Dead Man Code is the fourth book in A Jarvis Mann series. Jarvis Mann's cases keep getting more and more dangerous. Just when he thinks he can get a break, he gets hired for another job. He doesn’t mind but the last few have been more than just an average case. This time the wife of a murdered man hires Jarvis to find out the truth about who murdered her husband. Going in search of the truth bring him more trouble than what he needed. What seems like a robbery turned bad turns out to be so much more. Jarvis has discovered that the company the man was working for has been hiding so many secrets they don't want revealed.

All while searching for the truth Jarvis manages to get himself in a pickle again. He’s like a trouble magnet. Not only is his life at risk but other people’s too. At times it seems like a lot for Jarvis to handle but he is able to overcome it. That’s what makes him a great detective. He doesn’t give up, he always gets back up and fights.

R. Weir never fails to write a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and full of action. This one does not disappoint! Jarvis not only gets himself in hot water but the ones around him also. In this story there were plenty of people who are prepared to do anything to keep Jarvis quiet. Through all his books Mr. Weir keeps the character of Jarvis real. He is a man that is in danger but always has an eye for the ladies. His character is so realistic that keeps it real, you feel all his emotions right along side him. At times I wanted to play cupid and call Melissa, and work my magic. Maybe that would help Jarvis out a little. He could use a “picker-upper”!

This is definitely a great book that will have you loving the characters and the suspense of the story. I’m anxious to see what’s next for Jarvis, will he find his happiness again or will his cases keep getting more dangerous.

Jarvis Mann is back in another fast paced novel. His brothers murder is solved, his relationship with his girlfriend ends, and he is back at work. Dealing with crime to get him through the wreck that is his life. In this book, a young woman asks for his help. Her husband was killed while working in a tech company. It was supposedly a robbery, but she thinks there is more to the story. She believes he was murdered. Now Jarvis is out to find out the who, the what, and the why, and in the process he finds himself in more danger than ever.

Every book I read by R. Weir gets better and better. The books themselves as well as the writing. It all keeps getting better. This book was full of action. From beginning to end, it kept me reading. It was fast paced and written well. Jarvis is a great character and with every book I just grow to love him more and more. Hes tough, hardened, and out for the truth no matter the cost. He also cares. Each book shows that more and more and this book was no different. The story was a great one. This is another Jarvis novel I will definitely recommend to my friends. I can't wait to read more. I'm definitely one of R. Weirs biggest fans ;) ....Stormi

I've been looking forward to the next book in the Jarvis Mann, PI series. Even though this is part of a series I think it could easily be a stand alone.
The cases that Jarvis gets are getting more involved, more dangerous with each book. I also love that the author 'revisits' with characters from his past cases (books).

I actually read this book straight through as I could not put it down. It kept me on the edge of my seat to the very end. I absolutely love books that have me trying to figure out who did it, why they did it and what's going to happen next.

This book is full of danger and intrigue and just when I thought I had it figured out something happens and it has me rethinking everything.

The author has a way of describing things as they are happening that makes you think you are right there actually seeing them. Love it!

This book, as well as all of R Weir's books are very well written and I personally think each book just gets better.

Another 5 stars for R. Weir in his latest Jarvis Mann series.
I really did enjoy Dead Man Code and this one by far is my favorite. Jarvis Mann is just the type of detective you want to read about in a mystery novel. Jarvis is loyal to a fault, kind, and he’ll stop at nothing to get to the truth. Even if that means putting himself at risk. What I loved most about this one is it’s not predictable at all. There’s twists that I never saw coming, and more than once I had to question who was behind it all. There’s some suspense, mystery of course, and it left me hanging off the edge of my seat. There was also a few times I was shocked, but no matter what I felt as if I was right there with Jarvis trying to solve the latest case.
R. Weir always brings the best cases to life with the Jarvis Mann series, and I for one, cannot wait to see what else Jarvis can get himself into. I highly recommend reading this one or any of R. Weir’s novels. Especially if you’re looking for something with mystery and suspense.

I loved the way this story opened up; a tense situation right from the first page. Then we have to go back in time to where this case first began. This is a story woven around computer hacking and theft of information which, once again, puts Jarvis Mann in danger of losing his life. This is currently a topic of interest which just begs to have a story told and the author has made it more exciting than the TV news programmes. Had me turning the pages until the early hours of the morning as I needed to know the next move. . Tension, suspense, the usual twists and turns, a dash of lust, a good fight and a little bit of thoughtful Jarvis Mann thrown in makes for a great read. The series just keeps on getting better!

