Body of The Crime is book two in the Blackest Gold series by R. Scarlett.

“She wanted all of him…including his iron heart.”

Our Molly Darling has most definitely grown up. She is no longer that naïve, indecisive girl we met in the first book. Molly has trained, learned how to control her powers, and knows what she wants. She is tough and determined but still somehow holds on to her sweet loving nature.

Body of the Crime - R. Scarlett:

Tensley and Molly are getting to know each other and their bond is strengthening. Tensley is in a constant battle with himself between what he is beginning to feel for Molly, that she is making his heart grow for her, and what is ingrained into his head, what is expected of him, the rules he MUST live by in his world of demons. We finally meet the older brother, Beau, who had his heart ripped out by Fallen for allowing himself to love a human, for allowing himself to love at all. If Tensley allows himself to feel for Molly, it would be his fate as well. The best thing he could do is to stay away from her. But she was like a drug to him, one he just couldn’t seem to give up.

“If there was one thing he was certain of, it was that he’d never be able to offer Molly what she deserved. He was withdrawn. Cold. Emotionless. A beast. He was heartless - and he had to remain that way.”

loving touch:

This book kept me in a pretty constant state of freaking out. These two found themselves in one situation after another where one or the other of them was in danger. Molly, though, tough little Molly, is a force to be reckoned with now. She can fight her own battles. She might want Tensley, but she can take care of herself.

Body of the Crime - R. Scarlett:

Fallen and the rules the demons are forced to live by aren’t the only dangers stacked against Molly and Tensley. Evelyn, Tensley’s ex, is a constant thorn in both their sides. And there is a new character in this book, Tensley’s so called friend, Pierce. He is a lunatic and brings all kinds of extra trouble to their lives. Trouble they didn’t need. And there is always Tensley’s father and his quest for power. He has big plans for Tensley and he doesn’t care how they get it. To him, Molly is just a pawn in his game. She may be a daemon but she is also a just a human. And he will do whatever it takes to get what he wants and that includes using Molly in whatever way necessary.

“Be careful sweetheart. I’m pure poison.”
“I’m not scared of your poison, Tensley.”

vampire love:

I loved this one. I was sucked in right from the start and pretty much couldn’t put it down. Even when I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about it. These two are so perfect together. I love the way Tensley and Molly give each other power and strength. And I love the way they can heal each other. It seems like such an intimate thing they can share, even more intimate than sex. And yes, there are some steamy sexy times in this book. But if ever there was a couple that had the world stacked against them, these two do.

Yes, there is a cliff hanger. I hope Ms. Scarlett doesn’t make us wait long for the next book. If you haven’t read either of the books in this series yet, this is the perfect time to start at the beginning. This series does need to be read in order. This is such a unique story and I am loving it. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

“She was falling for a god, bent on chaos, and she craved him like her last breath.”

➳R. Scarlett has done it again in this new sequel to Vein Of Love

➳The darkness and the mystery behind this thrilling sequel is always and has always been present when it comes down to this love story. Yes, it not only is a thrilling and mysterious love story, but it also has a the aspects of fantasy and a thrill taking experience when it comes down to the plot and climax points throughout the story. At first I was confused as to how Mrs. Scarlett moved from the ending of the first one and having its cliffhanger KILL ME… But as you keep reading, you come to an understanding how the relationship between Tensley and Molly come to be, and when they do… OH LORDY!

IT. IS. H O T !

➳The possessive side of Tensley is just way the right amount of dosage that needs to be present when accepting a legitimately alpha male, because Tensley is a pure alpha that craves for Molly and everything she is. He has a determined mind set to never let her go, and most importantly, not let anyone on her near sight be part of witnessing the beauty she exudes to the world. The way he treats her, makes her come alive, and also ignites the fire in her that not everyone is capable of doing, is thrilling and absolutely exchanging to read;

“You want the beast?” he whispered into her ear.
“Yes.”
“Good. Because he needs you.”

