I was running against time and desperate to conquer my fears with my “don’t forget to be awesome” plan. One night, I was sulking over my uglier-than-homemade-sin life and reeling from another painful loss. As I thought about my new life, a handsome gent named Hunt Hardick sat next to me. He looked like a good start and was likely a hell of a finish. Suddenly, my plan took on a life of its own.
Hunt After a long day as one of San Francisco’s most prominent ob/gyns, I stopped at a bar for a bourbon and a mental break from my ex, who I couldn’t seem to bleach from my system. One glance at Happy’s tearstained angelic face and I was done. I’d never been a guy to turn down a stunning woman who also looked like a beautiful project.
Hunt was a key in my locked cage that once opened meant I might fly away.
An emotionally charged, rich with feeling story about survival, triumph, and a girl named Happy Go Lucky who had a plan. A plan that didn’t include the ruggedly sexy gynecologist who inserted himself in her life.

A. Wilding Wells knows me. She knows my heart, she knows, my soul, she knows my naughty secrets and my deepest desires. Have I ever spoken them to her out loud, no, but she just swan dove into my heart, and when she surfaced she wrote a tell-all story about what she found buried in there. I don't know how she did it you guys. But this story spoke to me, not just the events but the characters, and not just the characters, but their words, and not just their words but the pattern which they were told, they laid down road maps around my heart and then took up residence there. Luckily for us, bibliophiles... we have the pleasure of falling time and time again. Some books fall flat, some books push you over the ledge and let you plunge to your demise, while THIS BOOK right here, it gives you wings, while it encourages you to step off the edge it also allows you to spread your wings and glide through the story, enjoying the the view and the anticipation of things to come. The story takes flight with you, the characters bend and twist and soar and sail, and fall and fall and fall, and you're right there with them throughout their decent. And it is just so totally and completely absolutely BEAUTIFUL. THIS BOOK, THIS STORY, THIS JOURNEY, THIS AUTHOR IS WHY I LOVE TO READ WITH ALL MY HEART.
Thanks for listening to me try to find words for these feelings. Finding words to describe someone else's life changing words often leaves me a rambling mess, all I really want to say about this book is please, please please fall with me...READ IT!
Now let me just say I'm not usually a warm and fuzzy kind of girl but I can't help but feel exactly that when I read one of A Wildwells books. I swear her writing has the ability to soften my cynical heart..this new one has turned me into a swooning mess...sigh!!
I was lucky to get an ARC for Of Winged Creatures & Nesting Grounds so here's my honest review.
I absolutely loved this story about Hunt Hardick insanely handsome, sexy flirt gynecologist who wears his heart and soul on his sleeve and Happy Go Lucky a wounded , broken, quirky , Christmas light and sequin wearing girl who is looking to put her life back together. They meet one night at bar and start talking and it's like instant soul connection. He wants to be the man to help her with her "plan" to put herself together and she wants nothing to do with him even though he calls to her on a level that's she's never felt before.
Where do I start with Dr Hardick..Le Sigh!! He is the most sweetest the most adorable character ever created...well at least in my opinion. I would say he has a Hero Complex, he's always trying to help someone even when they sure as hell don't deserve it like his cum dumpster of an Ex, Sela. He's so perfect even his flaws are beautiful. I love these male characters that she creates, they are always so strong, compassionate and so damn loving towards the women in their lives even though they are flaming hot messes lol!!
Now Happy Go Lucky (yes that's her name) on the other hand got on my nerves just a bit. Ok I get she went through something really traumatic and life changing but come on girl..you have a man that laying his soul at your feet and she was not having it at all she was not trying to give in not even a bit...a few times I wanted to snack her with her "plan" and journal lol!!! On the other hand she was so cute and quirky with her Christmas light, sequin and her love of birds.
This book was so good and so amazingly sweet and adorable ..definite must read!!!
How the hell am I supposed to write a review for a book like this? This book was FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC! I am beginning to see a pattern in my reviews. Every single time a book takes my breath away, it seems to take away my thinking, typing and just overall reviewing abilities!! It sucked me in so much I didn’t even stop to make a single edit!!
I know there are so many books out there that give you the feels, but Of Winged and Creatures & Nesting Grounds gave me the feels on a completely different level (as in chunks of it – see I already make no kind of sense). Let’s break it down; otherwise this review will be an ample mess of nonsense.