R Weir writes the best detective books in his Jarvis Mann Detective Novels. I fell in love with Jarvis with the first book that I read and now I am anxious to get into his next adventures. I love that he will go to no ends to find out "who did it" and he covers all of his bases. Randy hit a grand slam with this !

This is the second book by R. Weir that I have read and Jarvis Mann is fast becoming my favourite PI! As in the previous novel, the author writes in the first person point of view which gives the reader unfettered access to the main character’s thoughts and feelings. The story starts with a bang: a murder scene where Jarvis finds his informant shot and himself literally looking down the barrel of a gun.

Jarvis was dealing with personal issues when he was hired by the widow of slain tech geek, Aaron Bailey. The police wrote off the death of Aaron in the WANN Systems parking lot as a robbery gone bad, but Mandy Bailey believed Aaron was murdered. Jarvis set to work after having to deal with his brother’s death and his separation from Melissa, the love of his life. His weakness is women and it was a one-night stand that wrecked his relationship. This good-looking PI is charming, witty, resourceful and brave but far from book boyfriend material. He is plagued by his own personal demons that he tries not to get the better of him while working on this case.

Jarvis is introduced into the tech world and meets various shady characters who were out to maim him. This was way out of his league but this did not deter him from moving forward. Mandy’s suspicions were not unfounded as Jarvis is tailed, threatened and his source of information including the former WANN security officer was assaulted and his prized car destroyed. April, his ever reliable police informer who has saved his skin twice, got shot at and then another informer related to Aaron was murdered. Despite the FBI hating on him, Jarvis manages to get them to help him out of a bind. The police detectives hate his guts but in the end, cooperated with him on the case. His client Mandy had been holding out on him and she is not who she appears to be. A lot of odds were stacked against our hero. Will he ever find out who murdered Aaron? How was Melissa’s firm involved in all these? They keep popping up and bailing out the villains. Is this case way over Jarvis’ head? How can he cope?

Jarvis is as human as can be. He struggles with emotions and the bad decisions he’s made in life. He is not without fear and is often times self-deprecating, but humour carries him through the worst of times. He is smart and executes devious plans that may or may not backfire. I like the way Randy Weir writes, simple and straightforward with just the right amount of drama but words are well-stocked with the moods he wants to convey. He is very descriptive of every scene to paint a solid picture for his audience but never too overboard or boring. The chapters often end with an epiphany from the main character and with the case moving forward. Jarvis working on his own against formidable opponents and relying on his smarts alone made the case a tough one to crack. However he is admirably relentless and committed, loyal to his clients and very adept at pushing people buttons. Being the amateur psychologist and the charmer that he is, people unwittingly provide him information that he needs. I would want someone like him on my side. Mr. Weir has created a highly imperfect yet perceptive and very endearing character.

I could not predict how the story would turn out or if Jarvis would be victorious in the end. Sometimes, no names are mentioned in the dialogue to withhold the character’s identity and it keeps me on the edge of my seat. The characters are well-developed and realistic. The 62 chapters in this book just flew by and all were equally fascinating. Many times, I would cringe and think, is this finally the end of Jarvis? He manages to get himself in the most excruciating of predicaments. With the current emotional state he is in and the dangerous plots he devices, he appears to be a bit suicidal. I admire his courage and that he plods on despite desperate circumstances. Jarvis’ mindset is definitely not in a good place but he pulls through.

I highly recommend this book to crime and mystery enthusiasts. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to getting to know more of Jarvis, what makes him tick, what his history is. I will be reading the rest in the series.

Well what can I say but awesome. This is my fourth journey with Mr. Jarvis Mann and I can say that he gets in more trouble as the series go on. If you are a detective story fan this is the series for you.

Once again Jarvis has cheated on Melissa and while he has totally broken her heart she still wants to be friends but us unsure that she will ever be able to trust him in a relationship again.

Jarvis is now working on another case after receiving a phone call from a lady called Mandy. Mandy wants help in finding out who murdered her husband Aaron. Aaron was found dead in the car park of Waterton Albers New Networking Systems, this organization was also his employer. Aaron’s position with this organization was High-Level Security Testing and Mandy feel he must have stumbled across something that had him killed. Mandy is being paid a lot of hush money and to get his money she has had to sign papers to say she would not get anyone to investigate his death. Mandy has no idea on what she has signed or the depth of the consequences if she dies not adhere to what has been out in the paper work.