➳The characters definitely learn the evolvement of all their relationships in this incredibly written story. There is a magnificent way in which Scarlett compels her audience and attracts you to keep going with this story. There just isn’t a thrilling relationship taking place, but the drama and the action behind everything i put into place that has a delicate aspect to it, as if every single word she wrote is meant for something, and has a meaning to something more than just a story. The beauty behind every word in this story is just the thrilling feeling that I, as a reader was able to obtain. I have not felt a feeling of excitement over a book in this genre, for a long time. R. Scarlett is starting her role as an author in an excellent way, and I cannot wait to read more of her books in the future, as should everyone else who enjoys this incredibly compelling story. Oh and I definitely need to know what happens next in this compelling story… GIVE ME, GIVE ME, GIVE ME!

1.) Vein Of Love ★★

“Love is a weapon; it´s a weakness.”

This is book two of a series all about demons and the wicked world they try to hide from humans. This book stars a young 19-year-old girl, Molly, who is the victim of a 300-year-old contract that was set up by her ancestors. The contract promises Molly, who was born with ancient daemon (unlike demon) powers beyond her control, to marry a demon of a very prestigious demon house. She is also promised to give him an heir eventually, but he has to have sex with her, AKA mate her, so no other demon can pursue Molly, since she is a very rare commodity that would make any demon mate even more powerful.

Tensley is the demon who is promised to Molly. And he comes from a very powerful line of demons, yet because of a mistake his brother made years and years ago, his family is desperate to prove their worth and value to the rest of the demons. And obviously Molly is the perfect claim to (more) fame.

In this second book, Tensley and Molly’s relationship has actually developed into something pretty adorable. Even though Tensley has only known this scary, cut-throat world, where demons are never allowed to show anything other than anger and rage, Tensley proves over and over that he is soft and capable of giving and receiving unconditional love. Tensley is such a good male love interested because he is very dominant without ever reading/feeling like toxic male masculinity.

“Demons don´t love-they destroy.”

And I feel like the struggle and growth between both Tensley and Molly are so believable. I love seeing them grow as people, above the discriminations and hate of their people, yet also seeing them grow together to wreak havoc on anyone who stands in their way of being together. I mean, hopefully!

But content warnings for attempted rape, lots of talk/threats of rape, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and just violence in general. This book never felt that dark to me, but this is a story about a forced marriage, while a demon will gain an immense amount of power if he takes her virginity.

Also, because I know most of you follow me for my fantasy reviews, I always feel it necessary to state that I rate erotic books differently than other books! I know many of the relationships are toxic and problematic and I completely understand that they wouldn’t be the healthiest and/or most ideal of starts for people in real life, but I love steamy reads and I rate them purely off my enjoyment, and I truly did enjoy this second installment, and I absolutely cannot wait to read the next! I honestly have the highest of hopes and predict this series will just get better and better.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and it was such a fast and addicting read. And I feel so happy that I was able to start my 2018 off with this engrossing and captivating PNR! I read this in two sittings and it took everything in my power (and me looking at my TBR of ARCs for the month) to not immediately pick up A Bow of Thorns!

4.5 heart be damned stars

Tensley and Molly are back with a vengeance and boy do they have a point to prove.

Molly wants to prove that she is more than a power play at his side... she wants to be his everything and anything. Feeling her way past his defenses allows her to see a side of him she only dreamed of, but holding someones heart is a huge responsibility, especially when there are secrets left unsaid.
They were exploring each other, learning each other—mind and body, and everything in-between, and she felt closer to him than to anyone else ever before. That fact alone scared and thrilled her.

Tensley opened himself up so to the possibility of more, proving he's not the cold hearted bastard we thought him to be . Allowing us to get to know him and see past the mask he so carefully and dutifully wears; for without it, could mean the end of everything he holds dear.
“What? Scared of the beast...Bruise me, sweetheart.”

Family, duty and power, were once everything... but that all changes when the heart finds it's home.

Body of the Crime is so different than the first book, in a really good way! It's crazy because it's the same characters but I now have a deeper understanding and appreciation for them, especially Tensley. I wasn't a fan of him in the first book, but I was curious to see where their story would lead, and I am so happy I continued on this journey with them. In the body of crime, we focus more on the two, knowing it's them against the world. Scared but guided with hope, they build a bond that is special, that no one else understands. It's in their vulnerability that I found their beauty and cherished what they were building.

