"Eat Your Way to Success and Learn How to Control Hunger - A Weight Loss Surgery Friendly Cookbook" by Wendy Campbell, Sandi Henderson is at first glance a great cookbook of easy to plan, make and share recipe ideas that anyone can enjoy! Yet, WLS patients can tell you that most recipes are not “made” for them and can be difficult to alter or adjust to our needs let alone served to our families. With their combined years as WLS patients and bariatric coaching practitioners, they know our pain, have struggled with food choices and understand the search for the right balance we are prescribed by our bariatric and surgical teams. Each recipe is clear, concise and provides serving size along with calorie and protein counts. Commonly heard mantra in the WLS community, “protein first!” is the basis for each recipe and ensures the reader will have an abundance of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I highly recommend: Chile Relleno Casserole, Pastrami and Swiss Cheese—Not on Rye Bread, Artichoke and Egg Spread, Sun-Dried Tomato and Basil Pesto Yellowfin Tuna Salad and Basil Pesto Italian Sausage and Cauliflower Casserole. Easily adapted to suit your individual taste is a big plus with these recipes. I have used these recipes for myself, my family and potluck events with many “Yums” and “You can make this again” being heard each time! 5 stars from this happy WLS patient!
