Il a aussi occupé les fonctions de surveillant dans un établissement scolaire et a été libraire spécialisé dans le rayon Bande Dessinée à la librairie Marbot (Périgueux).

Jorun of the Forge was superb. This volume has a connection with the 1st volume of Dwarves: Redwin of the Forge.
Jorun is the son of Redwin. Lacking his father's skills as a smith, Jorun has a difficult childhood. It doesn't help that he is something of an annoying asshole. No really. But in time he joins the Iron Legion and uses his anger (special asshole powers?) to make something of himself. While he never really stops being an unmitigated prick, it serves him well in his profession.
Jorun's tale, strangely similar yet different from Redwin's is a grim one. Perhaps it is because Jorun is such an ass that it shapes him into the dwarf that not only can survive but thrive in the Legion. No more spoilers. Jorun as a character, I did not like nearly as much as his father Redwin, but the reappearance of Redwin and the awesome ending to the story (from the perspective of Redwin) make this a great volume. Jorun's fate somewhat mirror's Redwin's journey of self discovery. Dark, grim and violent-this is everything dark high fantasy should be. Nicolas Jarry's world building and story-telling abilities are something one expects in fanatsy novels, not ususally the case in the comic book medium. Don't let that fool you-this is a great French series for any fan of fantasy.

Another superb issue from Jarry. Fantastic art, marvelous writing with great characters. Jarry managed to write story so dense in under 70 pages for which some authors can't do with a 300+ novel. Jorun is a son of Redwin, the main character from the first issue of this series. Story draws many parallels with that issue, yet it's different in many ways.

Loved it, this started on a high note and ended with a bang. Although a standalone one needs to read Volume 1 to truly appreciate this story. This is French fantasy comic translated into English.
Each volume of the series focuses on one of the guilds in the Dwarves society, for the first time in the series we get back to one of the orders already covered before in a previous volume, that of the Forge, the blacksmith who can make crazy weapons, also they are normally the best warriors as they get advantage fighting with these weapons.
The book is titled Jorun of the Forge, he is the son of Redwin from Volume 1. I was so excited to get back to a known character, although he appears briefly, he does leave an impression. The story focuses on Jorun and his inner demon, his similarity to the fanatic side of his father’s past, a past his father had buried and escaped from, one Jorun wants to embrace. Frankly he is an asshole, a character I didn’t enjoy, this feeling passed on to his life story, still, the unpredictable ending left me hugely satisfied.
The artwork is excellent, It’s has been consistently superb all through the series.

I liked
Did I just read my new favorite episode ? Every page of this story felt really intense. Dwarves might be half the size of a human but the intensity of their feelings seems double.
I disliked
This is an overall feeling for the whole serie but greenskins seems to stand no chance at all versus the mighty dwarves. Not that I mind, but why would they keep suicide themselves on such scary opponents ?
So..
Jorun's story talked to me as I feel I've one at home (involving hopefully a lot less blood). Good thing I'm no smith myself though.

On a un début d'histoire assez triste. Jorun, est le fils de Redwin, ce dernier avait été dans la légion de Fer (voir le tome 1) et il avait tué le frère du capitaine actuel qui entraîne les nouvelles recrues dont Jorun …
En gros, Jorun va vivre un enfer en quelque sorte depuis son enfance car son frère, plus âgé, était le favori de son père et après, le fait que tout le monde respectait son père sauf le capitaine et que le jeune nain en ait après son père, cela a rendu les différentes situations très compliquées. Bref, après tout cela, il se considère comme quelqu'un sans talent particulier, surtout après la blessure qu'il a eue au visage.
En tous les cas, je suis bien content de ce qu'il devient par la suite, malgré sa blessure. Quand j'ai vu ce que Redwin devenait, je me disais qu'il allait changer mais au final, vu ce qu’il a fait en tuant tous les monstres qui poursuivaient les nains voulant se réfugier dans la forteresse où était stationner Jorun, quel *** franchement.
En conclusion, un tome assez bon je dois dire, avec des personnages assez opposés je dois dire mais j'ai l'impression que Redwin est vraiment tombé bas, alors que Jorun faisait de son mieux et tout ce qu'il voulait c'était apprendre et prouver qu'il pouvait être tout aussi bon qu'un autre nain. Bref, un très bon tome dans l’ensemble, les dessins toujours aussi superbes et j’ai hâte de voir ce qu’il se passera par la suite.