Jarvis is still I n contact with his friend April Rainn at the police department. April on many occasions has supplied Jarvis with information he has needed for cases he has been working on. Their work relationship has turned into a strong friendship. Jarvis now needs more information from the police regarding the death of Aaron. Explaining to April Mandy does not feel his death was a robbery gone wrong as she was told.

Logic told Jarvis the best place to start was at the scene of the murder and that was the car park at Waterson Albers. He also knew Aaron was found on the fourth level. Looking around he found a dark stain on the floor of the car park signifying this is where Aaron was murdered. While snooping around he was met by the company security and after throwing a barrage of questions at them he was told to leave the grounds.

Jarvis had an idea that Mandy was holding information back and he would need to pursue that ASAP in order for this case to progress. Jarvis is meeting another helper on the police department at Boone”s for a chat, drink and something to eat. While chatting Bill tells Jarvis he has himself mixed up in a big mess. After Bill leaves April comes in with friends but she takes the time to stop and say hi to Jarvis. After a quick conversation April goes back to her friends and Jarvis leaves to go home and shower. But as he was leaving he is surrounded by three Russian men. They are holding him with the intent of doing him some damage. However April has second thoughts and follows him outside in case he needed a lift home. Approaching Jarvis and the three unknown men one of them turns around and tells her to go in the other direction.

Like that is going to happen. One of the tells her that if she wants to stay around maybe they can have fun later, she tells him that how does she know he has enough package to fill her mouth, she starts to undo his zipper and she kicks him hard between the legs dropping him to the ground. This has been reported to the police and since April pulled her gun out on off duty she is now on paid leave until this mess has been sorted. To say thank you for helping him once again Jarvis takes April out for a nice dinner. When they returned to her home he was walking her to the door when they saw a man come out of the shadows with a gun.

Jarvis immediately noticed that he is the one April dropped to the ground and that the gun was also aimed at her. He tried moving her out of the way but the Russian was too quick at fired a shot which hit April. Two were dead, Jarvis had been beat up, April is in hospital in a critical condition and Jarvis wonders how much more is going to happen before this case is solved.

Dead Man Code is the fifth book in the Jarvis Mann Detective Novel series, by R. Weir. It is full of suspense, action danger, intrigue, mystery and drama.
In this instalment, Jarvis is hired by a lady named Mandy who needs help finding out what happened to her husband, Aaron. He was found dead in his workplace carpark, the apparent victim of a robbery gone bad. Aaron works for a tech company ‘Waterton Albers New Networking Systems’ WANN. He was in high-level security testing, it was Aaron’s responsibility to discover any bugs or security holes in the company’s software designs. Mandy feels quite strongly that he must have discovered something that has led to his death.
Jarvis once again contacts April, his friend who works at the police department, for information on the case. He starts his investigation at the carpark where the murder took place. While Jarvis is looking around, he is intercepted by company security and told to leave.
Jarvis begins to suspect that Mandy has withheld information and he is determined to find out what it is, so he can continue the investigation.
As the story unfolds, Jarvis discovers that the company involved has some serious shady dealings going on- Russian Mobsters turn up, as well as Chinese Government goons. All this trouble, just to try to stop Jarvis- to get him out of the way and secure their criminal operation.
But they have underestimated Jarvis’s tenacity, strength, determination and resourcefulness- he’s a detective who will go to any lengths to get to the truth, protect his client and close a case. He could use some assistance, and some help does come, from an entirely unexpected source.
Is this the case that finally sees Jarvis bite off more than he can chew? What is it the company is up to? What secrets are they hiding? What has he got himself mixed up in? Can he escape the clutches of baddies, or death for that matter? Will he be able to protect his client? What dangers does Jarvis subject himself to for the sake of the investigation?
Once again Mr. Weir has delivered a really well thought out and beautifully written, complex and very detailed story. He has a wonderfully descriptive style that pulls you into the story. I couldn’t put it down, I was totally engrossed. And in true R. Weir style, he kept me guessing right till the end. I was in complete suspense, tearing my way through the book to discover what was happening.
The jobs and investigations that Jarvis is taking on are becoming more complex, more dangerous and more involved- as each book unfolds. He is not afraid to risk his own safety to uncover the truth. He seems to have some character growth, in each instalment as the series has progressed. I am still hoping that he will find his HEA, finding someone special to spend his life with- but with such a wandering eye, and an appreciation for a pretty lady, I’m not sure it will happen any time soon.
The story is fast paced and flows smoothly.
I really recommend this book, even though the whole series is unbelievably good, this one is the best of the bunch so far. Mr. Weir definitely upped the Ante with this one! I hope this isn’t the last we hear of Jarvis Mann. I can’t wait to see what Mr. Weir produces next.

