Brooklyn Prescott is starting to settle into life at The Rosewood School for Academic Excellence. Now that the masquerade ball is over and was a total success (whew!), she can return to her non-party planning life! She’s dating Jared officially now that he’s returned from Japan, and he’s even asked her to read his memoir of his life as a child actor, a great honor for Brooklyn, the wannabe journalist. But just as things seem like they’re sliding into place, Emmie breaks up with Dave, who is suddenly showing interest in Brooklyn. More confused than ever, Brooklyn doesn’t know what to do—stay with the great guy who is obviously into her, or take a chance with the one she’s been crushing on since her first day on campus and risk alienating her friend and roommate? And what about Coach Fleming, who she has to resist every single day at equestrian practice? One kiss starts the ball rolling and a second changes everything, causing a chain of events Brooklyn never could have imagined. As the holidays approach, Brooklyn needs to figure out who and what she is most thankful for. But then who she really is catches up with her and turkey dinners and horse shows are nothing compared to suddenly being faced with a life or death situation. Reading Between The Lines is the fourth installment of The Rosewoods, an exciting new Young Adult series for readers who love fun, flirty love stories.
A survivor of adolescence, Katrina Abbott loves writing about teens: best friends, cute boys, kissing, drama. Her main vice is romance, but she's been known to succumb to the occasional chocolate binge. She may or may not live in California with her husband, kids and several cats.
Really enjoyed this book! I like the friendship between her and Jared and the brewing romance between Brook and Brady and Brook and Dave! I also love how her brother came into to it! Theres also that element of action and danger at the end which was brilliant! Cant wait for the next one!!!!!!
We are back to Brooklyn in this book and the biggest shock, I think, is when her brother shows up and finally lets her in on what he's been hiding. But in addition to that big shocker, are the smaller ones along the way with not only Brooklyn and her relationships, but her friends as well. I still find Brooklyn and Kaylee to be the most relatable characters in the series, but I'm hoping to have more books about some of the other characters in the future.
Still think this series is best for young adults and those who like to reminisce about their own teen years.
Goodness....I hate to give it such a small rating but being that I read b1,b2, skipped Kayla's story b3 and b4 I just really was hoping to get a little more that what I got in book 4. The storyline was good but felt a little rushed and the ending...definitely a disappointment. I like a little thrill but it felt like it came out of left field.
I love these books. Just the right amount of romance, suspense, and comedy. If anything the only trait about Brooklyn (most of the series is about her time at Rosewoods Academy under her alias) that annoys me is her propensity to try and fix everything and everybody. Because of this, she tends to be a little nosey. On to number five
Ok, I’m sooo hooked on this series!! I’ve been able to read jus a few but have thoroughly enjoyed reading about Brooklyn and her gang. I’m exited to have found such an interesting series that grabs you from the star. Looking forward to reading some more.
I Love the characters. People could take a lesson on how to act and be a true friend from them. There is a little drama but that just makes it fun. The ending broke my heart and I hope everything works out.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters are great. I was wondering if the background we got about Brooklyn in the first book was going to come up in the story line. It does and it looks like it is going to be a good twist in the story. I am looking forward to reading the next book.
Yeah, as the title states, you need to read between the lines, to know what people are about. You may think you know someone, but their true life, and the true feelings, may not be what is being presented to the world.
Easy, fun, romantic, and a little bit of mystery/drama. I really like this series and just keeps on reading. Luckily all the books are already published ;)
*Thanks as always to Katrina, the author for giving me an e-copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.*
This newly released installment of the Rosewoods series continues with Brooklyn and her ever-evolving life at Rosewood Academy. She is finally in a relationship with one of the 3 guys that have been so eagerly vying for her interest and heart and now she has finally settled down. However, there are some events that occur which have her questioning if the person she is with is really who she wants to be with for a while. Meanwhile, her brother Robert drops by unannounced and Brooklyn can't help but wonder, "Why is Robert here when he should be studying at Yale?" So many concerns arise within Brooklyn's mind; however, with having to read Jared's memoir, Dave's feelings for her, and Brady's feelings for her, she is left feeling vulnerable and insecure.
