Today the Christian faith has not only come under attack, but many Christians themselves have become complacent and too willing to compromise their beliefs. Unfortunately Christians are known more for what they are against than what they are for.
"Sara Dormon strikes a blow for Biblical sanity in a culture gone mad. If you can read this book and not be challenged, convicted and inspired, something is wrong indeed." Christopher Smith - Broadway Composer and Playwright / "Amazing Grace"
"Sara has written an excellent book filled with practical and Biblical wisdom to help each of us as Christians 'stand out and stand up for Jesus.'" Clay & Renee Crosse - Clay Crosse Music/HolyHomes Ministries
"I absolutely love the candor of this book. I love each one of the ten commandments ...they are so important to the vitality and richness of our walk with Jesus. ... Thank you Sara for blessing us with your heart to encourage all of us who struggle with our day to day walk with Jesus." Jan Dravecky - Executive Director, Endurance with Jan & Dave Dravecky
Sara R. Dormon is an author, counselor, mother, advocate and Christian. She is known to tell it like it is and in her most recent book, "If You're a Christian and Everybody Likes You.... Something's Wrong" she offers readers a self-reflective journey on what it means to be a Christian in today's society. Sara is also the co-author of the book, "I'm Pregnant...Now What?" and "So You want to Adopt...Now What?" written with Ruth Graham and published by Regal Books.
Brought this book from book recommendations list of another author. This was DNF I couldn’t get passed chapter 2, information was rudimentary. Maybe more appropriate for a new believer. Information was also dated, told readers how Google works
Sara Dormon takes her faith seriously. In IF YOU’RE A CHRISTIAN AND EVERYONE LIKES YOU…SOMETHING’S WRONG, Dormon looks at ten areas (she calls commandments) and how these areas translate into action. Each chapter includes a series of questions for reflection and advice which individuals or small groups can use with this book.
As Dormon writes in the opening pages, “This book is about how we, as Christians, have either forgotten, or have never known, what the commandments of Jesus are, and what our lives are supposed to look like to the rest of the world and to God.” Page 3-4 Later in the chapter on Trust, she writes, “The best way to live out your faith and trust in the Lord is to take steps toward Him every day. Walk to God to walk with Him. He wants nothing more than our live, faith and trust, which leads to obedience, which leads to life.” (Page 89)
Solid Biblical insights combine with practical teaching for every Christian. Whether you are a new Christian or have been a Christian for decades, you will find inspiration and encouragement in these pages. Later Dorman writes, “The whole purpose of this book is to challenge each other to actually live our lives in such a way to stand out and up for Jesus. To live our lives so that others will look at us and say, “Boy are they different,” and have that difference be not only good, but something that attracts others to Christ. If people who know you don’t recognize you and your lifestyle as being Christian, maybe we need to sift our words, thoughts, and deeds through a stronger filter.” (Page 126)
I enjoyed and appreciated the teaching and insights in this book. I recommend it.
A book that tells you to stand up and show your faith against popular doctrine. I won it in a contest and it was an interesting read for those interested and expressing your faith and your true beliefs.
A very well written book about how well are we obedient to God. It really made me think about the decisions I've made in my own life. I have much to go over in my own home and cleanse. Thank you Sara for a real eye opener.