Thank you Mr. Weir!

I give Dead Man Code (book 5 in the Jarvis Mann Detective series) by R. Weir 5 stars.
This review contains spoilers from previous books in the series.

Jarvis Mann has a pretty broken heart. Although they didn’t get along too well, he is still grieving over the death of his brother. And his cheating led to his girlfriend leaving. After quite a long time of wallowing in his grief, he knows he has to move on. Even before he wrapped up the case that involved his brother, he promised a client he would look into the case of her husband’s death. Since he took a retainer, he knew he had to get on it right away. The husband worked at a technology company, doing coding for the company who makes hardware and software. They deal mainly in security type systems. He was killed in their parking garage, with his laptop and credit cards stolen. The police say it was a robbery gone wrong. But the security cameras weren’t working, so there was no footage of what happened. Mann thinks it’s quite curious that a company that specializes in computer systems just happens to have their security cameras go down just for that length of time. When he pushes further, he is stone walled at every angle. Then there are the rumors flying around that there may be things going on with this company then just the successful startup they appear to be. And the deeper he gets, the more questionable characters he runs into.

Was there more to this murder than meets the eye? What is the company really into that they are trying so hard to hide? And will he able to keep the ones he cares about out of the cross hairs? He seems to drag too many people into his problems lately….

This is another great book in the series. Mann is a great character, as are the other supporting characters. There aren’t any two dimensional people in this whole book. Plus the descriptions of the people and places are just what you would expect in a classic detective novel. It's also great to see how Mann is developing as a person too. He is continually growing, making mistakes, learning from them, and trying hard not to repeat them – both personally and in his job.

The twists and turns I have come to expect in this series are also prevalent. I am never able to put these books down and am excited to see what kind of trouble Mann get into next.

Dead Man Code: A Jarvis Mann Detective Novel
By: R. Weir
5 out of 5 stars

The story Dead Man Code: A Jarvis Mann Detective Novel by R. Weir is a thrilling private investigator book. This story starts with Jarvis investigating the killing of an employee at a high-tech company. His widow believes that he was murdered for something he found out regarding his employer. Jarvis is not only stepping on the toes of the local police, he soon has the attention of Russian mobsters and Chinese government goons. They are there to bribe, threaten, beat and finally kill anyone who gets in the way. Can Jarvis protect the life of the widow who hired him?

This is the fifth book in the Jarvis Mann Detective series and I firmly believe that each one keeps getting better. This book shows how an author takes an awesome main character, adds in plenty of thrills, danger, and enough suspense that you will find yourself lost in the book until the final word is read. Jarvis’s world has changed since his last case involving his brother. He now rides a motorcycle and unfortunately his love life has taken quite a turn for the worse. He has always thrown himself fully into any case he has and this one is no different. In today’s world of internet, hackers, tech companies and computer programmers, this story fits right in. Jarvis always seems to find the path with the most danger involved, or does the path find him? He has his friends on the police force who are there to help him and pop up frequently. As you read each book in the series you will notice the characters overlap and blend into the next novel. There is also another PI that at first seems to hinder the investigation, it seems he and Jarvis has a history. There are a lot of reasons I love this book and Jarvis, however, I think the most important is that Jarvis has a code that he lives by. Survival of his clients, family, and those he holds dear all depends on it.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good thrilling mystery. If you are looking at this book and have not read the previous ones, I highly suggest reading all of them. You will not be disappointed. This is a series that will always have you on the edge of your seat and wanting to read the next story.

Jarvis Mann is back with a riveting case involving hackers, Russian goons, dangerous Chinese businessmen and more intriguing women. This book is the next in a line of novels by R Weir featuring PI Jarvis Mann. I recommend reading all the books in the series as references are made in each book about the previous cases. However, R Weir does a wonderful job explaining enough so each book could be a standalone. Jarvis is still getting over his recent split with Melissa and the death of his brother when he contacts the woman who put him on retainer and the end of “Blood Brothers.” Mandy needs help to figure out who killed her husband Aaron who worked for an up and coming tech company called Waterton Albers New Networking Systems or WANN. WANN and the police are saying it was a random mugging but nothing adds up. Jarvis isn’t on the case long when he starts getting trouble from three Russians who were tailing him and trying to stop him from investigating. That’s just the start of his troubles once the Chinese businessmen get involved and try to pay Jarvis off. So many secrets and with no one around to help him, Jarvis quickly gets desperate to solve this case before more people get hurt. So I keep saying this, but “Dead Man Code” is my new favorite in the series! Every single book has been better than the last and I didn’t think it would happen again after how much I liked “Blood Brothers” but R Weir has done it again! The cases are all so different and complex and such a good read! I really love mystery/ thriller books and R Weir really has a great series going on here! I like the relationship that Jarvis is starting to build with April, but would hate to see a repeat of what happened with Melissa. It’s been nice to see a flawed character like Jarvis try to grow up and be a better person. He seems like he really wants to do better but lets his flaws get the better of him. I can’t wait to see what is in store for Jarvis Mann in the upcoming short story “The Case of the Invisible Souls” and novel “Front Range Butcher.” Please keep the books coming, R Weir!! I give “Dead Man Code” five stars!!