As a new couple they still have issues to work through, because it is all so new to them and to us. Experiencing this book for both POV's allowed me to feel what they feel and just be in the moment with them. Emotions are heightened and their growth is commendable. We are taken on a ride of love, betrayal, lust and trust. After the cliffhanger of an ending, I am jonesing for the next hit of their story! Recommended to my friends who love a us against the world all consuming love.

"Sometimes we can't help how we feel; sometimes we're cursed to be drawn to the wrong people."
description

Body of the Crime is the second book in the Blackest Gold Series. With a hypnotic blend of demons, passion, romance, and intrigue, the stakes are high for Molly and the dark and deadly Tensley.

description
"He destroyed her, and she still loved him. How cursed she was."
Body of the Crime picks up after Vein of Love. Molly and Tensley are engaged and an arrangement has been set. Although Tensley and Molly are growing closer together, Tensley is hesitant to trust her after her brutal betrayal.

description
"If you really cared for me, if you really wanted me, you'd fight for me. For us."
Molly is desperate for Tensely to mark her and make her his but with his demon brethren constantly getting in their way, it seems as though the deed will never be done. As both Molly and Tensley continue to wage an emotional and physical war, there is no question that they will find their way together. But when life or death is on the line, is love worth it?

description
"She kissed him back, bleeding her entire being into him, because this was goodbye for now."
Told in dual POV, Body of the Crime is like taking a trip down the rabbit hole. The dark and delicious setting of this world will certainly keep your heart pumping because no one is safe. Tensley is my favorite flavor of hero with his dark and twisted emotions constantly warring with his desire to love Molly. Molly is young and still learning how to use her powers, and yet, she is certainly a force to be reckoned with. As each moment passes, the stakes become higher for Tensley and Molly. The supporting characters enhance the story greatly with their quirky personalities, and I thoroughly enjoyed becoming more entrenched in this fantastical world. This is certainly not an insta-love story as Molly and Tensley have been forced on each other and must learn how to cope. I am desperate for these two to overcome their foes and finally be free to be together. There were moments when I wanted to throw my Kindle against the wall when it seemed they wouldn't be able to "get over themselves" and realize that they are meant to be, and yet, I have faith in Ms. Scarlett that she will ensure that Tensley and Molly will become unstoppable.

description

Overall, I highly recommend Body of the Crime to paranormal romance fans who lust after dark heroes. This slow burn romance is full of passion, and the complex plot is only just beginning! Be forewarned, the cliffhanger is deadly in this one but certainly worth the fall! I cannot wait to find out what happens next!!!!

I was really impressed with Vein of Love and didn’t really think that R. Scarlett could top that first book but boy did she. Body of the Crime is amazing! I couldn’t stop reading and my mind revolved around Tensley and Molly constantly. I was and still am in a Knight/Darling bubble. What really made me love Body of the Crime is the character arcs of Molly and Tensley. What a transformation Molly goes through. From a naive young woman to a strong warrior goddess. She fights for what she wants and that’s Tensley. She isn’t ashamed of what she is but uses it as a strength. To her advantage. Tensley’s arc is incredible too. He’s a demon but still very much a human and doesn’t hide either side from Molly. He tries so hard to fight his beast side and his desire for Molly. Their chemistry is out of this world and gave me tingles.
R. Scarlett kept surprising me throughout this story with twists and turns. It’s a thrilling and entertaining ride and I don’t want to get off. Blackest Gold is definitely one of my favorite PNR series I’ve ever read and this was only book 2.

Many people have asked if my opinion of Molly changed while reading this book and I must admit that she redeemed herself a little bit. I actually didn't hate her. I still didn't love her, but that didn't stop me from loving this story.

Once again it was Tensley who owned my heart. The author did a remarkable job of humanizing this fierce demon and I loved watching the battle that was being waged within him. As his heart grew, he was fighting against everything he knew. He was on the cusp of breaking the rules, all for Molly. To me, that's what made this installment so amazing.

I liked many elements of this story: how Molly has better control of her powers; how she and Tensley have started to step up as partners and are slowly learning to lean on each other; the twist that I totally saw coming regarding Molly's time with the hunters (although I didn't expect how brilliantly the author would let it come about); the injection of more evil; and funny enough I even enjoyed the comic delight that was Evelyn. I'm sure she wasn't supposed to be funny but she was pathetic, which made me laugh.

