Long ago, a witch turned us into monsters. Our only hope is to wait for the woman who could lift the curse.
A century later, we find her. Willow. Our miracle. She’s hidden away in an abbey full of orphans, while evil men plot to sell her as a bride.
We’ll break her out. But she’ll remain captive to her desires until we set her free…
*Author's Note: This is a MFM full-length ménage romance. There are no M/M scenes, just TWO hot, dominant warriors who claim the same woman... EXCERPT: “There is one more sign, the mark of a spaewife ready to come into her full power.”
“What’s that?”
“The mating heat.” I tasted each word as if they were delicious.
Her cheeks flushed immediately. A smile spread across my face. I should not enjoy taunting her, but she responded so prettily.
“I do not know anything about that.” She whirled and started the climb back to the keep. When I caught her wrist, she resisted.
“Careful, little captive.” I tapped my nose. “Wolves can smell a lie.” I leaned in closer. “Do you know what else we can smell?” For over a hundred years, the Berserker warriors have fought and killed for kings. There is but one enemy we cannot defeat: the beast within.
I have now completed the original Berserker series, and I'm on the spin off series. What I've assumed is the wanted witch, Yseult, made an appearance in every book in the original Berserker series. We'll see if Yseult makes similar appearances in the spin off series. Interestingly, she does have her own book in this series, where she's the FMC, in Night of the Berserkers. I'm looking forward to making my way to that book.
For the time being I'm skipping Part VI, #1 to the spin off series, simply because I cannot stand the MMC's name, Knut. Just, I can't. So I'm skipping straight to Part VII, or #2 in the spin off series. For context to #ReturnTheWitch, check out the spoiler at the end of my review for Sold to the Berserkers. I'll be editing it and adding more context that I left out soon.
Willow wants nothing to do with these two brutes who have taken her from her home in the middle of the night but Leif and Brock have plans for her. Well, Leif does. Brokk? He maaaaaayyyy be on the fence a bit.
I really like that even though Leif and Brokk share a "brother bond", there was bad blood between them before their bond existed and Willow's presence brings back those deeply buried feelings. I will admit that I was a bit shocked as to how that resolved but a little surprise is good, in this case.
Another thing that really caught my attention was the special belt that they made Willow wear so that her hands wouldn't wander. Her reaction was priceless! LOL!
I listened to an author awarded copy of this as part of The Berserker Brides Saga Box Set. Jasper Woodcock is the narrator and he does a really good job but, as I'm oft to mention, a second voice for the female perspective would've been preferred. Yeah, yeah. I like being spoiled. 😘 Even so, I'm looking forward to the next installment to the series!
Super convenient this pack of werewolves found an orphanage full of sexually mature, magic-compatible females just down the road from their werewolf mountain habitat.
Strong & sexy heroine and her Berserker mates - More developed story and plot - Favorite story in series to date
Another sexy addition to the Berserker Brides series, although this one also had a stronger story aspect to it that made me appreciate and anticipate when Willow, Leif, and Brokk would start to understand their union.
In this story, Leif and Brokk stumble upon Willow when she is on her way back from the town market where she was able to sell the medicine tincures and other goods created by the orphans at the Abbey. After some teasing they let her go on her way to the Abbey. Willow and her best friend Sage have both started to enter their monthly heat, but have been taught to see this as a curse, and not a gift that would signify that they were possessing of their own natural magic that made them perfect mates for the Berserkers. They have been taught that anything regarding their bodies and any desires felt are dirty and wrong, so Willow, who's monthly heat has been gaining in strength, has taken to chaining herself in a small building on the grounds. When the morning comes, Sage releases her from the chains, thereby hiding the fact that she has become a woman. Sage's cycles are not as strong, or frequent, so she has been able to hide them from the Friar, even though she is his favorite.
Before Willow can chain herself up, she hears something and realizes that the Abbey is being attacked. She goes to exit the small building, and finds that Brokk and Leif, the two sexy men she met earlier, are there and they are intent of making sure she goes with them. When she continues to try and escape, they bind and gag her to make sure she can't attract the attention of the Grey Men, who want all of the spaewives (natural witches), so they can use their blood and power to reanimate the Corpse King. So know it is up to them to protect Willow, even if it is from herself, but what is to happen with brother bonded Berserkers when one is not sure he wants a mate, or brother? Can they still unite to keep her safe? Will their tension keep their inner beast agitated so that even their mate can't soothe him?
I am going to stop there, as I do not want to accidentally provide any spoilers or twists, which this story does contain. This story is one of my favorite Berserker stories to date. If you like strong alpha men, who want to protect and satisfy you completely, as well as strong females smart enough to understand that to submit is a sign of power, strength, and trust, then this will be a series you can enjoy.
I volunteered to leave a honest review for an ARC of this book from the author.
