Excerpt from Chapter One

Bleary eyed and running on too little sleep, Dylan Harper pulled back the shower curtain and reached for the hot water knob. A kaleidoscope of bright colors swam before his eyes and as he focused, he groaned.

Three bras hung from the showerhead. The red one was so sheer it’d leave nothing to the imagination. He rather liked using his imagination but nevertheless, the garment sparked an instant need in him. He knew exactly where that bra had been, what it’d been cupping.

Next to the red one hung a lacy, frilly black number. The combination of sweet femininity and racy temptress did crazy things to his mind and libido. Mostly he wanted to know where Reya had worn it, underneath what and would she model it for him.

Damn it all, he couldn’t be thinking like that. He shouldn’t want her with every fiber, tendon, and cell in his body.

But he did.

He’d wanted her for as long as he could remember and thanks to his best friend Teo, her brother, she’d be his house guest until she found an apartment.

He started to turn away but took a lingering look at the third scrap of fabric. This one was a sunny yellow with white polka dots and some sort of light blue trim that made him think of lemonade, daisies and summer sky. It was cute and sweet and different from the other two.

Who was Reya? The sugary soft girl next door or the racy vixen? It didn’t matter. He wouldn’t be finding out, no matter how much he wanted to.

“Reya,” he called, hooking his hands over his hips.

He’d smelled coffee on his way into the bathroom and since he hadn’t put a pot on to brew, he knew she had to be awake. His stomach growled and rolled as he waited for her to appear. Thank goodness he’d had the foresight to take that aspirin and a large glass of water before bed. No more tequila shots with her for as long as he lived.

That woman could drink him under the table.

The fiery little Latina bombshell burst into the small bathroom like a ray of sunshine…dark, glossy sunshine with equally dark but warm eyes that glittered as she swept her gaze up, then down him.

Sneak peek of At Her SEAL's Command.

His kiss was hot and demanding, not at all nurturing. Consuming, exactly what she wanted, surrounded by him. His hands held her exactly how he wanted her so all she could do was hang on tight and kiss him back.

He took three steps forward, driving her backward until she hit the wall. He ground his hips against hers and she moaned.

“Tell me to stop, Reya. If you don't—”

Pulling his head back down, she slanted her lips against his. “Is that enough of an answer for you?” she murmured a while later.

His groan sounded more like a growl but it delighted her. Then he was kissing her again, drinking from her lips as he let his hands roam. She touched everywhere she could as she hiked a leg over his hip.

Yes. This was exactly where she'd always wanted to be, whom she wanted to be with and the way his thumbs drew lazy circles over her hips was far more enticing than anything she'd ever imagined.

He slid his hands up her sides and undid her top button. Leaning back a fraction, he continued his task, his fingers brushing against the insides of her breasts. She sucked in a breath, oh so ready and completely eager to feel his hands there.

Her nipples formed hard peaks begging for his touch. But he didn't pay them any attention. He just continued with the buttons until the shirt hung open. Another growl/groan rumbled from him as he trailed a kiss down her neck.

She glanced at the textured ceiling amazed that this was finally happening. Dylan's dark hair brushed her jaw as he nipped his way across her collarbone.

He seemed to know exactly where to touch her to get her to suck in a breath. Every brush of his fingertips ramped up her excitement. Across the tops of her breasts, due south across her stomach and then out over her sides before sliding down to cup her ass.

Moaning, she tightened her fingers in his hair. He’d always had gorgeous, dark hair. Thick and slightly wavy, she’d fantasized about sinking her fingers into it for years. The reality was just as she’d suspected. It was softer than it looked.

He trailed his lips down to where her collarbones met and then nibbled his way up the other side until he nipped her earlobe.

“You are so hot,” he murmured against her skin.

“Mmm… ditto.”

“And I’ve wanted you for longer than is decent.”

She smiled and another, thicker wave of lust washed through her.

“Ditto to that too.”

He pulled back and stared into her eyes. What was he looking for? She wasn’t sure and she didn’t know if he found whatever it was but it was like he couldn’t help himself because he stared at her lips for several moments. And then he was kissing her again.

His hands pushed the shirt off her shoulders and he ran his tongue along the top and gently bit the spot where her arm and shoulder met. Her hips jolted against his. Surprise and shock met as the tiny moment of pain turned into something primitive and hot. Suddenly, she couldn’t stand anything separating them.

Squirming against him, writhing in his arms, she touched everywhere she could. Tugging his shirt up, she helped him discard it. She had just a second, which was way too short for her, to take in the delicious sight. What was it about a shirtless man in low slung jeans?

Then he was pressed against her again until she was pinned against the wall.

“You’re going to be covered in paint,” he said, his lips a hair’s width from hers. He didn’t sound the least bit remorseful about that.

Her insides quivered at the way his mouth brushed hers. Provocative and breathtaking.

“I don’t care,” she said back.

“We’ll take a shower later.”

“Much later.”

A fun military best friend's sister read.