I didn't like that Tensley allowed himself to be turned on by Evelyn. Why put himself in those situations? I didn't like that Molly was still too immature at times. See, that's only two things so obviously I enjoyed the ever-loving heck out of this book. Now I'm left twiddling my thumbs until the next one.

I’M FREAKIN SHOOK TO THE CORE. Paranormal Romance has never been my cup of tea but omg. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO READ THIS?!!! I hate myself for missing out on this series for so long. I think this might easily be one of my favorite romances of all time.

I’ve finished the first and second book within a few hours and I’m already devouring the third book. I haven’t read a romance series this good in so long. 😭

descriptionI like this cover better than the one for book one. The composition is much better with the tagline place above the title. It's very similar to the to book one's cover so it adds some nice consistency to the series so far.description

descriptionI enjoyed this one even more than I did book one. I think the writing was even better. Same high pace as book one. We get even more world building and twists and turns. We also meet some new secondary characters. Some are intriguing, and I want to know more about them and some I hope suffer vicious deaths. Especially Evelyn who I admit I am really over at this point.

description

As for the main characters, I am still firmly #teamMolly. She grew so much as a character in this one. I liked her in book one, but I LOVED her in this book. Tensley, well Tensley still annoyed me. His continuous push/pull wore me out. I thought when he finally marked her we were getting someplace, but nope he pulled yet another douche move by pushing her away AGAIN. I have really low tolerance for push/pull angst and this book is rife with it. That said the times when gets his head out of his ass I love him. He is sweet alpha badass.

Even with all that I inhaled this one all in one sitting so what does that tell you? I would very much like book three now. Two HUGE thumbs up from yours truly.description

'Body of The Crime" by R. Scarlett is book Two in the "Blackest Gold" series. Body of The Crime
This continues the story of Molly and Tensley from book One "Vein Of Love ". Yes, this book does end with a cliffhanger that sets us up for the Third Installment into this series. Please don't let that stop you from taking part into this series. I have fallen in love with this series and Ms. Scarlett writing. Ms. Scarlett's writing is somewhat different then some of the books I read...which is a nice change. This story has the strong male that is somewhat damaged in the fact that he doesn't think he can love anyone but does want Molly so much. Molly is the strong female that wants Tensley but also wants her life to be hers. Molly and Tensley have a lot to overcome and you just find yourself holding your breath for what is to come. I have been waiting for this next installment and when I received it I read it until I finished it at 3:00am. I am that in love with this series!
We pick up where Molly and Tensley are finding that they are heavily attracted to one another but Tensley has not 'claimed' her yet. Tensley seems to not want to ruin her life which he seems to think will happen if he does 'claim' her. Molly is getting used to her new strength and trying to make up for what she did to Tensley in the last book. Molly wants to win back Tensley trust and to do that she thinks she has to fix what she did to him. Tensley does still feel hurt/betrayed by Molly's actions but does want to keep her safe too. In addition to all of that they are still having to deal with family, a past relationship and not to mention the people behind Tensley. I will be biting my nails waiting for the next installment!!

Get your shit together and read this series.

description

Body of the Crime continues the story of Molly and Tensley. While I struggled with the first chapters in Vein of Love, Body of the Crime hooked me in from the very first line. It was as if everything on the planet stopped spinning and there was just me and Tensley.

Oh yeah, Molly was there too.

Ok, back to business.

Reading Body of the Crime was nothing like I’d dreamt about. It was hotter, more thrilling. It was every-fucking-thing.

With a captivating plot, a romance that will make your heart soar like you were bungee-jumping off a freaking cliff and riveting characters, BOTC will keep you glued to your seat. There was never a dull moment here. It was a non-stop thrill ride from the first to the last page. But not only that, R. Scarlett’s world-building was brilliant; once I re-entered Molly & Tensley’s world, I didn't want to leave.

Baby I'm thinking it over
What if the way we started made it something cursed from the start
What if it only gets colder
Would you still wrap me up and tell me that you think this was smart
Cuz lately I've been scared of even thinking 'bout where we are.

