Reading this for a module in graduate program. Most are overviews and lots of the vignettes are vague with only descriptive results and conclusions without actual explanation on how advanced analytics solve the problem.

Nice coverage of almost all things related to BI/analytics but lacks technical details and many parts are not exactly practical. I like how the book captures business problems tho, wishing it can provide more details on problem solving steps and solutions.

This book provides a great bird's eye view on the topics and brings up review questions for the readers to deepen their knowledge through active-recalling. It also has many exercises and assignments to prompt the readers for some hands-on experience.

This was a good overview on data management with interesting case studies in each chapter. While I appreciated the varied topics regarding the case studies, I would have enjoyed it if the book went into more technical detail on the implementations of the BI solutions mentioned. The 8 chapters cover everything you need to know for a basic understanding of business intelligence and data management.

Good broad overview of BI in general and the techniques used. Also a nice explanation about the ethical aspects of BI (albeit a little short). Sometimes a little bit basic when explaining the technical side of things. Some topics are described as bleeding edge but are already outdated when reading the book in 2020 but you can hardly blame the book for that.

The book is good for the managerial perspective of BI… like it says on the cover. So mission accomplished.

It does need an update on some topics. Better wait for the next update if you’re into this topic.

Took a month to finish the book, one chapter a day in train. Everyday coming to work, I am always filled with new ideas to apply on my job. There are a lot of vignettes and case studies on the book, good for inspiration.
