long said short: a good book
provides efficient practice for the TOEFL PBT in some aspect more than others:

section1-listening: this book gives A LOT of examples (in the practice CDs) which was more than enough for me. But some skills actually made solving the Qs even harder for me, so I ignored them totally.

section2-structure and written expressions: the skills are given in relatively simple and comprehensible way.

section3-reding comprehension: somewhat long and boring, but so is the section in the exam. Not all the skill are useful though.

TWE (test of written English): the book gave some advices that really helped in planning and developing my essay, but yet it didn't help so much.

PS1: as ETS says plainly, no book or course can prepare you just before the exam, what matters is your previously achieved level and practice.

PS2: as of the end of 2012, the PBT TOEFL test will be discontinued. Only one PBT test is left as of this date (Nov 2012). After that it's all going to be iBT (internet based)

Useful book for a TOEFL preparation course. Used it this semester for the first time to teach my students. What's special about this book is that there is already a lot of material available online to go with it (prepared by other teachers).

I didn't solely depend on it, however. I consulted other references to provide my students with more practice on each skill.

Very Simple
Goal directed
nice tips about the exam
alot of excercise
covering mostly all points

If you need just one enough source it will be this book
although I scarcely suggest one enough source for anything in life
but it deserves

I had to bypass most the exercises for time shortage

Longman worked well due to the well-organized content and large number of enclosed vocabulary. I referred to Longman some time ago and it seemed to provide the content relatively close to the real test. Enclosed with each reading part you can find vocabulary or word list as well. The writing part of Longman provided samples and models as well, so you can refer to them. I advise you to take a look at Longman Guide if you want to perform well on this test and improve your fluency in general.

Mi compañero de estudio para el examen TOEFL, con el he obtenido puntajes de 513 aunque no es lo suficiente para cumplir mis metas este me ayuda a regularizarme en reglas gramaticables, mi punto debil siempre ha sido la parte de listening de lo que he tenido una gran cantidad de personas que me sugieren que solo me falta agudizar mi oido con los acentos americanos; a mi parecer es un excelente libro para prepararte para el examen cubre examenes ejemplo muy similares al TOEFL de papel pero sin ninguna relación al de Internet.
Esta vez me dijieron un truco rápido, leer/memorizar/aprender rápidamente todas la reglas gramáticales sin pasar por lo ejercicios, después mentalmente y en un discurso dialogar todas las reglas hasta encontrar un orden y estructura entre ellas, después hacer los ejercicios de cada regla y terminar esporádicamente con los examenes prototipo, es un pequeño tip de estas fechas abril 2016.
Considero que en algunos meses años volveré a abrir este libro del cuál siempre saco un quick-review de las reglas que deberia saber, por el momento me servira para mi examen de mañana.

The book has many detailed skills needed in order to pass this stupid exam (listening , structure , and writing) ,good luck students out there . if you need short consied skills you may also try ARCO incase you don't have much time.
