I love this cookbook. I have tried at least 2/3 of the recipes in this book thus far. It has an abundant amount of great tasting recipes, lovely pictures of each dish, it's clearly laid out, easy to read, and contains easy to follow recipes. Just a couple of the recipes have been too "intensely healthy" that my children don't really enjoy them, but most have been yummy for all ages. The desserts are so good, so simple, and so healthy. We love the breakfast ideas. Main dishes have been great too.
Everything has turned out just as described and similar to the adjoining picture.
We are trying to eat grain-free, dairy-free, meat-free, which I why I like Dr. Fuhrman's books as he recommends the same foods we eat: GBOMBS: greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries, seeds.
Highly recommend for those wanting to eat as healthy as possible!

Totally helpful to strictly follow the Nutritarian "Eat to Live" diet. Beautifully photographed, easy to follow recipes... the banana oatmeal cookies are my absolute favorite thing when I have to have something sweet but healthy.
I also love the cinnamon spiced oatmeal which I switch up quite often.. it makes three portions and on the mornings I don't want to cook I just reheat my leftover oatmeal and throw some blueberries or bananas on top and walnuts.
His big daily advice is to eat GBOMBS...greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries and seeds.
It is working well for me.

I am very interested in Dr.Fuhrman's Nutritarian diet model and feel that it is a healthier option than strictly vegan. However, many of the recipes in this book require ingredients that are not in most people's pantry. Also, most of the recipes may be colorful and healthy but the ones I have tried are quite bland. Why is it necessary to eliminate all salt and seasoning to maintain the health benefits of vegetables? VegiZest or MatoZest is the seasoning listed in the recipes (~$19.00/8oz) - a little extravagant for me. I suppose if one is committed to recipes of this type, the taste buds would acclimate, but what about trying to serve this to the rest of the family that might not be "all in". I would rather have recipes that incorporate a variety of fruits and veggies and maybe some desserts that are made with healthier ingredient (veggie fat substitute, fruit sugar sub) but still very tasty. Many of the recipes in this book are pretty but lack taste....I believe taste is very important to making one feel satisfied after a meal. I will continue to experiment with the recipes in this book, but a little salt and sweetener will be needed to make the meals satisfying.

I almost gave this book additional stars for making me truly grateful I do not have digestive health problems. This food *might* taste ok, but it looks like many pages of mush. Most of the ingredients are easy to find with the exception of a few head-scratchers (spicy pecan vinegar???) but even if I had them, I have no interest in eating this food. It's also confusing as someone who is acquainted with many dietary restrictions why so many recipes are laden with FODMAPS, nightshades, soy products, and grains. Who is this cookbook for? Because if you can eat all that, there is an entire UNIVERSE of much yummier food out there.

Can’t wait to try some of these

I have been desperately battling weight for as long as I can remember. After reading Presto! By Penn Jillette I decided I was tired of being a fat fuck also. I had weight loss surgery, so food itself means little or nothing to me. I can eat the same thing over and over if I am getting results. Hell, after surgery I was on liquids and puréed foods for 3 weeks. Currently I’m on day 3 of The potato famine and losing more weight than I ever did on high protein and high fat. I’m ready to eat and eat well.

I have tried a couple recipes from this book and they were yummy but this book does not spark my interest in trying more recipes because of the pictures in this book. They all look pretty gross and just a bunch of mashed up food.

A lot of these recipes won't fly with my family but I have marked several of the soups to try this winter.

Cannot wait to try these!

I like this cookbook for its nutrition information included with each recipe, especially when planning calorie allowance for the day or tracking if on a plateau.Admittedly,I have just begun the eat to live aggressive weight loss six week plan, though.
There are some ,but not too many pictures of food in this cookbook.Recipes have yield,or how many they serve. Some serve two, some serve six.I skimmed a lot because I started salivating, and it's three fifty in the morning and not time to eat.

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. The author gave so many good hints and I loved not only that nutritional information was given for each recipe but that each recipe was accompanied by a gorgeous photo. While I am not now nor will I ever be a vegetarian/vegan, I did find some great recipes that I will try.

Dr. Fuhrman’s recipes can sometimes be a bit time consuming, but he has accomplished the job of reducing labor in this book. These recipes appeal to me more than those in his earlier books and the vast majority of the ingredients will be easy to find. I especially appreciate the full nutrition facts at the bottom of the page for each recipe.

This cookbook is ok... it's not bad, it just didn't have many recipes I wanted to make and the ones I did make were just ok, not stellar. There are other cookbooks I really enjoy that feature the same types of recipes. I would rather invest in them.

Clinical but important information for me to gain a healthy path to better living. Started the path and am invested in going on in this plant based food plan. Actively enjoying new meal choices and better shopping habits.

East, tasty recipes per the Nutritarian method of Dr Fuhrman. My only issue is that the beautiful photos in the book clearly contain additional ingredients not listed in directions.

Eat to Live is an excellent cookbook in my opinion because it has easy to follow recipes, gorgeous full color photos of the food and excellent information about nutrition. I love the very first sentence in the book which states, eating well does not have to be a time consuming, labor intensive process. A brand new word was introduced to me here. Nutritarian. It includes daily recommendations. They include eating a large salad as the main dish for one meal and to eat at least half a cup of beans. My favorite recipes are cauliflower and sweet potato soup, sweet potato stuffed mushrooms, lemon balls and mixed berry freeze. The only thing about this cookbook is meat gets no love.

Better than most fad diets in that it does not require an entirely plant based diet for those who choose to include small amounts of meat. Additionally, most of the ingredients are actual food. I'm always amused by food writers who caution readers to read labels and avoid any purchase with an ingredient they don't recognize, and then provide recipes with with food additives that they conveniently sell.

Some of the salad dressings in particular look promising.

Not a fan of most Dr. Fuhrman recipes. His black bean brownies and green, chocolate smoothie are exceptions. At least this cookbook has photos. A must have for cookbooks! Looking forward to reading his daughter’s cookbook (April 2021).

The ETL or nutritarian lifestyle works. Highly recommend “Eat To Live.”

Edit: This book was released during the year (2017) I did an ETL challenge. It’s been a few years. Thought I’d take another look, this time the ebook.