Before going into OWACANG, I wanted to let it be known that I was super excited to dig in due to my reading just only one other book from this author so far and that book, my friend – was amazing as well! So go add the other book, A Field Guide to Catching Crickets to your TBR or just one-click it. TRUST ME. I bet A. Wilding Wells other two releases prior to this are just as AMAZEBALLS as well, and I am truly dying to find time to get to them as it's sitting on my shelf patiently waiting for me. Oh sorry, I am getting off topic with this specific book review. But shit you guys... go read the others or at least back-track like I am!
Okay, let’s get back on track with the FEELS of this crazy-awesome book.
Before going into this gem, the cover got me feeling like there were ants in my pants and that this book is not going to get into my hands fast enough and from the blurb itself I had this whole idea of what this book will be about. Generally speaking, I am pretty damn good at guessing when it comes to a blurb or those teasers but AWW pretty much blew me out of my Miss-Know-It-All crap.
I imagined that I would go into this book giddy-like but NOPE, from the very first page I was shocked not in a good way either but in a very good way (clear as mud) and immediately I fell in love with Hunt while I yearned to reach out to comfort him but let’s be real, I think I needed the comforting more. I did not expect it what-so-ever, my heart was already hurting. And as I read on, I could not stop laughing and I mean laugh out loud kind of laughing and not just your typical typing in of LOL and barely a smirk in person but I was full-on laughing. Yeah... from one emotion to another in chunks and my response was so real that I may look a little coo-coo.
The next portion was my hard-on, ahem… I mean my full-on rooting for Hunt whole-heartedly and at the same time I was so angry at another character in this book. I mean the kind of cunt-punching angry! If only there was an option of placing these parts on your heart (in this case on my fist) that makes you feel so much and I can somehow gravitate into that life and do some life cunt-punching, throat-slashing damage! Once that feeling settles in snugly like it belongs there; AWW takes you on a whirlwind of believing things will be okay and she then STOMPS on your heart and crush it like you stole her cocktails! She makes you feel all safe like everything will be okay then she pulls you into something far worse than you originally thought and just keeps on messing with your emotions! Which fucking sucks in such a torturous wonderful way that I apparently love since I keep forging on for more.
Not only did I fall in love with the hero and heroine in this story but I fell in love with the secondary characters whole-heartedly as well. The unconditional love of family and friends is crazy real and their quick-witted, crazy-bantering and give it to you straight without sugar coating shit is so refreshing. I mean these characters are the kind of characters everyone dreams of having in their lives!
Okay if my baring my heart out above to you is not enough. Below are the reasons of why you NEED to read Of Winged Creatures & Nesting Grounds:
This author fucking rocks! This book fucking rocks! These characters fucking rocks! This author mother-fucking rock! This book mother-fucking rock! These characters mother-fucking rock!

"Maybe it's unrealistic to want to look into a woman's eyes and see her soul."
I just knew I had to get my hands on this book as soon as possible, and I didn't even read the blurb. This is my third book by the author and she keeps coming up with very unique and refreshing plots and amazing characters. I already knew before I started reading the book that it would be different than any other romance book I have read before. A. Wilding Wells really delivered crazy, funny, beautiful and sometimes very emotional scenes. Also I ADORE her covers, they are so beautiful and different. You just want to pick it up and know what the book is about.
"It's important to look at the ugly things in life as exquisite gifts, which will give you wisdom eternally."
This book is about Hunt and Happy. Hunt is a gynecologist , which isn't a career choice many male characters have in romance books. Which made me love him even more because he was so different. He was not really an alpha male but also not a beta, he was in between. He was such a good person, he made me smile a lot. The things he did for and to Happy made me swoon a lot. He did things that regular alpha males wouldn't do and he was so confident about it. You just got to love a man who is so sure of himself and isn't easily embarrassed.
Happy is a woman with so many plans but doesn't really know how to go about it. She wants to experience so many new things but hasn't really taken the first step to achieve it. Fortunately Hunt was there to make her experience many firsts. I just loved how Hunt encouraged Happy to go after what she wanted. He was so supportive and awesome about it. He made her feel like she could take on the world. They both did some major growing in this book and for me character development is very important in books. The author did such a great job by showing that in this book. I was there each step of the way. I saw both of they grow and blossom. There were a couple of very emotional scenes which in my opinion fit perfectly into the story and even elevated it to a higher level
"This is a woman who's leaving marks on my heart and burning an imprint on my soul."
