Dredd finds himself the only Judge in a Mega-City One that he barely recognizes. Joined by a trio of feral girls, he has taken on his most challenging case yet: to uncover what happened to the city he has sworn to serve and protect. Collects issues #5–8.
Interesting premise, but story feels fragmented with some clumsy joins between the chapters. The trouble is, Mega City One is as much a character in most classic Dredd stories as the eponymous lawman himself. Removing that entirely does give the benefit of the "fish out of water" feel, but leaves a gap that the writers can never quite deal with imo. Combine that with a presentation of Dredd that somehow just feels a bit off to me (and I can't quite put my finger on why), means I would struggle to recommend this.
Freed learns that different realities live in Mega-City Zero and to protect the children he needs to link into a world run by men who dominate women and face a new group of people dedicated to good grammar.