While this was not exactly what I was hoping for when I saw it was a 'best friend's sister' trope - I still very much enjoyed it and fell in love with Dylan and Reya. Why you ask: my dear bookish people, the brother gave his blessing for his friend to pursue his little sister. I was hoping for more of a secrecy type thing, but it was still a very good read!

While this book has a military vibe to it, the military part is just a matter of fact that our MMC is a retired Navy SEAL and his best friend and our FMC's brother is currently still in the military as a SEAL. There is a bit of ribbon play in this book, so that was super fun to read through. There's also hints at our FMC having a horrible past relationship but that's never fleshed out either. So it's definitely a fun read, but I feel that certain aspects just weren't fleshed out enough for me.

Reya Canales finds being At her SEAL's Command is perfect for her when the retired SEAL is Dylan Harper, her brother's best friend and the man she has loved and worried about since she was fifteen.

When you combine one hot Dom SEAL into ribbon play, a sexy and sassy smart woman and a lifetime of wanting each other you have one happy romance.

So good!

Loved this book. Reya and Dylan have known each other for 15 years, with him being her older brothers best friend and fellow Navy SEAL. They have always had a thing for each other but never made a move. They both have this easy way about their relationship and coexisting. This book is adorable and steamy. Loved it.

A quirky tale of a SEAL who has retired and needs to decide what the future holds.

I'm not totally comfortable with the Dominant angle, but she kept it kind of light, the rest of the story is pretty interesting. She does need to correct several misused words ( like using site instead of sight) and a couple typos here and there. Not bad overall.

Extremely underwhelming

This short story is extremely disjointed and disappointing. The plot was basic and still managed to get bungled. I still can't figure out the rough ages of the characters. Will NOT be reading anything more in this series.

Reasonable story but not a lot to it. Best friend’s sister moves in with retired SEAL and dom. They have loved each other from afar for 15 years. Mildly kinky sex included.

I really had high hopes for this book. I just didn’t connect how I wanted to with the story or the characters. It was a quick read and the story was okay. I didn’t find myself completely immersed like I wanted to be.

A cute, sexy, sweet romance…

Former Navy SEAL Dylan Harper is transitioning to civilian life. Due to an injury his career ended abruptly and he’s fixing up his late grandmother’s house to sell while he decides on future options for work and location. His best friend and comrade in the service asked him to look after his younger sister, a woman he’s secretly (or so he thought) cared about for years as more than the sister of a friend, she’s starred in his fantasies. Not yet knowing where he’s going or what he’ll be doing he’s hesitant to start something with her but having the sexy Latina as his houseguest is pushing him past all temptations. There is one thing about himself that not many know, he’s led a life as a Dominant. Can she can handle this secret? No longer being a SEAL he finds the thought of settling down really appeals to him.

Having Dylan home for good has given Reya Canales ideas. She’s always wanted the sexy friend of her older brother who treated her as a little sister. She worried about the two while they’ve been deployed but now that this one is home safe and she’s no longer too young she has a plan to make him see her as a desirable woman. She’s a project manager with an upcoming job that will take her out of the country so she’s not expecting more than a fling to satisfy the years of yearning though her heart does wish for more. An overheard conversation brings back past issues for Reya and makes her wonder if she ever really knew Dylan at all. Does this change the man she always thought he was?

This was a cute, sexy, sweet romance with likable characters and minimal angst, unrequited love on both sides finally finding fruition. I like the theme of this new series, SEALs coming back to begin new lives, trying to fit in back home after what they’ve seen and done and finding their love connections. Dylan was tough yet protective, tender and caring as well as a gorgeous sexy man. The beautiful Reya was nice and sassy with understandable vulnerabilities. I liked her plans to get Dylan’s attention and how she was thrown by Dylan’s secret, was more curious than turned off. He also wasn’t the only one who wasn’t sure what to do with their life putting them both on even ground. This book contains crossover characters from the Girls’ Night Trilogy which were good to see again.

A man of honour, Dylan deems his best friend’s little sister as forbidden fruit; but an insatiable desire burns so hot, that when Reya arrives as his unexpected houseguest, the craving that has simmered for over a decade, ultimately becomes a raging inferno.

Dylan is everything a woman could want; a gentleman, protective, strong and passionate. But Dylan has a closely guarded secret that he hasn’t shared with anyone, not even his most trusted friends.

Reya has loved Dylan for 15 years, and not as a little sister either. She is hell-bent on making the stubborn SEAL open his eyes and see the grown woman before him, but an overheard conversation causes trepidation and doubt to cloud Reya’s judgement and she wonders if she really knows the man of her dreams.

At Her SEAL’s Command is a great start to a brand new series, so for any reader who isn’t familiar with Ms Blake’s Girl’s Night Out series, this is definitely fine to read as the first book in a standalone series. However, if you have started Girl’s Night Out, but not read Beg For It (Book 3), there are some minor spoilers in this book, so beware!

SEAL’s of Roseville in this reader’s opinion, is definitely a spin-off from the Girl’s Night Out series as some of my favourite characters make regular appearances, which is totally awesome!