This book exceeded my expectations. It was a very good contemporary romance like you have never seen before. It had unique characters that did things you didn't see coming. The author keeps on surprising me with her creative mind. I don't know where she gets all the ideas from but she needs to keep them coming. I rarely blindly pick up books but I will continue to do so with the books written by A. Wilding Wells. I have no idea what she will come up with next but I can't wait to be surprised by her future quirky characters. If you want books with funny, quirky, sassy, crazy, unexpected, beautiful and sometimes emotional scenes then definitely pick up this author's books.
4.5 "QUIRKY" stars *ARC provided by the author in exchange of an honest review*
I'm so mad that this story ended but even more mad that Dr. Hunt Hardick is not real and his not in my life damn it, damn it, damn it Whyyyyy. Yes I loved him he was perfect he was a kind, attentive, forgiving (sometimes a little too much), dirty talker, softie.
Happy is a girl that has gone through some unlucky evets in her life leaving her carrying some guilt and dealing with health issues that's plaguing her with insecurities. And that's when Dr. Hunt who she meet by chance, help her guiding her trhough a journey of self discovery acceptance and forgiveness while falling in love.
When you start an A. Wilding Wells book you know your in for a colorful, quirky one of a kind story and that's exactly what this was.
Title: Of winged creatures and nesting grounds Author: A. Wilding Wells Rating: 4 stars HEA:
“I’m not much for company tonight.” “I’m not company. I’m just a guy.”
I loved loved loved this novel. It was wonderfully written and honest and unbelievably realistic. I loved both of the main characters: Happy our quirky and broken heroine who embarks herself on a journey of self discovery and forgiveness; Doctor Hunt Hardick, the gynecologist that every woman would be honored to date. A man who knows how to love his woman unconditonally. How to show her what real love is supposed to feel like. And after a heart-stopping and fatal encounter between the two of them, he finds the way to show Happy exactly that. A boundless soul-mate-love that will enlighten your grey days; that will set the bar so high you won’t be able to look at another man. I know that female readers happen to relate more to female characters (due to the same mental patterns), but it was Doctor Hunt that resonated with me the most.
“I love her quiet. It’s naked.”
His drive, his manners, his ability to take care of people while fixing them, was beautifully portrayed. He wasn’t childish, he wasn’t demanding, he wasn’t another annoying alpha male we’ve already read everything about, he was perfect. Just perfect. Why am I not giving away anything about the plot? Because you'll have to find out for yourself. What happens when a kick-ass heroine finds the man that can fix her lonely soul. What happens when she strikes her match and he pours some gasoline.
I can honestly say that A. Wilding Wells is one of those authors that more “people” (coff coff, WRITERS) should really look up to. Her writing is flawless and perfect. It reminds me of the water. If you like a book that focuses on characters development, a journey of self-discovery and soulmate love, you have found your gem. This author, her ideas and her creativity are something to keep an eye on. Read this novel. You won’t regret it.

Okay, let me start off by saying that when I finished this book, I really couldn't decide how I wanted to rate it. I felt while reading it, some parts in the middle of the story were a little slow paced for me (the cabin etc) and so at first I felt that it was going to sway my review. (But that's probably cuz I'm a nut case and just wanted to see them together already!!! The slow burn was killing me) But then I sat, and sat, and sat some more, and when I realized that I couldn't get this story out of my head, I came to the realization that this was probably my most FAVOURITE book that I've read by Mrs. Wells!!! The characters stayed with me, the story line stayed with me, the way this book made me laugh STAYED with me, and I realized there is NO WAY I could give this book anything less then a 5 star. Happy (Yes her name is really Happy, which at first I was like ??? But then you just realize how PERFECT that name is for this character) and her road to self discovery, happiness and love for HERSELF is just truly the best part of this book. (Oh and her fascination with Christmas lights?? She's my other half I swear!)Then there is her relationship with Hunt, who is SMOKIN HOTTTTT (like, can I just say that this has to be THE hottest fantasy ever and for those in disagreement... let me just shake my head at you) I was SWEATING at some of those doctors office scenes!!! YAAAASSSSS!!!!! Sign me up with a hot gyno any DAMN DAY!!!!
I have to say though that my two most favourite aspects of this book are 1.) how incredibly funny it was! I laughed out loud at so many parts and I fell in love with Happy and her best friend CeCe's relationship! #FriendshipGoals and 2.) The ending! I cried, was heart broken for both Hunt AND Happy, I cried some more and then smiled like a big dumb dufous at the end and just wanted to cuddle up with my IPad and these characters! Completely fell in love with this book, and the fact that these characters stayed with me for so long just goes to show what a deeply moving story this was! 5 strings of Christmas lights ALL AROUND!!!