I was so excited that Jarvis Mann was back in this next instalment by R Weir and again he doesn’t disappoint! Dead Man Code is the fourth book in the Jarvis Mann series by R Weir and I still love this handsome Private Investigator! I love his sharp wit, he’s definitely not short of comebacks when he needs them, I certainly had a few laugh out loud moments. I have read all of this series so far and I definitely recommend that the books are read in order; you will certainly get to know the character more that way.
Jarvis certainly likes to land himself with the most difficult cases and Dead Man Code is no different. The Police are unhappy with Jarvis as he starts digging into a murder case that has been closed. Jarvis soon unearths a crooked tech company hell-bent on stealing their customer’s identities and US government secrets. As always Jarvis finds himself involved with the criminals and both the Russian mobsters and the Chinese Government are after him using all kinds of tactics to stop him from digging any further.
I think after reading book 3 I really understand Jarvis’ character a lot more, sadly we don’t see a reunion with Melissa but there may be a new lady on the horizon and I feel she may keep him on his toes!! It’s nice to see recurring characters in this series and I think all the books tie in together well, hence why I recommend reading them in order. As with the other books the author again has a wonderful way of describing what is going on in his stories, it’s almost as though I am watching them. I’ve really enjoyed reading these books by R Weir; he has a great, relaxed writing style even if the stories themselves are in no way relaxed! They certainly keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing until the very end. This book has everything, suspense, romance, comedy and as mentioned before a very handsome private investigator!
I can’t wait to see what Jarvis gets up to in any upcoming stories about him.

Dead Man Code by R. Weir is the latest installment of the Jarvis Mann Detective series. I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. I am in love with this series! Jarvis Mann remains his witty sarcastic trouble finding self in this latest tale of intrigue. However, I feel this book has the most serious plot of the entire series thus far-which I absolutely loved! Our charming Detective is still reeling from a certain death, and the ending of his relationship with Melissa in this latest book. Jarvis is asked to investigate a closed murder case (much to the local PD's dismay), when the victim's widow calls asking him to find out the truth surrounding the murder. Our Detective realizes quickly that there is more to the story when he keeps getting thwarted in his attempts to investigate the case. The cops are no help of course because they feel he is trying to discredit the work they already put into the now closed case.
It doesn't take long for trouble to find him when he begins to look into the victim's former place of employment. Trouble in the form of the Chinese government and Russian mob no less! They want Jarvis to back off, and back off quick! But of course our heroic Detective will do no such thing, and continues on trying to solve the case before another body gets added to the pile. Mann does find help from one person, April Rainn, at the local police department. But will this friendship or possibly more place her in danger too? After all, danger and death surround our fated Detective in all the cases he accepts.
R. Weir writes a thrilling edge-of-your-seat tale of love and crime once again. This latest story in the Mann universe is full of twists and turns as the reader has come to expect. Another quick read, as I couldn't put it down until the case was solved. Can't wait to read what Mann will get himself into next!

Jarvis Mann is back once again and raring to go, this time the case is about hunting for a killer of a computer geek, he's approached by the dead man's wife who wants answers understandably to her husbands death it seems at first it was a suspected robbery gone wrong but during the case nothing is quite what it seems with all the twists and turns and things become unraveled. Jarvis is still the same sexy rugged heartbreaker with commitment issues but once he's on a case he's committed to a tee he's incredibly loyal and gets the job thoroughly done even when his life is constantly put in danger which to be fair he's use to but this time the threats are from none other than the mob, even with the threats and the danger it doesn't stop him from doing his job once he takes a case on its like hes a completely different person he will do anything to get answers for his clients and peace for the victims.
Wow R. Weir you have done it again this book is filled with twists and turns and so much drama that it keeps you on your toes and wanting to read more. Jarvis Mann is bought to life when you read these books you really feel like you know him and understand him and his ways which is done to incredible writing on the novel. I really enjoyed dead man's code was hooked from page one I love the case and plots that R.Weir spend so much time writing in detail about you can’t help but be hooked because you get so sucked into Jarvis world you want answers and the only way that is going to happen is by continuing to turn the pages on this amazing book. If you want a book that keeps you intrigued and guessing then I would definitely recommend this book it has amazing depth to it you will not be disappointed.