I loved this comic. Jorun and his brother are growing up but they aren't treated equal. Jorun and his dad can hardly stand each other. Jorun is given to be in some army and follow army training to get rid of his stubbornness and his anger.
Jorun did only have warm feelings for his mother and we follow him through all the difficult times and learning what is important in life...

Dawarves - Jorun of the Forge is full of world building, heroics, three-dimensional characters, eye popping brilliant art, cunning, loyalties, red herrings, goings on, politics, choices, twists, teaming up, cinematic camera shots, adventure and action! Brilliant and highly recommended! Crips high five! Get it when you can! :D

Un super volume. Ça fait plaisir de retrouver Redwin, le héros du 1er tome. L'histoire est bien ficelée et les personnages sont intéressants.

Nicolas Jarry wielokrotnie udowodnił już, że ma niezwykły talent do pisania ciekawych i angażujących historii fantasy. Opowieści, które z jednej strony opierają się na sprawdzonych gatunkowych schematach. Z drugiej zaś obok samej akcji poruszają także bardziej dramatyczne/emocjonalne tematy. Nie inaczej jest w przypadku tego albumu, gdzie obok potu, krwi i szczęku oręża można znaleźć złożone relacje ojca i syna.
Scenarzysta na kolejnych stronach przedstawia tu historię napędzaną niegasnącym gniewem Joruna. Pod wierzchnią warstwą fantazyjnej akcji (scen walk mogłoby być jednak odrobinę więcej) twórca bawi się emocjami bohatera, jego uporem i koniecznością znalezienia przez niego jego własnej życiowej drogi. Z każdą kolejną planszą widzimy jego rozwój, co nie oznacza, że nie popełnia on pewnych znaczących błędów odmieniających oblicze jego duszy....

Абсолютний (поки що) топ всієї серії. Знадобилося всього шість томів, аби дійти до ідеальної форми.
Традиційно для всієї серії, це історія взаємовідносин батьків і дітей.
Поки читаєш один сюжет, на його фоні розгортається інший, який має відношення до самого першого тому. Поки вважаєш неправим одного персонажа, поганцем та тираном виявляється інший, який переносив неприйняття своєї природи, своєї долі, на оточуючих, та вибивав з них цю свою ілюзію як тільки міг.
Це боротьба кількох поколінь за порозуміння.
Це зміни через катарсис та марні жертви. Жах безстрашного - мабуть, навіть так буде краще це описати.
Це настільки душевна історія, що в якийсь момент хочеться просто кричати від того, що відбувається.
Емоційная і зворушлива історія, яку просто не очікуєш від серії, де гноми мали просто махати бойовими сокирами, скорочуючи кількість демонів та іншої потолочі.

Un sixième tome qui marque le début d'un nouvel arc. On revient ici donc sur les personnages du 1er tome de Nains. Encore une fois, comme tous les tomes de cette saga, c'est sombre et dur. Les sentiments/attentes du lecteur sont malmenés. L'intrigue reprend parfaitement la dualité père/fils exposée dans le premier tome, tout en la renouvelant, riche des événements survenus auparavant. Une différence là, je trouve, avec la série Elfes, c'est qu'on ne tourne pas en rond et le destin des personnages a beaucoup plus de poids. Il n'y a pas là de demi-mesures et les intrigues vont au bout de ce qui est lancé, quelque soit cette fin.

J'ai été ravie de retrouver le dessin de Goux ainsi que les personnages de l'Ordre de la Forge (Redwin, Enïme) découverts dans le tome 1... jusqu'à ce que je comprenne qu'il s'agissait exactement de la même histoire. Sauf qu'au lieu de suivre Redwin, on suit son second fils, Jorun, qui ressent la même haine pour son père que ce dernier ressentait pour le sien.
Je suis extrêmement déçue.
Au moment où j'ai lu ce tome, j'ai hésité à continuer avant de me décider pour un nouveau cycle complet dans chaque Ordre nain. Quitte à me contenter des Ordres que je préfère ensuite. L'avantage, c'est que chaque volume ayant un personnage différent pour héros, il est possible de les lire indépendamment les uns des autres. Ceci dit, certaines passerelles commencent à se dessiner entre les différents Ordres et je reste curieuse de découvrir quels liens apparaîtront encore par la suite.