>(3 words)Balthazar, Hawke, Dr. Hunt Hardick, Matilda, Sloan and Happy (Answer: Characters I Love)
Once again A. Wilding Wells has captivated me with her beautiful words and quirky, lovable characters. Happy, like her name is truly a one of kind character. I found her personality to be really relatable. Hunt, is very sure of himself and confident with who he is and what he wants. This makes for an interesting story. I love how both the story and characters are all multi-layered. It made for such an enjoyable read!

Do you know what, I quite enjoyed this book despite my low rating, Hunt sexy-selflessness and Happy quirkiness enamored me from the very first chapter, but sometimes lovable characters are not enough.
The story started a little off for me, then it got so much better and I was so excited about it, those text messages between Hunt & Happy had me laughing my ass off, then we went to the ranch, things got hot and then…. I was like “Wait, what is going on here?…” The story went down, it was really weird and the rushed ending didn't help it at all.
Even if I didn't love the book I have to recognize gold when I see it, and I think A. Wildings Wells is a great writer. If I had to use one word to describer her, I would use the word UNIQUE. Because despite my feelings toward the book, her writing, characters and plot were just that, unique, incomparable.
So, don't let my opinion affect you. Read the book, experience it by yourself.
Thank you to the author for providing me an ARC in exchange of an honest review.
My Review:
I was pulled in without even the chance of ever coming out!
Going to the doctor, especially a gyno is such horrid experience (don't lie its true ladies) We all hate it, Well get ready to love going cause Dr. Hung Dick, oops I mean Dr. Hunt Hardick will change your mind (The Doctor is In)
I can't tell you how much I loved my #stingqueen A. Wilding Wells work, && Of Winged Creatures & Nesting Grounds is no exception she took one woman's insecurity && heartbreak && turned it into something beautiful. Which, as a woman can sometimes be a challenge I'm not going to lie us women can be stubborn right?! HAPPY! ;)
Ah! Happy Go Lucky (yes its her real name) you quirky, hard headed sparkling woman! I adored you #littlebluebird sure I was screaming at your stubbornness half the time, but I meant it in good faith did you not see you were so much more than you thought. It took quite awhile && lots of peeling back the surface for you to fly, but when we did you soared higher than the mountains.
Dr. Hunt Hardick! (that name says enough) You sir, have shown me that when determined you can have it ALL! I fell in love with you 2 chapters in that beautiful soul && heart mixed with all that alpha man GODAM! Your patience, your will, your hunger was tested time && time again, Yet you never once let it hold you back, It was literally a step forward then BAM! two steps back! But the payoff was worth it && well deserved.
Happy && Hunt's relationship wasn't built on insta love which was nice, it was old fashion with a modern twist boy meets girl, then the boy courts girl etc. The banter between these two characters was what I loved the most they challenged each other it wasn't an easy relationship but it was beautiful.
Final Thoughts:
Sometimes it takes that one person to see past all your scars && flaws to actually see the real YOU! That one person can show you that what you may think are undesirable is something desired, they can show you LOVE. One person.
I don't honestly know how to review this book. It was so quirky and whimsical and lovely. It made me love AWW even more than I already did. This is her best work to date.
I’m not going to lie this book didn’t punch me in the feels, or leave me seeing sequined stars. It was, however, cheeky enough to keep me flipping through the pages. I enjoyed the snarky and sometimes lyrical writing style, and felt the scenes landed how they were intended. I’m guilty of blushing at Hunt’s quips and dirty talk, as well as chuckling during Happy’s internal dialogue despite the over-the-top theatrics and predictability of it all. Their instalove (is it still instalove if it’s one-sided?) won’t be making my top romances of the year, but I was invested enough to enjoy their NSFW journey.
“I’m not sure I live in the same land of optimism you do...”
Happy put it best when she uttered these words to Hunt. This scene aptly describes my feelings toward this book. “I more than like it, but I’m not convinced it’s love.” There are countless reviews gushing over this story, but it wouldn’t be my first choice off the shelf. Don’t get me wrong, the two leads do share some sizzling chemistry, but there were multiple elements that prevented me from fully committing to their relationship.