With the exception of the first book in the Berserker Saga series, this is my favorite book so far. I love the storyline that runs through all these books, which is why I continue reading this series even though there are some things I don’t like. This book doesn’t have the amount of “discipline in it that rest of the series does, and for that I’m grateful. That’s not my thing, and the author does give warning that those things are in the book. For that reason, even though I don’t like it, I will not factor that into my rating.
Now, for what I didn’t like . . .
So, all in all the storyline is good and do want to see how it all ends. A downside with this book is that it ends pretty abruptly. I was kind of left with a WTF feeling.
I am more and more a berserker fan. I am most definitely rereading this series when I'm done. They're THAT good.
Willow has been told that she is evil and cursed. Her true nature has been hidden from her. Her mates, Leif and Brokk, who have an uneasy bond, tell her the truth.
Brokk's wife slept with Leif to make him angry and jealous. So this whole time poor Brook thinks women prefer Leif and he doesn't realize until the last minute that Willow loved him just as much.
It's actually cute because Brokk smiles more as a wolf and she loves sleeping on him in wolf form.
Leif has dubious control over his Beast and just not be left alone.
Willow finally realized that she's not evil. That she's got to be a Berserker's bride. It takes a while to convince Brokk. And as she bonds with them, she comes into her power. She is the lady of the Lake and she saves her mates when they become beasts in the fog, brought on by the Corpse King,
She is what will heal their bond. She brings Leif and Brokk together, they'll still quarrel, but they won't hate each other anymore.
"Long ago, a witch turned them into monsters. Their only hope is to wait for the woman who can lift the curse. A century later, they find her. Willow. Their miracle. She's hidden away in an abbey full of orphans, while evil men plot to sell her as a bride." Even though a brother bond had formed when Leif saved Brokk's life and Brokk saved Lief's, Brokk resent it. He didn't want to have to share a bond and open his mind to someone who had betrayed him centuries ago, only he had no choice. Now finding and saving Willow, their mate, they would need to share the mating bond as well. Is it possible? This was an emotionally fragile book where the Berserkers are concerned. Such fierce men in battle, yet Lee Savino has shown such a depth of hurt, rage, emotional fear, and love that just hooks you in and keeps you captivated. I swear, I can't get enough of this series.
That was cute and interesting. Willow wasn't too bad, but I wanted to consistently hit Brokk and then Leif for a variety of reasons, particularly the ones regarding their pasts.
This book is hot as hell. With not one but two strong stubborn Alpha’s this woman has her hands full. With good action and some very steamy scenes it’s a winner for me.
The Berserkers Brides Books are an entertaining read. This story is about Willow’s experiences with the berserkers after they raid the Abbey for their mates before the Corpse King takes them. It’s a good read with few errors; however, there’s not a whole lot of difference from one book to another except for the main characters. Since the books are so similar, I will have to use the same critique for each.
This is book 2 in the spin-off Berserker Brides series by Lee Savino. It's another wonderful story continuing this extraordinary adventure set in a paranormal world of shapeshifters. It's a full-length novel, and it's another wonderful addition to this entire saga. As I've indicated in all my reviews of the original Berserker and Berserker Brides books, this is definitely a series you'll want to read in order so you won't miss a single detail of the history, character development, or storyline.
This is the story of Willow, Leif, and Brokk. Willow is another of the "orphans" taken in by the abbey on the island where the story is set. She was taken in as a child, believing her parents had abandoned her. Like the other orphans at the abbey, she has been trained since early childhood to be seen and not heard. Unfortunately, that doesn't always work out so well for Willow. One day, upon her return to the abbey after a day at the local market selling the herbal tinctures, medicines, and other goods made by the orphans to financially support the abbey, she literally runs into two men just as she reaches the gates of the abbey. She is dumbstruck by their handsomeness. Who are these men? They certainly aren't any of the villagers she knows from her trips to sell merchandise. Whoever they are, what are they doing in front of the abbey at nearly nightfall? Are they merely travelers who've lost their way? Or do they have a more sinister purpose?
Leif and Brokk are two of the Berserkers. Ever since Fleur and Willow's friend, Hazel, escaped a gruesome and potentially fatal encounter near the abbey, the Berserkers have vowed to protect the spaewives (a type of witch) who have been kidnapped, bought, or otherwise acquired by the friar running the abbey. None of the "orphans" know anything of magic or spaewives. And the friar has a very specific purpose for the spaewives he has collected over the years but, of course, that's hidden from the "orphans" as well. When Leif and Brokk literally run into Willow in front of the abbey, they are scouting for a mission to rescue all the women of the abbey from the ultimate evil that wants to consume every single one of them.
Willow endures what she believes to be an evil possession that occurs every full moon. In order to keep the nuns and friar from discovering this, she hides and chains herself in a small shed at the back of the abbey every month, with the help of her friend, Sage. That night as she heads back to the shed to shackle herself, she hears rustlings and strange noises. Suddenly Leif appears, accompanied by a huge wolf. Willow's bound and gagged, and Leif carries her off. Willow's terrified. What does this man want of her? Why is he taking her from the only home she's ever known? Why is he accompanied by a huge wolf with whom he seems to be able to communicate? But she gets no answers. She's helpless to escape and warn her friends at the abbey, and she knows it.
