn't end with 'I love you's. We don't really know what the future holds for Katie and Joe, what we do know is that they are alright, right now. I love when that happens. Seems more realistic.
And finally, it's based in Canada. I am also based in Canada, so there is a kinship there.
I just finished this book. It's really fun. It's a story about a girl who lives in a small town and wants to get onto to bigger, better things, in a big city. Sound familiar? Well in the small town she meets a guy, Joe, who fulfills her every sexual fantasy and more (of course, it's an erotic novel, hello!). Then comes the conflict btwn staying in the small town with her fantastic lover, or move out?? Based on the title "Bound" I was expecting more naughtiness and S&M. The author kept it on the light side. The main character was more Bound in her mind, not so much physically. A FUN , QUICK read. Naughty but not evil or gross. I Liked it :-)
There is some pretty kinky stuff happening at the casino these days. But who can resist a hot guy in a uniform? I do not blame this girl for wanting more from life, and wanting the security guard, who wouldn't? I loved the way this story came together. A lot of this story I can imagine actually happening, and so much was unexpected. The romance is a real sizzler. It is a great read, I am looking forward to more True Desires.
I met Sasha White at a book convention in Canada and although this is not the usual type of book I read, I agreed to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. If your looking for a well written hot sexy read, this is the book for you. Joe and Katie came to life for me and they explored their fantasies together and take the reader along for the ride.
Arc review For honest review. wow this story was hot and I really enjoyed how the characters katie and Joe were in their play to get to know each other. Katie wanted more out of life then a small town and Joe came from a big city .see their story you will enjoy the journey.
One thing to say about this book. It ended on an abrupt note, so abrupt I thought I was missing pages. But other than that I really loved this book. I love ALL sasha WHite's books actually!
This contemporary erotic romance features Katie, who wants to leave her hometown of Chadwick, and Joe Carson (definitely not of Petticoat Junction fame), who has recently moved to Chadwick.
Both work at the same place, a casino in Chadwick, and that's where the story starts. Told in the first person, Katie has been lusting after Joe for some time, and she decides to let out her 'inner bad girl' and entice him as he spends his days there in the surveillance room. She knows he is alone there, and voila! He takes the bait.
Their relationship develops quickly as he takes control. He is a dominant, and Katie soon realizes she likes submitting to his every desire. Not only likes submitting, but going out of her way to pleasing him in all ways.
On Joe's part, he wants this relationship even more than Katie, but what will happen when she moves away? Can this relationship work then? Or will she find another man in her new place of residence? Could this be love or just lust?
One niggling thing is the fact that Katie is very self-centered. Her best friend Jules even points it out at one point. As an example: she wins a huge pot of money at poker, cleaning out all the other card players at this high-stakes game; later, the same weekend, a little setback occurs and all she can say how bad her week has gone because of this tiny issue. Like boohoo, poor little me!
Spicy (read: graphic), erotic situations throughout the novel as well as many of the usual What-the-tuck trends (smirks and winks among them) are there. Biggest issue for this reader were the incredible number of typos (misused words, missing letters, or extra words). Editing or proof-reading (another set of eyes) would have caught most of them.
I was disappointed by this book because it did not deliver what the front cover photo and back cover text promised. The front cover image of a harness and the back cover text of "Master and slave" promised a level of kink that never materialized. After 266 pages, Katie is still the good girl she was on the first page. It took quite an effort for me to finish this book and I suggest that you don't bother.
Katie lives a few hours outside of Vancouver and dreams of leaving the small town where everyone knows everything about each other. In the final stages of planning her great escape, in comes Joe to make her think twice. She opens up to him and they enjoy a few sex games before she finally makes the break and leaves town. This book covers the few weeks they are together, including several story lines that are opened up and then not developed. We are introduced to numerous characters that just disappear.
Worse still, several mini-plots are developed that I really could have lived without. One sub-plot involves Katie's mother, who is best described as typical trailer trash. She can't do anything for herself, like program the VCR, then manages to date every loser in the town. Eventually Katie's mom gets involved with Katie's ex-boyfriend, the guy that popped Katie's cherry no less - That's a horrible plot line.
Since Katie and Joe work in a casino, we get a mini-plot about someone robbing from the casino - But that lasts about ten pages - Then we don't get the conclusion, just Joe telling us he's going to set up a camera to catch them in the act. Lame.
Because there are a few sex scenes between Katie and Joe, this book gets placed in the romance isle. But it's definitely not erotica and should not be confused for a hot BDSM novel.
Thanks, Jen, for telling us this is part of a series, and giving us the order in a previous post:
#1 Bound #2 Trouble #3 Wicked
I liked Bound ALOT! Set in BC (British Columbia, not way back when), Katie works the cash cage in a small town casino. The new head of security, Joe Carson, catches her interest right away, and one day at work, she ******** *gasp* no spoiler!
This sends Katie & Joe's flirtatious relationship into high gear ... especially when Joe turns out to be a Dom - but a kind and loving Dom.
Bound had a nice solid story, I liked the casino setting & goings on. Katie & Joe were more than just sex, with Katie's character was nicely developed. I liked everyone in the story and the secondary stories.