Firstly, while he’s clearly confident and charismatic, Hunt, also had some hard-to-overlook qualities. The “I come whenever I’m called” attitude he had toward his ex, Sela, really got under my skin. I get that he’s a “good guy,” but I’m not keen on Happy giving her heart – or her V-card – to someone that says: “It doesn’t matter” that they still love their ex because they have issues with goodbyes. You have issues with goodbye, Hunt? Let me show you: GOODBYE! But apparently that’s just me...
Secondly, Hunt lost some major points due to his abrasive reaction to stressful situations that take place throughout the book. Not only does he let our girl down once, but twice! And honestly if it wasn’t due to those meddling kids his friend, I’m not sure he ever would have truly fixed the problems with Happy. Ultimately, these faults do humanize our alpha male and make the narrative a little more believable...I guess...
Overall...
Taken at face value this is an entertaining read that you can easily devour in one sitting. It’ll make you laugh, leave you flushed, and I can honestly say will change your opinion on strawberry ice cream forever!
Thank you to A. Wilding Wells for being so generous and sending me an ARC of her book Of Winged Creatures & Nesting Grounds. She has created another beautiful masterpiece. I honestly want to live in one of her books and feel the love of these men that she writes about who are so beautiful and perfect in every sense.
I honestly did not want this story to end. I haven't laughed this much while reading a book in so long and it was the best therapy. This was such a heartbreakingly beautiful love story. I loved Happy Go Lucky (yes that is her name) and she was everything but that ... HAPPY! She was quirky, unique, funny and just a beautiful person. I think we all can relate to her in some way either by trying to cope with a certain event that has caused us to become guarded or a memory from our past that is haunting us or even by conquering our biggest fears. It takes so much strength and courage to take that first step and try to break through our shell and step outside our comfort zone and I have loved seeing Happy go through her transformation in this book. All I wanted for Happy was to be just that ... HAPPY!
As much as I loved Happy, it was Dr. Hunt Hardick who completely stole my heart. He was the perfect man and A. Wilding Wells always gives us these men who we fall so hard for. And it wasn't just that he was HARD all the time and never a DICK but honestly there is nothing sexier than a kind, sensitive, gorgeous man who just wants to love, be loved and have a family. God how much I swooned over this man I think it was quite unhealthy to develop so many feelings for a fictional character but OMG HE WAS EVERYTHING!
I loved their connection and how easily they fit together like a perfect puzzle but with all of their imperfect pieces. The sexy banter between them was off the charts hot. I would definitely like to spread my legs for this sexy Dr.
I cannot wait for everyone to read this book and go through Happy & Hunt's journey. You will without a doubt fall in love with them like I have.
oooohhh Dr.Hunt....he's so sweet, so selfless, so kind. A man who wants someone to love and built a family. What's not to love. Yup loveeee him, although I want to slap him for that "Sela" thing. He totally swept me off my feet with his kindness, sweetness and his hotness, especially his hotness. Can I have him as my personal doctor? And Happy...Love this quirky girl. All she wanted was to fly to face her fears. I love how she embrace that quirkiness. She's so comfortable with herself. This girl is so strong yet so vulnerable, she's been through a lot but she always push herself back up, she's never give up. I adore her.
This book is my fav from A.Wilding Wells. Although the end is kinda bit in a rush, I'm pretty enjoying it. I laugh a lot and there are some sad moments and definitely there's a lot of love, and there are so many beautiful words here.
This book is about how to be okay to be You, despite all of your flaws and past. That it's okay to be sad sometimes. It's okay if you have some quirkiness, because normal is boring ;)
If you love quirky girl and hot doctor romance..you must try this one.
This book amazed me!!! Thought provoking, sweet, witty and romantic to its core!!! Happy is a woman trying to find herself; she is a woman locked in her shell. All it takes is a chance meeting to change her life and views. Dr. Hunt Hardick is looking for a woman to share his life with. He never expected to find everything in a girl with the name Happy Go Lucky. Follow these two as they try to find themselves. I loved how the author created such an original book. It is romantic, it is fuzzy but it is also a book about facing your fears and conquering them. Hunt was an amazing man who helped Happy on a very deep level. He unlocked her. Happy was quirky and such a fun character to read about. Excellent writing and truly a unique and deeply emotional story. Do not miss this. I highly recommend it.
Another extremely emotional story from A. Wilding Wells. Hunt is probably the sweetest guy in the world. He's desperate for a wife and family of his own. This leads him to make decisions not so great for him.
