I just felt like it changed genres right in the middle.
It started amazingly strong. I was hooked from the first page, my heart was pounding. I was scared. The moment when they brought up the possibility of the son being dead I was like YES I'm so here for this story.
Then the tapes showed the Dr. sneaking into the apartment to give the son medicine and I was like, "Eh, okay... you're losing me. But I'm still here for this!"
Then we hit the facility. This is where you totally lost me. A horror story about a paranormal child is now a futuristic utopia of robot AI? The book is titled "There's Something Terribly Wrong With My Son" and the son was only in it for like, 5 pages. I just feel like there were so many amazing things you could have done with this story. The first 16 pages were AMAZING, but then it almost felt like you took the cheap way out.
I did enjoy the concept though, so I will be checking out more stories in the future.

This story has quite an interesting background. It was discovered on the /NoSleep section on Reddit and became a viral Creepypasta success. Now an expanded version of Christopher Maxim’s short story is available as an ebook.
We meet a single father whose infant son is exhibiting some strange behavior. The four month old never cries or shows emotion and he doesn’t even seem to sleep. The father brings his son to the doctor’s office but is told all is well. The man finds no peace with what he’s been told and continues to question and monitor his son’s behavior.
There is a strong sense of dread throughout the story and we really can’t be sure of what is happening. The son’s behavior with the father is very creepy and alarming. The father has no support group and is not sure who he can trust or who has their best interests in mind. The disconnect between a four month old and his only parent and the apparent mistrust within the family is disconcerting from the beginning.
The story takes some very unexpected turns and I can guarantee it does not head where you would expect. I can’t say much more for the sake of spoilers, but what we have is a tense, creepy story with a touch of Black Mirror. There is something terribly wrong with his son. To find out what you’ll just have to read it.
I found this after my current read led me to a list of NoSleep/Creepypasta stories from Reddit. There was a lot of positive reviews regarding this one which I'm sad to say don't hold up after reading it myself.
It's weird but never creepy, scary or even unsettling. Which is fine but not when it's described as such.
It was a quick and twisty read which is well enough written. Just never wowed me.
Just amazing. At first I thought this was another run of the mill horror story. But as I continued on, there were more deeper layers. It became a story about moving on, pain and it really got to me. The ending was just a punch to the stomach. Loved it
I cannot stress enough how much I love stories that make me question the sanity of the narrator. This story was so good and full of unexpected emotions by the end that I had to reread the ending twice. Just- Amazing.
I would recommend this book if you’re looking for a fast read. I was surprised it was over as quickly as it was. I liked it okay. It just seemed like it could have been longer. I had questions left unanswered.
I loved this story. There are some truly disturbing scenes at the start. The book did end up going somewhere I wasn't expecting and the second half felt quite different from the creepiness at the beginning. Overall a great read.
I do like it - but honestly I'd say this belongs on nosleep, not as a book you're charging money for. It's clear that the beginning is written in a classic creepypasta style, and then halfways it twists and becomes a jumbled sci-fi novel. It loses ALL credibility and ergo also all the readers goodwill. I simply cannot understand the choice of taking the story in that direction. Honestly it would have worked if it had just ended like it seemed like it would (sort of at the halfway mark). It's like when nosleep authors write a second part for a popular story on the site.. please don't.

You have to be kidding me right now. I’d rather the twist had been the son was stillborn, because at least that was far more believable than whatever it is happened at the end.
I like weird horror stories and this certainly got weird. I liked everything about it but wasn't a big fan of the ending. I read the original creepy pasta and loved the twist ending, but I was hoping the the novel version would've had a different ending since the book starts with the original creepy pasta then continues after the end of creepy pasta. It was just a weird version of the original creepy pasta ending. Besides that it was a great ending.
