Title hugely oversells the book..!

Don’t open this book if you expect lessons in how to improve your drawing. What little technical advice is offered seems to be solely of interest to the absolute beginner and for those, too brief to be of practical use.

Do open it if you want to see a number of nice examples with airily optimistic texts.

Bought this as a present and kinda regret I did.

I really bought this because I thought it would be helpful to my son who felt that he wasn't very good at drawing. Basically it is a very easy introduction to drawing and vey positive in its approach. That said, it is short and a little simplistic and doesn't;t go into a lot of details with things like perspective. Yes it does cover perspective but not in any detail. I think it probably does what it sets out to do and that is encourage people to draw and to get the confidence to draw...even when they feel that they have no ability. I give it two stars.

Nội dung 1: thời thơ ngây
- Giai đoạn cảm thấy tự do nhất, với mặt phẳng và nguyên liệu bất kì. Hãy thả lỏng và thoải mái, thả những suy nghĩ thành đường nét. Hít vào thở ra, để bàn tay chuyển động và các đường nét thành hình.
- Bắt đầu với những đường cơ bản thất, rồi rẽ theo các hướng.
- Đây là giai đoạn cho mình thấy lại những gì đã quan sát. Cảm nhận và truyền tải qua bức vẽ. Những bí mật sẽ dần tiết lộ: ta lưu tâm điều gì, nhớ điều gì.
- Đừng lo ngại bị phán xét, đừng tìm kiếm sự hoàn mỹ, cũng đừng nghĩ đến việc kết thúc tác phẩm. Hãy trân trọng sự vô tư này, nơi ta và nét vẽ gặp nhau.

Nội dung 2: Có buồn có sầu, mới thấm sâu.
- Sắc độ, luật phối cảnh và sự chuẩn xác là 3 yếu tố của tranh tĩnh vật, chân dung, phong cảnh. Dù ng họa sĩ có phong cách riêng biệt ntn, vẫn phải dựa vào 3 yếu tố này để làm nền tảng.
- Ánh sáng và bóng tối: Độ đậm nhạt khác nhau, ánh sáng đi từ đâu tới đâu, độ tương phản, bóng tối chứa đựng điều gì...
- Phối cảnh: gồm Đường nét và không gian. Sự vật đang ở đâu, điểm chính ở đâu? Luật phối cảnh tạo ra chiều sâu, sự mờ ảo, k gian 3 chiều...
- Sự chuẩn xác: Tỉ lệ của sự vật hoặc không gian trong bức tranh. Là cách tác phẩm hòa quyện sự vật. nói lên cách ta ngắm nhìn, trải ng, lưu giữ và đưa ra cái nhìn của bản thân vào tác phẩm.

Nội dung 3: Lối đi của riêng ta.
- Lao động chăm chỉ để "định danh phong cách": Van Gogh - bắt đầu vẽ trễ, sự ng chưa đến 10 năm, nhưng để lại 1 kho tàng đồ sộ.
- Thế giới mà họa sĩ nhìn thấy - vượt xa lề luật thông thường qua ánh sáng, màu sắc, cảm xúc...

- Nỗi sợ ngăn cản chúng ta trong nhiều điều, chứ k chỉ vẽ.
- Vẽ: đơn thuần là giao tiếp ở hình thức khác, khơi dậy các giác quan.
- Thực hành là quá trình nghiêm túc và nhẫn nại, nó sẽ mở ra 1 thế giới khiến ta bất ngờ về chính mình.

A handy manual giving technical and philosophical advice for anyone who wants to explore drawing in any medium. A range of styles and periods are represented here, and I particularly liked the strong presence of current artists as well as some classically well-known heavyweights in the world of art.

This is like an introductory class that takes breaths for depths so the title is very misleading. If it was Read This If You Are Thinking Of Getting Into Drawing and Are Testing Different Styles/Methods, I would have given it 3 stars.

This isn't what I thought it would be.

I was looking for a book with a bunch of like reference photos or models. Instead this book taught me skills.

I learned a lot in this short book, and in just a few days my drawing and art style has improved.

It has some exercises to help you practice a variety of styles, and each of these are also a practice in seeing what you are trying to draw in different ways.

It also has examples of different types of art, and encourages you to try different styles.

It also covers some drawing basics, like perspective and proportions.

This is fantastic and I already see improvement in my art.

Approaches drawing by looking at lots of examples of various styles and techniques from established artists. Ideally I should have tried out each of the styles as I read through the book, but it never happened. So I enjoyed reading the book, but I still haven't done the practical work to make myself "great (better) at drawing".

This book touches on a wide variety of techniques, but with a very light touch... it's an intro with a little of instructions and suggestions. I like that it presents different styles of drawings in the book. I think the part about perspective is not that great. All in all, it's just so so, even for a brief intro.

Very good introductory guide with some excellent examples. Clear explanations of things like foreshortening and three-point perspective. Not the only drawing resource you'll ever need, but a very solid and encouraging text.

This was a fun book to play with. There is some solid advice and the exercises are quick and educational. It’s definitely CliffsNotes for drawing, though. Simple, basic, easy to understand, and a whole lot left unsaid.

Features and analyses artists’ sketches and drawings but generally doesn’t follow up with enough guidance or steps to help you get similarly “great at drawing”. I’ve seen most of the techniques covered better or in much more detail in other, more useful, books.

Dizem que quem já leu um livro que ensina a desenhar, já leu todos. Isso é um exagero. Este livro em questão, "Leia Isto Se Quer Fazer Desenhos Incríveis", é bastante diferente dos outros livros sobre desenhos que eu já li/vi. Ele além de apresentar os costumeiros exemplos e exercícios, mostra como cada seção foi aplicada na prática, dentro do universo das artes plásticas, em obras de artistas conceituados ao redor do mundo. As seções que o livro traz também não são tão óbvias como a maioria dos livros sobre desenho costumam trazer. Uma das coisas legais desse livro é que ele ensina basicamente a desenhar apenas com o lápis e, mesmo assim, consegue recorrer a grandes exemplos de desenhos da História da Arte mundial. Fora isso, a forma como foi trabalhado o projeto gráfico do livro também ajuda na compreensão muito melhor das lições, de forma que não ficam os desenhos e o texto competindo desmedidamente pela atenção do leitor. Acabei aprendendo muitas coisas interessantes com esse livro, principalmente a lição de se valorizar mais as propriedades e as possibilidades da ferramenta lápis e suas nuances de grafite.

This is fine if you're a complete beginner in art, as it doesn't go too into depth in anything (Which sort of bothered me)

But, like i said, it's fine for new artists who are just getting started.