Jarvis is at it again! Dead Man Code is the fourth book in the Jarvis Mann Detective Series. Each book just keeps getting better and better, the twists and turns are out of this world! This could be read as standalone if you wanted, but I recommend reading each book before reading this one.

Previously Jarvis Mann had cheated on Melissa and broke her heart, even though Melissa isn't sure she'll ever be able to trust Jarvis again, she is still willing to be friends.

Jarvis has a new case forming, from someone named Mandy, who called asking for his help! This case will be investigating who murdered Mandy's husband, Aaron. He was found dead in his car, outside of Waterton Albers New Networking Systems, that just happened to be his place of employment. Aaron was involved in the High Level Security Testing, and his wife belived that he stumbled onto something that he shouldn't have. Mandy is being paid a lot of hush money and to get this money she has to sign papers, papers she has no business signing. Mandy has no idea what she's done by signing these papers.

In true Jarvis fashion, he has no idea what he's signed on for by taking this case. He decides to call a friend from the local police department to see if he can find out any clues as to why Aaron was murdered and his wife is being paid hush money. Logic told Jarvis he needed to go back to the beginning which meant going back to Waterson Albers. While there he is met by the security team who tell him to stop asking questions and to leave. Can Jarvis find out the information he needs to or will everyone put a stop to that? Who murdered Aaron? Can Jarvis find out before it's too late?

R. Weir has done it yet again! Another 5 star read!! I can't wait to see what Jarvis Mann gets into next!

Dead Man Code by R. Weir is book 5 in the crazy adventurous series of Jarvis Mann. Jarvis is a private detective solving cases for the common folk. However, while every single case starts out simple enough they all seem to be a cover up for something huge! Jarvis is looking to solve another case, a murder that police have called a robbery gone wrong. As with previous cases, not everything is as it seems. Can he trust anyone? This time other countries have become involved.

Dead Man Code does not disappoint, well except where….ohhh no spoilers here!! I can tell you what my thoughts were as I read a certain chapter and dangerous situation: Ugh dear author, that was not a turn I wanted to see happen!! This book felt like a little more romance was in the air…but noooo Weir isnt going to let that happen…yet?? Oh well played R. Weir well played indeed!! You certainly got me there.

So many characters in this story overcome with greed, lust, and power. New friends emerge and old one reunite during this adventure. Can this mystery lead Jarvis to his happily ever after? Can he live one more day?
As with the other stories of Jarvis, Weir includes a few violent and humorous events.

"He and the bartender both looked at the game, and I cold-cocked him with a solid punch that put his lights out, his head hitting the bar with a thud. I put his arms on either side of his head, as if he was asleep. “What the hell happened to him?” asked the bartender. “I guess he can’t hold his beer,” I replied, throwing money on the counter. “I told him he should eat something. This should cover his tab and mine. And gee, we were getting along so well.”

I recommend this story as well as the series.

Dead Man Code – R Weir – 4 stars

In this 5th installment of The Jarvis Mann Detective Novel Series, Detective Mann is up against international intrigue, drama, romance, murder, and computer geeks (not necessarily in that order)

I have to say, that when I read the first novella in this series, I read it as Joe Friday in Dragnet (the Dan Ackroyd version). Then I had visuals of him being like Robert Falk in Columbo when I KNEW he was really more like Nathan Fillion in Castle. The more I read of these stories, the more Jarvis Mann is becoming his own person – my imagination has managed to no longer compare him to detectives of other stories. He is truly his own man now.

This installment can absolutely be read as a standalone. I think the reader would really be missing out if they don’t read the others either before or after this one as it will explain the how/who and what of the world of Jarvis Mann.

Jarvis manages to be a ladies man, a man’s man and an all-around good guy while solving mysteries, keeping his sense of humor, eating well and maintaining/expanding friendships. “I see here listed a Mrs. Mann. Too bad, though, I don’t see a ring on your finger. I’d ask you for a drink later if you weren’t tied up detecting.” He he he I think if I needed a detective, I would be sure to call Jarvis Mann (if he were real, of course)

I really enjoy the way the author spins a tale. His descriptive narratives allow me to visualize all that is going on while following the plot and subplot alike. I read several of the books back to back and was never bored with repetition or holes in the stories. I look forward to reading more adventures of Jarvis Mann in the future.