Waiting Game-Banks.

As a result from a debt, Tensley and Molly were cursed from the start.
Betrayal, lies, revenge… and Tensley eternal battle between his reason and his desire, are some of the things they will have to overcome.

Their future is uncertain. And love still has the power to destroy them.

Because I'm going deeper and deeper (deeper)
Harder and harder (harder)
Getting darker and darker
Looking for love
In all the wrong places
Oh my God
In all the wrong places
Oh my God

The Blackest Day-Lana del Rey.

Deeper, deeper, deeper… my love for Molly and Tensley go way deeper than in book one.
The attraction so sizzling the words practically burn up the pages; and the angst, oh boy the angst… it was so deliciously palpable. R.Scarlett managed to light me up and burn me down every single time they were together. Fighting, fucking, healingggggggggggg.

As a reader, I know that having a killer plot isn't the only thing a book needs to be a great book, it needs to be told in such a way that it will make the readers get lost between the pages, giving them a period of time where they not only read the book, but EXPERIENCED it. And that’s what R. Scarlett did here, so thank you.

Bottom line, read this book. If you're a paranormal lover or if you aren't read this book.

It ends with a I-need-the-next-book-NOW kind of cliffy. You have been warned.

4.5 stars!!

ARC kindly provided by author in exchange of an honest review.

The book starts a couple of weeks after the end of Vein of Love! The plot is surprising with twists coming out of nowhere. Actually this is why I love Ms. Scarlett's writing. Ms. Scarlett has created an original paranormal world that everything is possible. She doesn't give anything away and succeeds to surprise me again and again.

Molly has really changed since Vein of Love. She learnt from her bad choices and tried really hard to show where her royalties lay. I like her so much more in this book. She is self-confident and understands the stakes of her actions and choices. She has also developed a clear way of thinking!

Tensley is still really hot. The only negative point for me in this book was that Tensley was a bit confused and full of doubt. He had his reasons and they are making sense but I'd have liked him a bit more like he was in Vein of Love! Dark, raw and strong!

Their interactions were amazing! Molly and Tensley tease and challenge each other and they are a great match! I love their connection and passion and I couldn't have enough of them!

The end of this book was good! There was everything that I like in a paranormal book! Demons, action, feelings and a cliffhanger! Actually I was kind of upset that the story stopped at this point as I needed to know what happens next. Yes, it was a cliffhanger for me but not everyone will see like this.

I definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves an erotic, paranormal story!

Cannot be read as a standalone

I wasn't a great big fan of Tensley after reading Vein of Love, but now he's got me drooling. My saliva can form its own river.

Tensley continues to fight against his feelings for Molly. If he grows a heart, then he'll truly become a heartless monster like his brother.

Molly also realizes that she was the true monster, and she deeply regrets the mistakes she made in the previous book. So she tries to show Tensley that she is on his side by fighting the demon hunters.

Many obstacles are in their way. They need to look for their missing friends. They need to keep Molly's true nature hidden. But new enemies also come into the picture.

I loved the steamy scenes and the twists in the story. I can't wait to see what happens with Molly and Tensley in the next book.

Wow. Just wow. Once again R. Scarlett has successfully thrown me into the world of demons and other paranormal creatures effortlessly. Not only does she create characters who you love and root for, but she creates characters that you absolutely LOATHE. Amazing writing that actually makes you feel all of the feelings.

When we last left Molly and Tensley things were pretty tense between them. They had just killed Abbadon after he took Molly prisoner and tried to claim her. HELL NO, thankfully that didn't happen... but Tensley, the bone head, also didn't lay his claim on his beautiful daemon fiancé. So here we have two people who want each other, but are doing everything EXCEPT giving into those feelings.. or in Tens case his "lack of feelings." *winky face*

Molly is on the hunt for Cree and the other demon hunters, so that she can save Lex and get vengeance for being tricked into betraying Tensley. She is no longer the weak girl we had in book one. Oh no, she's embracing her inner daemon and taking names. I personally really LOVED her in this story. She was well written and didn't take much crap!