Happy is desperate to reboot her life after a devastating blow that demolished her world. She is closed off to the possibility of love for fear of breaking again.
When Hunt and Happy meet they both know there is something special between them, but Happy is reluctant to accept what Hunt wants to give her. Will Hunt be able to handle the things in his life that might come back and hurt Happy? Will Happy decide to trust Hunt to give her what she needs?
Both Hunt and Happy are great characters. Happy is so quirky that you can't help but like her. I worried so much about Hunt though. His fixation on marriage and kids seems a little unhealthy. Thank goodness he has great sisters that love him. While this one didn't rock my world as much as all A. Wilding Well's other books, it is still a good one. It was a one-sitting read for me. I definitely needed to know how everything would come together for Hunt and Happy. AND, good grief, Hunt is hot hot hot. I loved his dirty talk.
Paging Dr. Hardick!! This compassionate man with a heart bigger than Texas stole my heart. He's unapologetically himself. That is such a refreshing twist. He loves hard. Happy Go Lucky was the most quirky broken girl with a set of Christmas lights in her purse. She wore sequins everywhere. Recovering from a traumatic confusing event and a skin condition she makes a list and sets out to conquer it. In swoops Hunt Hardick. He helps Happy. So much happens and I don't want to give it away. These two stole my heart. He called her bluebird and shmoop!! I love A Wilding Wells and her words. She takes you on a magical adventure with quirky characters but those characters have issues and problems. So 5 big stars for Hunt and Happy!!
Was provided and ARC in exchange for an honest review. Devoured it in one night and slept through my alarm and was late for work because of it. This is her best book to date. I loved every second of the delicious tension. I loved the weird story line and the quirky names. I loved her insecurities (and insecurities usually bug me - but this was SO REAL) and loved his confidence. I loved everything about it. I highly recommend this book from this amazing indie author.
Hunt seems to know just what to say, “you’re going to get yourself beautifully effed if you keep this up,” I say. “And I mean that in the nicest possible way.” I really enjoyed this book, I loved the characters and the book was well written.
WARNING: You may never look at Christmas lights the same way again!
This was my first ARC read ever and I could not be any more in love with this story. This was also my second book by A. Wilding Wells. After reading “How To Tame Beasts and Other Wild Things”, I just had to read another story by this author.
And let me begin by saying WOW! I will not give any spoilers because I myself don’t like reading spoilers and it would totally wreck this book if I did. The author’s writing is beautiful and quirky and sarcastic and funny. I found myself laughing out loud and then teary eyed within the space of a few pages. I took a little longer than usual to finish this book, but only because if I hadn’t, I would have read it in one night and would not have been able to get my kids to school the next day. I was stuck in a “Happy Go Lucky” trance. I think I still am actually.
To date, Happy is my favorite female book character! I wish she was real because I would want her as my best friend. Her quirkiness would have me smiling constantly. She’s been through some pretty crazy events in her life which have given her many insecurities, but from page 1, she struck me as being very strong to be able to sparkle like she does. And then in walks Hunt! Could he be any more perfect for her? His heart is so full of love, yet he just can’t seem to find it. And then BAM, he’s shocked into it by Christmas lights and sequins. He too has his own problems to deal with, but the one thing that never waivers is his love for Happy.
It takes them awhile to get their Happy Ever After, but all the craziness to get there is soooo worth reading!
Of Winged Creatures and Nesting Grounds by A. Wilding Wells is the beautifully charming, superbly sweet, and utterly enchanting book about two people who come from different walks of life but when their paths cross emotions run wild, fears break free, but most of all their hearts take flight. From the first moment you meet Happy and Hunt you will be frantically turning the pages because their story is so humorously romantic you will be incapable of stopping once you begin. Happy is a girl who strives to achieve what her name represents. She wants to seek fulfillment in her life before the walls around her come tumbling down. What I truly loved about her character, other than her captivating charisma, her quirky habits, and her quick wit, is that she is incredibly relatable. Despite our circumstances being different, I still felt a strong connection to her. As I was reading this book, I began creating my own list, and just as Happy would, I too began chanting my own words of encouragement. She has her moments of weakness, and self doubt. Days where she looks in the mirror and can’t see the beauty that the world sees and I find that notion incredibly saddening but also incredibly relatable. There are days when I hate what I see, and I fear that everyone else will see that ugliness too. I could feel the burden of the weight she carries, because there are times I carry it aswell. Although, Happy feels she doesn’t deserve someone remarkable in her life because of her uncontrollable circumstances, destiny brought her someone swoonworthy. Hunt is more than just a incredibly handsome man, he is the epitome of a good man. He cares deeply for Happy and wants nothing more than to be with her, and when she pushes him away he doesn’t relent, because he not only sees her beauty on the outside but he witnesses her radiance that is on the inside. Not to mention, his dirty mind is unbelievably entertaining. A. Wilding Wells created a story that stands apart, by including unique aspects into her writing. Little touches of magic that inspire its readers. After finishing Of Winged Creatures and Nesting Grounds, I wanted to sparkle with sequins and glow with christmas lights, because life's too short to be ordinary and this story showed me how magnificent it can be to be extraordinary. Read this story and be touched by the power of life’s unexpected exuberance and behold the power that destiny holds.
