This is from The Open University and gives you help in note taking and reading vast amounts of reports in preparation for your studies. To quote from the book it helps you to identify key ideas; extract the information you want; process that information so that it makes sense to you; re-present that information in assessments, using your own words. Otherwise the latter is plagiarism.

It took me a while to get into this as the kindle doesn't show you the diagrams, graphs or sometimes even the texts! I don't know why this happens, I have a friend who also completes the OU short courses for her own stimulation and this happens on her kindle as well. This is the 21st century you would think kindle/open university would have a way round this by now.

Ideal introduction to note taking. Covers scanning and other ways of making notes . The beginning is brilliant but needs more of an

Examples of learning how to learn. However I would recommend this short book to students who want to be good at learning techniques.

a must read for every prospective university student

I needed a refresher on study skills and expectations prior go returning to university and this free book has been invaluable. There are useful activities to complete to consolidate your learning and it is structured in a way which makes it an easy read as well as taking you systematically through each area. Indeed this is recommended book for new or returning students prior to entering the world of academia.