Tensley is just trying to fit into his role as the future Dux, keep Molly safe, deal with all the annoying demons in his life, and not let his beast side take over when he's around Molly. Even though he wants to let loose so badly and just claim her. (I feel you Tensley, I'm dying for it too!!). Tensley is trying so hard to avoid his feelings for Molly and be the demon he is supposed to be. Cruel, cold, and bad essentially. Unfortunately Tensley is too damn well rounded, and in this story he proves that he's capable of doing both.

I don't want to ruin anything, but what I will say is that Body of The Crime did not disappoint. There is so much sexual tension between Molly and Tensley, and there is even just some plain old normal tension. In this story they work on trust, forgiveness, and maybe even love?? Some oldies but goodies return; September, Illya, Stella, and Tina. Some that we love to hate; Mr. Knight, Evelyn, Cree, and Fallen with the honorable mention. We also get some new people thrown into the mix that keep the story interesting and keep you guessing on their intentions.

Things get pretty hot and steamy at some points between Molly and Tens. They also get dangerous and scary at points too. What I love about this story is even though it's paranormal romance the love story feels so real. Even though the issues and angst they deal with are supernatural, they can sort of be applied to real life. Like not wanting to give your heart to someone because of the repercussions. It may be literal in this story, but it's true to real life as well.

Hmm. All in all this was a great story. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Between squashing the bad guys, and figuring out whether or not Molly would FINALLY be claimed... it was a wild ride. OF COURSE, the story isn't over... and that's all I'll say about that one.

Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys an angsty paranormal romance, with a tiny hint of mystery and suspense.

Holy shit...when the book keeps you up until 3:45 am and you need to get up at 6:00 am for work...Yeah, holy shit - sums it all...lol

Body of the crime continues right where Vein of love left us – in the turmoil relationship of a demon Tensley Knight and his destined deamon Molly Darling.

Two entities that were pushed into the ruthless world and in each other's paths by an unavoidable blood contract
A contract was made in blood: our protection in exchange for the one born with those eyes.

And now, they collided, against all odds, doubts, fears, betrayals, secrets and secret agendas, and devious ploys, rushing towards the carnal desires and, for demons, unimaginable fulfillment.
It's not natural for demons to have affectionate or loving thoughts. We're built and conditioned to destroy, and it's all I've ever known.
Violence. Rage. Desire.

And yet Molly actually found the purpose and dealt with the new life situation she got stuck in, wether she initially liked it or not…
She should've felt danger, but all she felt was safety. They were exploring each other, learning each other – mind, body and everything in between – and she felt closer to him than she had to anyone else ever before.

Tensley is still holding back, torn with doubts…possible weakness, and trust….
Because she didn't choose this life, and once I've marked her she'll never be free of a husband who can't give her what she truly desires: love. Emotion. Affection.

Could he give her everything she wanted?

As he's pressured by everything and every other breathing demon around him, especially his own inner demon making him snappy, irky while making hasty decisions as he's fighting the ultimate inner sturggle of letting go, giving in to something more than desire itself can bear…
I want you so bad I can't think straight. I want to bite your ivory neck – deep, deep enough to mark you, deep enough to protect you and make you unconditionally mine. Do you want me to do that Molly? Would you bear my mark Molly? Are you ready to be mine?

But even the most powerful of bonds can't replace the notion of giving the most subtle and overwhelming feeling, of belonging and of ultimate trust…

 photo body of the crime_zpssuhrtl4s.jpg

And as they will go against the all knowing inner structure of the demonic world, will they withstand the upcoming turmoil is yet to be seen…but I'm kinda cheering them on *wink*

equally thrilling, erotical and suspenseful as the first installment yet this one brought more anticipation and angst into the mix, as the inner struggle of the main character was very much palpable and authentic and thus it earned a higher rating!

Embarking on the next journey in book 3

I may have just found my new addiction: Tensley Knight.
God, he's so yummy. His narration kept reminding me of another favorite character of mine: Sebastian Stark of Shay Savage's Surviving Raine series. He's just as grouchy, gruff and alpha, and though I can't see myself ever putting up with someone like that in real life, I get all gooey and tingly inside when reading about them. It's so odd.
He was withdrawn. Cold. Emotionless. A beast. He was heartless - and he had to remain that way.

