Written In The Ruby

Rate this book
An ancient ruby with mystical powers. A deep and passionate connection between vampire and human. Madmen who will torture and kill for their secrets...

This standalone story is part of the Creatures of Myth series.

Nicole Martin bought an adorable bungalow nestled on a vast estate. It provides the serenity and security she needs as an erotic romance author. Estate owner Zane Patrick is a gorgeous bonus, serving as sizzling inspiration for her novels. But when two shady government agents indicate he might be something other than human, Nicky’s overactive imagination kicks in. Perhaps it’s time to get to know the neighbor…

When Zane sold the house to Nicky, he created his own personal hell—every time she writes a sex scene, he witnesses every intimate detail in his mind. He shouldn’t get involved with his luscious neighbor, but cold showers can do only so much. When he learns of the agents’ accusations, he and Nicky explore their motives…and their lust for each other.

When Nicole is kidnapped by Human First fanatics, Zane would do anything to rescue the woman who might be his life mate. Including making a deal with Vlad Tepes.

Will Zane rescue Nicky? Will they live long enough to discover the ruby has chosen them as fated mates?

Published since 2002, Ravyn Wilde writes Hot romance filled with things that go bump in the night! Get Wilde with a werewolf, or vampire, maybe a dragon or two...and keep track because once in awhile, a story-worthy human comes along.

Ravyn is passionate about her family, the beach, and the hammock in her backyard where she stares up at the treetops and formulates her books. Oh, and coffee…she’s very passionate about coffee.

Ravyn Wilde writes hot romantic books with strong, capable women and happily-ever-after endings. She is a firm believer in escapism, preferring to read and write stories that have little basis in the real world. Therefore, most of her books are paranormal and Sci-Fi/Fantasy.

Ravyn has lived all over the western United States, and in a few exotic places like New Guinea and Singapore. Currently living in Utah, she is married with three grown children, and a fabulously fun, growing hoard of grandchildren.

Just saying...

…an author to add to the auto-buy list. Ms. Wilde’s creativity and believable characters swept this reader away…an author to watch and to anticipate new releases from!
Tracey West for The Road To Romance

...Ravyn Wilde did a fantastic job on a story with an amazing twist. I will keep my eye on Ms. Wilde’s future releases, as I can’t wait to see what she has in store next.
Robin Taylor for In The Library Reviews

...Ms. Wilde creates a marvelous tale of another world that is enticing on one hand, but revoltingly sexist on the other…Ms. Wilde’s characters are engaging and provocative, as well as humorous enough to make me laugh out loud.
Cat Cody for Romance Junkies

...The sex is intense and animalistic, so keep ice handy at all times. Ravyn Wilde is a great writer and I look forward to her next work.

I didn't like this book as much as I did the first one because I felt the plot was contrived and cliches. The characters Zane and Nicole were flat and really had no depth to them outside of the bedroom. In fact, there really wasn't much of a plot at all, just one big bedroom scene. I am fully aware that sex is an important part of a relationship but Ms. Wilde is leaving the impression that it is a basis for a lasting relationship and that's really not true. This one needs work on plot development.

Another great book by this Author these are books that once I start I do not want to put down. This is human Nicole Martin and vampire Zane Patrick and the things they go through ,there is a group out to destroy all Others and Nicole just happens to be in the wrong place. There is also an ancient, mystifying ruby, once owned by Catherine the Great, binds the two together in ways neither wanted, or imagined.I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Written in the Ruby wasn't my favorite. It didn't have much of a story. I would of liked more plot and more with the ruby and the group after Zane and other vampires.
This was basically sex scenes. after six scenes, Nicole had sex on her mind through out most of the book, and Zane basically connected to her each time and then of course it led to sex.

Loved it!

I loved this book! A romance writer and a vampire, minds connect whenever she thinks about sex. I laughed a lot, because of course she thinks about sex a lot. After all, she is a romance writer. Wonderfully done.

love that ruby

I liked this story of Nicky and Zane. I liked how her writing the smexy scenes was an early clue to what they mean to each other.
I liked his willingness to help her research especially with the bar.

