Gerrit Hendrik Kersten was a Dutch Calvinist Christian minister, Theologian and politician.
In 1907, Kersten founded the Reformed Congregations and in 1918 he founded the political party Govermental Reformed Party ( SGP).
In 1922 he was voted into the parliament. His vote for cutting the budget for diplomatic representation at the Holy See, led to the fall of the Colijn Cabinet in 1925.
He viewed the 1940 occupation of the Netherlands by the Germans as punishment of god. In 1945 he was barred from parliament and from working as a journalist.