Dead Man Code is the next thrilling book in the Jarvis Mann Detective series by R Weir. In this next installment Jarvis Mann continues to solve harrowing cases, but this could be one of the most dangerous yet.
When the wife of a murder victim hires him to solve the cold case of what happened to her husband, Jarvis has no idea what is in store for him. Getting stonewalled at every turn, he figures something more is going on behind the scenes. Of course the cops are also giving him a hard time for trying to prove them wrong, but they tend to be the least of his worries this go around.
After hearing that the victim might of had some concerns where work was concerned makes him dig deeper, what he finds is more than just a company hiding secrets. When mobsters get involved he starts to realize just how big this is, but he is determined to figure out the truth
When things start twisting and turning the things he learns and uncovers puts not only himself but everyone around him in trouble. Can Jarvis work this one out before tragedy strikes again? Or will someone around him pay the price?
This book literally had so many twists that I never saw coming. I was hooked and could not put this book down til the very last shocking and adrenaline fueled end. R Weir is the star of making a story so realistic and explosive. I have never read a book as unpredictable as this book. You will never see what is coming, and highly recommend giving this a read when you have the time to read straight through, you will not be happy if you have to put it down!

Dead Man Code – R Weir – 5 Stars
This is the fifth book in this series by R Weir and things are only getting better. Jarvis Mann Private investigator returns with all his wit and hits the ground running with a new case, briefly mention in book 4.
He is being asked to find out who killed a widow’s husband and as he uncovers the web that is woven, he puts himself in more danger than normal. This time around he is upsetting everyone from the police through to the mob as he goes about solving the case the best he can.
His relationship with Mellissa took a hit in the last book and things are looking no better in this one, with him wondering if he has lost his one and only. But with a fair few ladies on the scene in this story, his wandering eye make a return and he is keen to please all concerned.
I really like these stories as you get a mix of the thriller and romance side with a witty humour thrown in that makes you chuckle even at the most suspense moments.
The writing of this story like the others, is so descriptive that you feel a part of the book from beginning to end. The theme does not follow a routine so you can guess who did it or what will happen next as R Weir has a wonderful way of throwing you off the loop and then slamming you into the here and now with an end result you did not see coming.
Jarvis’s character will be one you love from the start to the end, and if not then you are not human, the ladies’ man is safe and will he ever settle down or will he always be the roving man he appears.

Man I am lost for words as this series gets better with every case that Jarvis takes on and the way R. Weir uses his imagination and literary skills in combination with his attention to detial is what puts the Jarvis Mann Dective Novels up there with the best of any detective series. I know it is just a book but I feel like one day I am really going to run into Mr. Mann, you know what I mean - R.Weir's skills still have me confused as I sometimes cannot be sure if I just watched the Jarvis Mann Detective Series on Hulu/Netfix or just finished reading the book.

Without spoiling the whole story for you, Jarvis is trying to solve another case, in which the wife of an IT professional is murdered in a robbery, so it seems, but the wife suspects foul play and calls Jarvis to look into it. During this case, Jarvis goes up against a Cyber Security Company called WANN Systems, the Russian and Chinese mafia, finds his way to Las Vegas and almost in a threesome with a couple that both adore him, an all night love fest with the ex-wife of one of the co-founder's of WANN Systems, almost being killed not once but three times, and two of those times saved by a beautiful lady and the other by a very unlikely ally, finding a friend in a past love, the fight of the century - Jarvis Mann pitted against an adversary with the speed and martial art skill of Bruce Lee, and to top it off Jarvis himself may be charged with murder. Well that is all I can say for now - get your copy of Dead Man Code: A Jarvis Mann Detective Novel to find out for yourself.

5 Stars *****

Dead Man Code is the fifth installment of the Jarvis Mann Detective series by R. Weir and I have to say that these books keep getting better and better.
This book starts off with Jarvis still dealing with the death of his brother and the end of his shaky relationship with Melissa (which was probably for the best…), and a widow who is looking to hire Jarvis to find the killer of her husband approaches him. When he re-opens a closed police case and finds all sorts of lies and corruption; the police are no longer the only ones irritated with him. Suddenly the Chinese government and Russian mob are in the picture and trying to “convince” Jarvis to back off. It is now a rush against time to prove that the “robbery gone bad” that everyone thinks is the cause of death; is wrong and this man was actually murdered due to major cyber crimes. Will Jarvis be able to solve the case and keep everyone safe?
I really enjoy this whole series. This book had me reading non-stop to find out what happens next, I just couldn’t put it down. The writing is great and keeps the book moving along (and this is great for me, as that is what usually makes me not want to read murder mysteries). Watching Jarvis come to terms with the craziness that is his life is a funny and sad thing. I think he just needs to find the one woman that makes him want to stay and not stray… I can’t wait to find out if I am right!

