If you're an entrepreneur coming from the software industry, just skip this book. This book wasn't made for you, it was made for non-software developers needing to hire software developers. I learned this the long way.

Incredibly useful, pragmatic and a genuine yearning to help

This is a very useful resource for anyone who wants to understand the nuts and bolts of how an app is built from scratch to final product. It is filled with insights and recommendations about the really tiny details that comes with this kind of project. I personally found the "Pro Pitfalls" decks incredibly interesting, because they seem really to distill into practical advice many years of the author's experience. Don't expect entertaining stories or funny facts. This is a survival guide for the app entrepreneur and should be read only like that. Above all, though, I finished this book feeling that Kukoyi had a genuine interest in helping readers when she wrote each and every page of it, which is something I rarely (or never) have found in business books. That's what makes it so remarkable. Well done.

The only problem with this book is that it didn’t come sooner. As an entrepreneur who went through this process blind, I can tell you that this book is a must have for any business in this day and age. This book would have prevented me from several mistakes that cost $$$. I like that Kay tells you how to vet a designer (and other positions) if you decide to hire someone to do work for you. It really takes the guess work out of it, so you can get it done right. I recommend that you read this book from cover to cover—an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Concise and basic.

Just about what anyone needs if new to this field. It is more targeted to the builder /entrepreneur than technical roles. I enjoyed it and found it valuable overall.

The book is great for non-technical and a checklist for the technicals.
It shows the big picture for most of the IT products and it walks through each step of the product.