I had read Wicked #3 (Karl, the Dom lawyer) several months ago, not realizing it was a series. (We meet Karl in Bound also.) I liked Bound more than Wicked, which seemed to be more sex, less relationship.
I see that #2 Trouble is on sale for $4.99 at amazon ... hmmmm ...
After Wicked, I was not tempted to read more of Sasha White till Bound unexpectedly came my way. But now, I'd like to try her again :-)
Oh the classic tale of desperately wanting to move away from small town life to the city, then moving and finding out life is empty there and home really is back in that small town.
Despite the plot line not having much of a surprise, White does a great job writing characters that you will fall in love with. Joe is very stern and unapproachable, but he is also drop dead gorgeous and has that whole dominant male thing going. How can you not fall for that! Add to that mix you are not sure what his past is or why he seems so capable of handling tricky situations. Makes you curious right?
As for Katie she might be a little naive but she is young and figuring out what she wants in life. You have to give the girl some points for actually having the guts to make the first move, and oh what a bold one it was. Katie has some untapped desires and is finally figuring out that she found someone to help her with that.
Bound is a quick read packed with hot scenes, great characters, and a little mystery.
This was an enjoyable read of a girl who feared what she wanted as abnormal. I loved when we first meet Katie, she tells the reader what she wants, the darker, grittier side to sex, and how she knows she won't get it -- because it's not 'right'. I loved her meeting Joe, and what Joe brings out in her. Joe is meant to be the distraction, the meeting, the ability for her to ask for what she wants. Therefore, there's a bit more to the story than simply Joe and Katie, there are a few other players (and one bigger one). While I was definitely #teamJoe, I did find that the resolution at the end was a bit too clean, considering there were other players involved.
I enjoy Sasha White's erotic-romance stories, and this one was no different.
All in all a pretty good book! Warning: you may be thrown by the beginning (as I was) because the story starts a couple hours after the couple initially has sex....and so you may feel cheated! The author does go back and describe it, so you will get the story. It feels a little off balance but keep on truckin' because it won't ruin the story.
The only reason this doesn't get five stars is I feel sad for missing the hero's thoughts and feelings. This is solely from the heroine's point of view so you don't get any of his thoughts. He is such a hottie hunk of sex that I wish I could hear what he's thinking!
Sex is hot and story line is fun and entertaining....good book!
Good book by Sasha White. Hot hot hot. I actually liked My Perogative better but this one was good in a whole different way. Sasha explores different kinds of "preferences" in each of her books and she took this one (bondage) all the way. Yes, the editing left a little to be desired but it was easily overlooked as I read some of the better parts out loud to the hubby! Gotta get more Sasha!
Hot, kinky and fun. The author mixes kink and romance in a believable way. I’ll admit it took me a bit to warm up to these characters but as they grew so did my appreciation for them. The story will keep you turning pages but fair warning break out the fan and a cold drink. A gifted copy was provided by author/publisher for an honest review
This book is hot...White hot. I loved it! Bound has steamy but believable sex scenes, characters that you care about and an interesting plot. After finishing it I immediately went looking for more.
Story is great, but proofreading desperately required
This was a lovely story about the lure of the big city to our adventurous heroine. The hot scenes were super hot, and the romance was interesting. Unfortunately, the few typos at the beginning multiply horrendously the further you get in the book. Towards the end I was having to re-read sentences and supply words in my mind that were missing, replace words that were actually impossible in the context, and generally smooth out the whole in order to finish. It left me feeling that Ms. White was only interested in finishing the book so she could sell it. Fair enough - but be aware that with such a lack of care to the finished product, I would seriously hesitate before purchasing a book by Ms. White. I'm thankful that I did not buy this book, but rather obtained it free, legitimately. I would have given this book a higher star rating if the typos were not so profuse.
This is a sweet story about a young woman living in a small town in Canada. Katie is the good girl, running errands for her mother, doing favors for an elderly neighbor, a sweetheart at work. But she feels caged and in a small town everyone knows your business. Katie's goal is to save enough money to move to Vancouver, she wants the anonymity of living in a large city and to take classes to help her find a career.
But in the meantime, Katie wants more, she wants to experiment sexually. She sets her sight on Joe, the new man working security at the casino where she works. He has a dominant personality and she wants to explore the submissive side of herself, a little D/s, but it is very light play, nothing serious.
This was a fun book to read. Katie and Joe start out as an odd couple, but in the end their relationship works out.
Pretty kinky stuff happening between Joe and Katie around a casino. Very Hot and sexy. Loved the way this story came together, I can imagine this kind of thing happening in reality, and so much was unexpected. The romance is a real sizzler. It is a great read, I am looking forward to more True Desires. This was my first read from Sasha White and really didn't disseappointed !!
I read this book multiple years ago and loved it! The sex scenes are hot and there is actual development of a relationship between Joe and Katie. always a sign of a great story, if I remember correctly this was the first time I'd read about Dominance and submission, so if u like well written erotica with a little edge I highly recomend Sasha White and Bound
