Suzy Chandler, along with her best friend and business partner, Josie, own and operate the Thousand Islands Doggy Inn, a place they created to provide dogs with the things they deserve; which is the best of everything. One morning while fishing, they hook a really big one; the dead body of a rich candy magnate who owns an island in the area. They also find Chloe, an Australian Shepherd puppy, swimming nearby and frantically trying to survive the trauma of being thrown overboard in the middle of the night.
A fast-paced and funny mystery unfolds that affectionately focuses on dogs, food, and the natural beauty of the Thousand Islands region as Suzy and Josie embark on a mission to protect Chloe as well as figure out who killed the candy magnate. And as the list of suspects grows, and the victims pile up, they find themselves dealing with a unique cast of characters and wondering if they just might be the next target.
The Thousand Islands Doggy Inn Mysteries, in Suzy and Josie, features two of the smartest and funniest lead female protagonists to hit the cozy mystery scene in a very long time, and their affection for food and boundless love and devotion to their dogs puts this new series in the Don’t Miss category.
The Case of the Abandoned Aussie gets this fresh alphabet series off to a great start, and B.R. Snow promises that readers are in for a long, wild, and highly entertaining ride as the series moves forward.
Damn. I broke my rule. I've only read 50 pages and normally I won't rate a book unless I've read 50% of it. But this is just terrible. It's like a high school creative writing project.
I liked the story for a series mystery, but if she mentioned one more time how beautiful Josie was, I was going to throw the book across the room, but then I'd break my Kindle and it wasn't worth doing that. If someone can let me know if the rest of the books keeps dwelling on this let me know, because I won't bother with the rest of them. TIA.
Another book ticked off my Kindle Unlimited membership, and if they maintain this quality they've got me sold to keep the paid side of membership after all. I really loved this one, and as you might know, I read a tonne of cozy mystery. It's one of my favorite genres, and for this book to shoot straight up into favorite cozies is really rare. I absolutely must read book two immediately!
Great characters, and a super awesome friendship between the two main characters and investigators. Plus there is plenty of dogs and animals, and there only promises to be more in book two. Literally the only qualm I had was two characters sharing a similar name so I got confused at points, but a quick backtrack and I was reminded who was who.
A great beginning to what promises to be a really solid cozy series. Five stars!
Co-Owners of the Doggy Inn are enjoying the first day of fishing when they see a puppy swimming desperately towards their boat. After saving the Australian Shepard, they continue fishing until, Josie, the Vet. pulls up a dead body swimming in maple syrup? Quickly they realize the Shepard and the man wee a family.
Suzy and Josie have a liking to solve mysteries and this is one case to solve.
This book is a true cozy murder mystery and I look forward to reading the other titles in the series.
26 letters in the alphabet. 26 mysteries to be solved. Once again BR delivers a well crafted story with two witty heroines who have a knack for sleuthing. Plenty of twists, doggies galore, all taking place in the Thousand Islands.
Eh, I wasn't a fan of this one. The main character rubbed me the wrong way. She is low-grade, but annoyingly, judgemental, and even though she insists that the isn't jealous of her apparently drop-dead-gorgeous roommate and best friend, I get the impression that she is. I also realize that I might just be having a knee-jerk reaction to the main character because she apparently doesn't like seafood and thinks that kim chee is gross.
Wow, this was cute. I enjoy a lighthearted mystery where the amateur sleuths are up to their necks in clues and suspects. The characters of Josie and Suzy are loveable and so are the supporting players. By the end of the book, I was looking forward to the next installment of the series. The plot was fast paced and the dialogue was hilarious. 5 doggy cookies for great writing.
I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't stressful, or dangerous; nothing that would cause a reader to be disturbed. The characters were interesting. Hopefully the author will expand on the characters as the books evolve. I love dogs and stories about them. I also love thrillers, and urban fantasy. This book was a good relaxing read.
I chose this book as I like stories that include dogs .. on that count this book was good. The plot was good but if this author mentioned one more time that JOSSIE was beautiful ,etc.,etc.!!!!! We got it the first 100 times he told us!!!!! It really got old.
I needed a cozy mystery to cleanse my palette after some heavy non fiction reading and this was good. I chose it because of the dog connection. The characters were likable and I'm sure will be fleshed out even more in the series.
I enjoyed this book as I’m a lover of stories with animals. This is the first novel I’ve read by this author and it was cute, entertaining with a decent mystery. I have already ordered the next novel in This series.
Really enjoyed this cozy mystery, complete with dogs, humor and suspense. Set in the water - what could get much better. Loved the characters and the scenes painted by the author.
Well written and holds your interest. The dogs are always fun and the Australian Shepherd is very well characterised. An excellent way to spend a few hours.
This is the first book in a cozy mystery series set in the beautiful Thousand Islands area of upstate New York. Pretty typical of the cozy genre, fine for a quick, light read, and there are DOGS!!
Although I read the other books first I am glad I went back and read this one too. The author is amazing and with dogs it makes it perfect reading for me.
Love this new-to-me series! Good plot(s) with really good complex characters. Several main dogs with many behind the scenes, I liked the many breeds and brief descriptions. Thank you Mr Snow!
This is a new author for me. B.R. Snow has written a delightful cozy mystery. Suzy and her best friend,Josie run an inn for dogs. Josie is also a vet. One day,the two of them are out fishing and notice a puppy swimming towards their boat . They get the puppy onto their boat and bundle her up. Then as Josie gets what she thinks is fish on her line, but turns out to be Bob Crawford,,the dog's owner. The local chief of police rule the death accidental. But Suzy thinks it was murder and won't let go of the idea. So since the police chief is in Vegas for a conference,Suzy drags a reluctant Josie on a chase for a murderer. Can't wait to read book two
