The author is a master of descriptions. I could very clearly imagine the scenery and I loved the words she used. This novella is part 2 of a 3 part 'book' and it was quite short. I'd recommend reading all 3 right after one another because I spent too long before beginning the 2nd part and needed a re-introduction to the characters. Loved the scenes with the dragon Aeolius happily playing with the children despite his grumpy outlook on the situation.

I received a digital arc in exchange for an honest review. This is simply my opinion on the book and is not influenced by any external factor.

Just as well-written as the first, this installment starts where The Bound ended, leaving us to learn of Herveus’s current condition. We do get more character development in this one, seeing more bonding between Aveline and Aeolius and Aveline and Bramwell. Aeolius especially had some hilarious moments that really had me laughing out loud.

The only one criticism I can provide is that compared to the first, this novella seemed to lack as much action. However, the storyline was used to focus on training and setting the scene for the next book. Also, keeping in mind that this is only a novella, there is not a lot of room to diverge into side plots or specific details, and the author has done a really good job keeping on track.

Overall, 4/5, an excellent fantasy tale that really keeps you interested and wanting to know more.

This is the second novella in the action packed Hers to Save series. At the start of this novella the Prince and his forces are setting up for battle. Herveus returns but is gravely injured. A child is with him.. Aveline takes the child into her care, tries to help with Herveus’s care and begins her own battle training.

This fantasy adventure short is filled with interesting characters who go through great difficulties. The author weaves, battle, betrayal, kindness, survival and friendship all together to produce an easy to read page-turner of a storyline. As the story continues the narration describes the situation and the scenery so that the reader gets the feeling of the desperation and bravery of the characters. What I enjoyed the most was the growth of the characters both in fortitude and skills. It is a quick easy exciting read.