Seriously, just OH MY GOODNESS. This book was amazing! I enjoyed every part of it. The moment I received it, I was so eager to continue Brooklyn's story at Rosewood Academy. This book really exceeded my expectations though. There were many things that occurred that I did not see coming at all. While reading the book, my jaw dropped open so many times because of all the surprises that kept popping up. Really, I didn't think that Robert, Brooklyn's brother would appear within the series and I'm really glad he did. I think that he adds a very different dynamic to the girls of Rosewood because everyone else at Rosewood is only interested in the Westwood boys since they're the closest boys within the vicinity and also he is Brooklyn's brother, so that changes the dynamic within Brooklyn's group. I thought Chelly's character was great in this book and was glad that she got more of a role compared to other books that she's been in. It was great to read more of her personal life, even though it was a very small part. I feel as though she's more of the underrated characters in the series; however, her helping Brooklyn throughout all of the events that occurred shows her loyalty and also more of her soft and non-crazed boy side. I also thought the interaction between her and Robert was hilarious and would actually enjoy them in a pairing together. I wasn't really all too sure about the interaction between Robert and Emmie though... I don't know, maybe because I'm not a big fan of Emmie's, I don't hate her, but I don't necessarily like her character; I'm not sure. She's still a good friend to Brooklyn though, and I'm surprised at how understanding she was in this book with what Brooklyn had to confess to her. Then there is what happens with Brooklyn and her array of boys; seriously, I just didn't see ANYTHING coming. Wow, I respect Brooklyn a lot for not dragging or leading any of the boys on. She's such a fierce, loyal, understanding, and straight-forward character that she's great to read about. Her interactions with Brady; OH MY GOSH, so intense and filled with so much angst; ugh I actually got annoyed with what happened near the ending with them. I was disappointed, but I hope that there's more of them in the next installment. Then there's Dave, I'm not really sure what to think of their relationship, but then again, I'm really partial to Brady. All in all, this book was another great read by Katrina Abbott, and that ending was not at all expected. I can't wait to see the rest of the developments in the next installment.
What a great series! This fourth book in The Rosewoods series came back to Brooklyn's crazy life. High school shouldn't be this chaotic...but somehow it always seems to be. She has really had a crazy first semester there at Rosewoods. There is a lot going on in a short amount of time in these books - especially this one. Brooklyn's friendships are being strengthened, but tested. And her up and down relationships with the guys from Westwood are all over the place... Too many spoilers to get into that. But there are new friendships, and all sorts of crazy feelings and emotions. Brooklyn's brother, Robert comes onto the scene and all her friends get all crazy over him. The Thanksgiving fundraiser was a success and there were only a few mishaps. And the kids who stayed around school all got to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner together. Then Brooklyn's life just went nuts. What a cliffhanger this book has! I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

My Review: It had been a few months since I read the previous three books in this series but it was almost nothing to get completely sucked back in, especially since we are back to Brooklyn. While it does get a little CW with a lot of drama and a love pyramid (not even a triangle, we are way beyond 2D shapes here) it still is a lot of fun to read. When things start to get a little exhausting and irritating with the love story part, Abbott does a great job of engaging readers by kicking up the storyline with a whole other plot line that has been hinted at occasionally but never really developed until now. This was definitely one I didn't want to put down. I must say though I am a little irritated that the next full length book isn't about Brooklyn, but about Emmie, even though Brooklyn's story is just starting to get intense and interesting.
The fourth book in the Rosewoods series continues with Brooklyn and her always changing life at Rosewood Academy. There were many things that occurred that I did not see coming at all. The first one being her brother Robert showing up on campus??? He definitely added a different element as we have focused so much before on the Westwood boys. I actually not sure what to think of him yet but I am interested in seeing where Katrina takes his character and with who :-). Then there is what happens with Brooklyn and her array of boys; seriously, I just didn't see ANYTHING coming. The boys: Dave, I'm not really sure what to think of their relationship, as I am totally partial to Brady. and the Brady -- what to say? Love him! All in all, this book was another great read by Katrina Abbott with plot twists, laugh at loud moments and that ending was not at all expected. I can't wait to see the rest of the developments in book 5 - coming in October 2014. There are still so many questions to be answered... I think this is maybe the best book of this series. Still TEAM BRADY!
Oh my god. I couldn't let this book down from the second I started reading it! This books is so familiar yet so different in so many ways. The characters, the schools, the drama, all the same but yet this book is so amazingly unique. The whole time reading, I keep expecting something and getting something else, I keep thinking I know what is happening and again I am surprised! This book with its plot twists and such leave me laughing out loud and wanting for more, I can't wait for the rest! There are still so many questions to be answered... I think this is maybe the best instalment of this series, as the three first books were quite alike. I can't even... I can't... BRADY THOUGH! <3
The book is an easy short read and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for something light and entertaining to read :P
God, my heart hurts for Brooklyn. I just jokingly texted my family had written a book about our/my life.... It’s actually a little creepy not going to lie.
Weather Katrina Abbott would ever admit it, she knows someone who has been through something like this. She writes from too real of a perspective, including getting too comfortable, too scared, and too calm to be making 100% of this up. Perhaps she’s just watched too many movies or read a lot of books for research, but damn. Even the part where Brooklyn feels bad about her name. You get so used to it you almost forget it’s not actually yours... then it just adds to the lies and the complications of trying to be a teenager navigating a terrifying world.
Otherwise, as usual love this series and I’ve now read the first four in two days and plan to have the series done by the end of the week!
Absolutely breathtaking book! Ah it had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through! I really hope that Brooklyn gets to come back to the school and that the threat isn't too bad! But she should be going with Brady even with the complications they can work it out together! The attraction is too much to throw away!
The progression in story was great Pretty sad to see Jared and Brady hurt And Dave's hospital to visit omg But an ohk read comparable to the previous ones