I couldn't say it better than Dr. Hardick. (so easy to fall in love with) such a beautiful story A. Wilding Wells created. I fell in love from the first page on and was hoping the book were longer.
"She’s exactly what I need: a distraction with the possibility of more. My ideal woman. Confident, but working on herself, though I sense a layer of angst. Inadvertently sexy, and quirky with a side of sarcasm, not to mention whimsy." -Hunt
"This man doesn’t know how to do anything unless it’s intimate." - Happy
Definitely a Must Read! Thank you A. Wilding Wells for letting us enter into the world of Happy and Hunt, that shows us that you can't plan love and all the obstacles you overcome bring you that much closer to yourself and your future.
" Now, I know that fear is something to conquer and embrace, because inside it hides our personal truths." -Happy Go Lucky
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*** 5+++++Stars for Hunt and Happy!!!!!
Just as soon as this sent to my kindle, I immediately started reading it and just finished it at 6.5 hours later. I had a couple pee breaks and wine breaks definitely.
What can I say that I haven't already of this amazing womans books??!! From the first page to the last I was entranced in the chase of Hunt and Happy. I laughed so much reading this!! (I highlighted lots of banter ) too funny! What an emotional, sexy, sad, lovely chase it was! The character development was there from the start which always makes me happy going into books. Otherwise you end up stopping 1/4 of the way in and its such a let down.
As I always say in my reviews, I never give any part of the story away. Hunt and Happy, and the chaos that bewitched them, is worth the pulling of heart strings. "Wink Wink and a sequin on your cheek to you Mrs Wells!!!! Bravo!!! And I cannot wait for the next to come along!!!
It was an amazing 5+++ read as always from AWWells. Please take the time to read! You wont be disappointed!
I was lucky to get an ARC for of Winged Creatures & Nesting Grounds. This is my fourth book by A. Wilding Wells and she keeps getting better and better . I always adore the cover of this book as they are so colourful, beautiful and unique by it’s own style.
This story is about Dr Hunt Hardick who I fall in love with within the first few pages. He got such a beautiful soul and such an amazing man who just wants a lady to love and have family of his own.
Happy Go Lucky who Dr Hunt met and fall in love with is a woman with so many plans but doesn't really know how to achieve it. Fortunately Hunt was there to support and encouraged her to achieve it. However, there are times I am quiet frustrated with Happy as she keep on resisting Hunt who is not only gorgeous , sexy but Awesome.
Overall I absolutely LOVED the characters of this two wonderful persons and the beautiful story line in this book. I must just said that A. Wilding Wells is a very talented and awesome person. Can't wait to read more of her books.
Happy Lucky and Hunt Hardick. When you have characters with names like that in a book by an author like A. Wilding Wells - you just know you are in for one massive treat. Throw in the fact that Hunt is a dirty talking gynecologist (say what?) and OMFG - I read this book in two sittings. If pesky real life hadnt gotten in the way, it would have been one and done. Such a wonderful, colorful, highly descriptive story of two people who were desperate to find not only themselves but someone to complete the other half of them. Happy Go Lucky (yes, that is her real name) was such a goofy, quirky cornball - she was a delight. Hunt Hardick (always... always wanted to call him Harddick) was super sweet and so soft hearted, to the point that I feared he would wreck himself. He desperately wanted a wife and family. Happy wanted stability. Could they be that for each other? I so wanted them to be. A. Wilding Wells can spin a beautiful story and had me sucked right in the middle of it before I even knew it. I enjoyed this book immensely. 4.5 **** WickedGoodStars
WARNING: Do not read this book on a bus full of people! You will definitely laugh out loud, giggle, and turn beet red! Strangers sitting next to you will give you the evil eye for bothering their boring mundane life because they have not read about Happy and Hunt’s charming relationship.