One more amazing and exciting story cooked up by Ravyn Wilde. She definitely develops strong, sassy, and smart female characters to go with the hot men!

Romance author Nicole Martin loves her house located on Zane Patrick’s estate. It has everything she could ever want, privacy, security, and a gorgeous neighbor who stirs her author’s imagination, among other things. But when two men claiming to be FBI agents start harassing Nicky for information on Zane who they claim is a vampire of all things, Nicky decides it might be time to get to know her neighbor better.

Vampire hunters out to get him is only one of Zane’s problems. He has possession of a mysterious ruby once belonging to Catherine the Great, a prize so priceless, so steeped in myth and legend, that people are willing to kill for it. Not to mention Zane’s most pressing issue: Nicky. Every time the luscious author starts to write a sex scene, he sees it in his mind. As Zane and Nicky delve into the mystery of what the supposed agents are after, their attraction for one another grows. What first appeared to be simple desire between the two may, in fact, be so much more.

Written in the Ruby is one of those books that makes me wish I could put myself in the heroine’s place. It’s engaging and sensual with a fast-paced plot and a hero who is to-die-for.

While I cannot be Nicole, I did like her immensely. She’s clever, intelligent, and has a friendly attitude that made me fond of her. Zane is the kind of vampire that makes you want to offer yourself up for a bite. He’s strong, sexy, and protective of his loved ones. What more can you ask for? Erotic love scenes and action that will have you on the edge of your seat? Check. Ravyn Wilde dishes both out in spades, to my everlasting delight.

For those like myself who are new to Ms. Wilde’s Vampire Sentinel series, Written in the Ruby stands on its own. However, I found the book so enthralling that I will definitely be going back to read the first book, Let Them Eat Cake, whose characters were mentioned in passing in Written in the Ruby. I absolutely adored this book and will be on the lookout for more of Ms. Wilde’s Vampire Sentinel books in the future.

Never though i'd read an erotica story where the plot was more interesting than the sex scenes.
Heroine: She was really smart but she was constantly acting in a way at odds with her intelligence...like forgiving the hero for acting like an ass without even making him apologize
Hero: Did not like him AT ALL. hes overly suspicious and it causes him to act rather abusively towards her. Maybe if he'd like been betrayed by a past lover or something to explain it but since shed never given him any reason to doubt her it was just over the top plus he never actually made amends he just changed the topic by seducing her
Romance: maybe its because i wasnt too fond of the characters but the romance just didnt work for me. I almost would have preferred love at first sight (a true soul mate thing) to this hot mess of "its just sex it cant last" "now it can last so we're in love." It just didnt really make any sense.
Sex scenes: Well if youve read one of the oral scenes and one of the sex scenes youve pretty much read every scene in the book. They change locations but pretty much never positions. They got a little boring because they were all the same. The there are the cringe worthy words involved like areola and blood engorged. These go on my list of very unsexy words that should not be contained anywhere withing a sex scene
Plot: actually fairly interesting theres a solid amount of action and intrigue. The ending wrapped things up a little too quickly but the plot was easily the best part of the book.
Writing: not great and the formatting was even worse. There was so much repetition in this book it wasn't even funny. Changing 2 words does not make something an entirely different scene. I definitely skimmed alot of this. then there were a bunch of sentences that were just so awkward they dont even really make sense. The formatting was just a hot mess...random paragraphs in italics for no apparent reason.
Bottom line: i'd skip it...the plot was interesting but not really unique or interesting enough to make up for all the downsides

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Nicky and Zane have some thing that all couples should have and it isn't just great sex. If all couples had it marriages would last longer than what they do now. This book has action, romance even more so humor. The three combined in the right ways create and excellent story. To find what all couples should have read this book and enjoy! You will meet Dracula, lol, in writing not the flesh.