REVIEW: JARVIS MANN, DEAD MAN CODE

Still recovering from the murder of his brother and loss of his lady love, Melissa, Jarvis Mann delves into the high tech world to solve a murder. Threats to his life are nothing new to our erstwhile P.I.; even when the threats come from Russian mob types or heavy hitters with ties to the Chinese government. But Jarvis’ cases are never straight forward or easy. He finds himself dealing with a client who isn’t telling him everything, local police and FBI who hate him, a lady cop friend who’d like to be more, a suspect’s ex who wants to get in his pants, and someone who wants him dead.

As others connected to the case begin to wind up dead, Jarvis will do whatever he must to protect his client and get to the truth. He ends up getting help from some unexpected places.

R. Weir has created the consummate “Everyman” with Jarvis Mann. Our hero eats bar food, works out at the gym, and alternately kicks ass and gets his ass kicked. He has an eye for the ladies and ladies tend to have eyes for him. Jarvis is a professional. Once he is on the case, he endeavors to see it through to the end. No matter where that may take him. Jarvis Mann cases usually start out simply but inevitably involve twists and turns along the way to keep the reader guessing.

He’s done it again but this time he’s in too deep. From identity theft to two mafia organizations. Jarvis has found himself in boiling water. When a widow who believes her husband was murdered comes to hirer Jarvis to find the truth. She believes her husband found something that the company didn’t want found. This is an action packed book where we don’t know all the players and the client isn’t telling the truth. Jarvis is still I n contact with his friend April Rainn at the police department. April on many occasions has supplied Jarvis with information he has needed for cases he has been working on. From beginning to end, it kept me reading. It was fast paced and written well. Jarvis is a great character and with every book I just grow to love him more and more. He's tough, hardened, and out for the truth no matter the cost. He also cares. He doesn’t know how to say no and it never fails that he falls for temptation after temptation. The author has made a character that anyone can fall in love with. This book brings out more of who Jarvis is and how strong his character is. This being the fourth book in this series I have enjoyed the journey and all of Jarvis adventures. From failing at every relationship and constantly putting himself and others in danger. He has grown so much and that has made him a better man. He has grown as a P.I and his business is becoming popular.

Dead Man Code
R Weir

R Weirs writing style is brilliant, and the Jarvis Mann collection of novels is still going strong. All of these books reflect on past stories but still remain fresh. It's always fun to see what kind of disaster Jarvis drags himself into with each new story, and this one is no different.

What does a death at WANN Systems and three russian enforcers have in common? Jarvis isn’t sure but he was paid by Aaron Bailey’s widow Mandy to investigate his death she is 100 percent sure it wasn’t a robbery gone wrong. The fact that Aaron’s credit cards were never used after being stolen and his laptop never showed either has Jarvis thinking the same thing. After talking to the old head of security at WANN Systems Jarvis notices the tail, 3 guys white SUV so he gets behind them to figure out who they are and what they want. He cuts the Valve stem on the tire to slow them down a bit, they retaliate by burning a classic car to the ground and meeting up with Jarvis on his way home from dinner. He is rescued though by April one of the cops he gets info from at the station before they can beat him up too badly.

Come to find out the three goons work for VLast a russian big crime ring, who usually specializes in prostitution money laundering and drugs, except they may be who saved WANN Systems in their 11th hour and Jarvis intends to find out.

Jarvis Mann, PI is back, and this time he is on the hunt for the killer of a computer geek. Nothing is what you think it is as the story unravels.
Jarvis is tough and you really find this out in the instalment, and he really has a knack for getting out of sticky situations.
I love this series. Again, this plot is very intricate and well thought out, as I find with all R Weirs books. He keeps you guessing every step of the way and I need to keep turning the page until I know the outcome.
The book before this, Blood Brothers, was my favorite so far, it was brilliant and I knew it was going to be tough to top. I have to say it is still my favorite, but only just. The reason this book didn’t beat it is because I want Jarvis to grow a little more and be a better man. Throughout the books he’s grow but not in the romance area. I LOVE April and I hope if he ever gets with her he treats her right.
If you love suspense, laughter, real emotion and action packed scenes, then I highly recommend this book and series!