I was reading this lovely book on my commute and that was a huge mistake!! When I came across her appointments with the Hunky Dr Hardick I was turning 50 shades of beet red. Only A Wilding Wells has the ability to make you feel as though you are right there in the book, experiencing everything the main character is feeling. And boy do you feel it!! I don’t know where A Wilding Wells gets her ideas to write such awesomely embarrassing moments that make me want the ground to swallow me whole as if it were happening to me as well!! I was so lost in their world of christmas lights and sequins that I missed my bus stop countless times and had to walk home.
Seriously, you don’t want to miss out on Happy and Hunt’s quirky and fun story! I promise you won’t be disappointed!!
I've just recently found the genius that is A. Wilding Wells and have systematically devoured every one of her works! And loved every morsel!
This was an especially delicious chunk of refreshing and unique storytelling. We meet the damaged but sweet and hopeful Happy on the verge of starting a new path. One she doesn't plan to deviate from. Until Hunt Hardick happens, blowing her way off course.
Happy is quirky and flawed and I liked her immediately. Hunt is hot and all too alluring if a bit frustrating at times. More than once I was angry at one of the two but an author tapping emotions is a skilled author in my book. I rooted for the two and hoped for a lovely, messy HEA.
Cannot wait for more from this lovely, talented author!!
I was kindly provided with an ARC from the author in return for an honest review. A.Wilding Wells has a unique style of writing I feel like you could begin reading a book and know instantly that it is hers, by the quirky characters she creates and crazy plots. Happy was a fun character it felt like she took a while to get her head together and go get her man. I enjoyed Dr . Hardicks character, he seemed a little over obsessed with getting the full package- wife and kids. If you have enjoyed the authors other previous work, you will find Of Winged Creatures and Nesting Grounds a fun, unique and enjoyable read with a beautiful ending.
This book had me hooked from beginning to the end. I swear to you i didn't want it to end. It deserves more than a five rating I will tell you that. DR Hunt is the whole damn package you will not and cannot get enough of this man. And when he sees what's under his surface you will fall even harder! And happy this girl has so much baggage you can't help but to feel sorry for her and want what is best for her.
This story was everything and then some. Of winged creatures & nesting grounds has totally chewed me up and spit me out, with a gentle hug and a happily ever after of course.
Happy. JESUS, Happy. Is probably the quirkiest character I have ever read and I am absolutely entranced by her. Someone who is so beautifully broken, who has so many flaws, but she accepts them in her own way. She has a life plan and she is laser-focused if not a little bit misguided at her current spot in her journey. For someone who has had so much devastating loss in her life, she's fantastic.
Hunt is such a zany and unique character. A hot doctor with an unusual (in a good way) personality, he is what dreams are made of. To me he is Happy's perfect other half. They fit together like a Nutella and peanut butter sandwich! Of course they had their differences, but opposites they were not! I know people say opposites attract, but I felt these characters were alike in so many ways that it worked. Hunt comes with a bit of baggage and his own heavy past, but watching these two navigate those things together was BEAUTIFUL.
A Wilding Wells, I don't personally know you, but your words are poetry. Every line of this story spoke to me and made me feel things that I didn't quite expect. I expected a taboo story about a hunky OB/GYNO and his escapades with his patient, but I should have known it would be so much more. When these characters were happy I felt happy, when they were sad I felt that too. When they were intimate I felt their love and connection. Watching these two humans heal each other was beyond, just beyond. Impeccable writing. I highlighted so much this story looks like a rainbow when I flip through my kindle app!
I felt this strong connection to Happy even though I don't word for word share her story, I think anyone can relate to having a past, scars, and flaws and how those things can mold and influence you. Even though I felt like their story ended well, I'd kill for more Happy. Her story does help. These words help.
Ok in closing, this was a beautiful slow burn romance that stemmed from a chance encounter. Like when two people are looking for someone else, but they end up with everything they weren't expecting, but is oh so perfect for them... that's this story. The naughty bits are hot, like get you hot and bothered hot. The connection between these characters is so romantic and sweet. The banter is so witty and fun between the love interests and all of their friends and family. There's angst, quite a bit to be honest, and yes it's over the top, but I enjoyed it. It's fiction and it worked with the eccentricity of the main MC's!