Molly... okay, so maybe I'm still not her biggest fan, but I can tolerate her. She's not terrible, and that's good enough for now because Tensley makes up for that threefold.
Even all those secondary characters have wormed their way deep into my heart, most of all Ilya with all his gentleness and loyalty.
Oh yeah, and Lance. I loved how the author managed to add a little respite from all the seriousness and angst that was this book in the form of a somewhat eccentric warlord-slash-hippie, without turning him into some silly slapstick character.
"Good morning! Waffles or eggs?" Tensley was gazing at the strangest hippie he'd ever seen. The man wore a pink apron with frilly flowers sewn around his waist and was standing by the stove, frying something.

This installment was just as laden with action and tension as the first book in the series, if not more so. As Tensley and Molly's journey continues, they have to face secrets, lies and betrayals, and never seem to find peace for more than a night. Both of them learn to trust and rely on each other a little more, and witnessing the change in Tensley in particular was beautiful and immensely satisfying.

Unlike its predecessor though, I felt like this book sometimes bordered on Erotica rather than Paranormal Romance, and while I do like myself some steam from time to time, there were times when I wished it would focus just a tad more on the story than on the main characters' genitals.
I'm still good, though. It's Tensley's genitals, after all.

So needless to say, I'm hooked.
Will I be reading the sequel? Hell, yeah!

I'm a terrible series reader because I'll always read the first book and then wait five hundred years before I dive into the second one. I don't know why I'm so lazy with reading series.. but oh well - here we go!

Body of the Crime is the second book of the Blackest Gold series. I definitely couldn't put this book down because it was so freaking good! Amazing even. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with Tensley and Molly though.. because in like the first quarter of this book - I wanted to murder them. They were beyond frustrating. Then they started to improve (in my eyes) but.. that ending, damn - I sort of saw it coming.. but not really. It's weird.

Whenever I finally decide to jump into the next book, I'm secretly hoping that Molly and Tensley don't annoy the fuck outta me. I need them to act like the adults that they are.. and deal with things. I have no idea how he's going to face the fact that he's going to be a demon dad... or how Molly is going to tell him.. BUT I can't wait to dive into that book. I need to know how they story is going to play out.

I read Body of The Crime for few hours. It was love story mixed with action, suspense, and darkness. Once I started I couldn't stop.. Unlike the first book, here the action was developing faster. Tensley becomes so adorable because he finally opens himself to Molly. He struggles with his attraction to Molly but he will protect her and kill anyone who tries to hurt her. I was amazed how much Molly has grown up. I'm not used to the female character to break the trust but here... wow, I was shocked. It was heartbreaking when the truth was revealed and the one who is hurt is Tensley. It was painful to read how he treats her after that. What he almost did to Molly... I wanted to scream into his face to open his eyes... Beau was a great addition to the book. I want to see more of him and his heartless soul. Overall, the story kept me in suspense until the very end. The cliffhanger is freezing my blood... I don't know if they can make it out alive next time. The plot just got complicated... These series are getting better. I definitely recommend it!

This is the second book in the Blackest Gold series and it picks up right where Vein of Love ended. After reading Vein of Love I was so glad the Body of the Crime was already out. I could not wait to continue Molly and Tensley's story.

Tensley is finally starting to let Molly get closer in this book. He's still holding back though. He is constantly reminded what happens if he were to grow a heart. He's also still not sure if he can trust her after she stabbed him in the back. Molly knows she made a mistake, but she wants to earn his trust back. She works night and day to try to make things right. But there are still others who want to capture both Molly and Tensley.

There's also the problem that the more people who find out what Molly really is the bigger the threat of others trying to take her from Tensley. He needs to mark her, but he's hesitant because he wants to make sure she knows what it will mean.

"You're going to be the death of me."

I loved watching Tensley struggle with the feelings that he's begun to have for Molly. She's been open about her feelings, but Tensley's fear of what would happen if anyone found out allows him to keep her at arms length. It's a slow burn romance between these two and I'm loving it. And that ending...I have to read the third book now.

R. Scarlett is a new find for me and I love her work. It's not just the story, but it's also her writing. I'm hooked on this series and can't believe this series is R. Scarlett's debut. I can't wait to read more by her.
