Practical LSD Manufacture 3rd edition

Rate this book
This classic, now in its third edition, covers all the best methods used to make LSD. The emphasis is upon natural sources of lysergic acid such as wild ergot, morning glory seeds or woodrose seeds, but extraction of ergotamine migraine medicines are also detailed. Once the lysergic acid has been procured from these sources, the text moves on to detailed descriptions of the methods used to convert lysergic acid to LSD. The text does not stop there It also gives detailed information on the chemicals used to make LSD in combination with lysergic acid, and what ordinary uses they have. The book also covers solvent management since extraction of lysergic acid from natural sources entails the use of a considerable amount of solvents. To further entertain the reader, a section is devoted to the production of TMA-2 from calamus oil, and MDMA or MDA from sassafras oil. A still further section is devoted to keeping out of trouble.

I routinely whip up a batch of minding chemicals using common kitchen ingredients with the aid of Uncle Festers's classic psychedelic manual.
Selected copies of the book were rumoured to have been soaked in some of Dr Hoffman's finest concoctions resulting in many copies being served on toast.
A perennial best seller to be found in many university libraries, make sure you acquire a copy before they're in short supply

Starts off strong but my undergrad organic chemistry lab had better instructions than this. It reads like a cookbook and there isn’t as much chemistry as I hoped there would be. At least the author knows his audience.

I find it hilarious the author wrote a chapter on how to evade the Feds when he himself was caught by them. Even more laughable is that he suggests an ideal “self destruct” option is just a single stick of dynamite. Suffice to say I’m not surprised the Feds nabbed him.

always a fun read, though don't go following the chemistry here without actual lab background and checking out the various (uncollected) errata and enlargements published over the years. the chapters on ergot farming are good stuff.

Interesting read, but the method depicted is really not practical (at all).

I have produced my first batch... need a friend who is good with chemistry though. I feel pretty confident in my ability now.