From here, the action becomes fast and furious. Willow, Leif, and Brokk (who, as you may have guessed by now, is actually the wolf accompanying Leif) begin an incredible journey to escape an indescribably powerful evil that wants all the spaewives of the abbey for his own purposes. Leif and Brokk are completely cut off from their fellow Berserkers as they attempt to escape the minions of this vicious and malicious entity, and they have to survive by their wits. They also have to make Willow understand that they mean her no harm but only want to save her. In return, she just might have the ability to save both Leif and Brokk from the inevitable destruction that awaits them. With their line of communication with the Berserker pack completely cut off, and their ultimate goal of returning to the pack of Berserkers in jeopardy, the three go through trials and tribulations of epic proportions. Will they be able to avoid the ancient malevolence searching for Willow and the rest of the spaewives? Or will Leif and Brokk succumb to the violence of their inner Beast and end up destroying everything for which they've fought for centuries? They need Willow, and even though she doesn't yet realize it, Willow needs both Leif and Brokk just as much as they need her.
Once again, Lee Savino has shown her ability to create a gripping, edge-of-your-seat narrative that is a totally thrilling and engrossing novel. The newest in the Berserker Brides series is again the result of her amazing writing technique. This book grabbed me from the moment I started reading it. The complexity of the story, the alternate points of view from each of the characters, the development of the relationships in the book, and how this novel continues this new series makes for very compelling and enthralling reading. Lee Savino is an extremely talented author, and she has yet another success on her hands!
I would be remiss if I did not make one final comment. This is an ADULT book. It contains very adult themes, explicit language, sexual scenes, violence, and paranormal/shapeshifter elements. If you don't enjoy erotic romance containing these elements, please carefully consider your purchase before buying this or any other book in either of these series. PLEASE DON'T BUY ANY BOOK IN A GENRE YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY AND THEN LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW OF THE BOOK AS IT'S SIMPLY NOT FAIR TO THE AUTHOR! She works hard to provide such great books, and if you know before you purchase any book that you'll object to the subject matter contained therein, you're doing not only yourself, but the author, an extreme disservice. But if you do enjoy spicy, erotic romance with paranormal/shapeshifter elements, I would definitely recommend both the entire Berserker and Berserker Brides series.
The second book in the Berserker Brides series. This is a ménage shifter storyline of Brokk, Lief, & Willow. As with the other women, Willow doesn’t know she is a Spaewife. A type of witch that is meant to mate with Berserkers. Willow thinks there is something wrong with since she cant control her sexual urges during a full moon. She has taken to binding herself in a locked shed to keep her secret hidden from the friar. The friar is a corrupt religious man in association with an evil mage. Brokk & Lief developed a brother bond in battle. But harbor jealousy and resentment between them. They need Willow to heal a bond between them and with Willow so they can sooth their beasts. This is another intriguing and twisting tale. You almost wonder if these three will get their HEA. I like all the Berserker stories, this story is a dark romance with some very hot, sexy, & bdsm scenes. The story continues with the next Berserker Brides book.
✓ Multiple pov's ✓ PNR ✓ Fated mates ✓ Shifter ✓ Entertaining plot - 3.5 / 5 ✓ Mature language ✓ Fast paced ✓ Spice 🌶🌶🌶.5 / 5 ✓ HEA
Willow's story begins when she stumbles upon two warriors - Brokk and Leif - on her way back from the town market, where she was able to sell the goods created by her "sisters" at the abbey.
At first Leif and Brokk tease her a bit and let her go. Willow began to enter her monthly heat, but she and the other girls have been taught to see it as a curse.
Before she can chain herself, she hears something and realizes the abbey is under attack. Brokk and Leif find her and gag her to make sure they don't attract the attention of the Grey Men.
There is some bad blood between Leif and Brokk, and perhaps Willow can heal Brokk and Leif's bond brother.
I love the Berserkers more with every book that is added to the saga. Willow, Leif and Brokk are so hot together! When the mating heat hits, it hits hard. But I also love the story line. Lee Savino has created a whole clan of amazing characters, and we see the return of characters from previous books, even though you can read these books as standalone stories. Great job capturing the feel of living as a Berserker or as a spaewife. I feel like one with the characters despite the different land and different species of people. In such an uncivilized land, there are hopes and disappointments and violence, and Ms. Savino portrays her stories in a very entertaining manner. Another great read! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Captured by the Berserkers by Lee Savino is a quick paced paranormal romance with two hunky Berserker warriors and one innocent, yet strong woman. I loved these characters, alternately amused, frustrated and enthralled these three were fun to read. There's a good deal of emotional depth, exploring wants, clinging to denials and ultimately acceptance. It's another page turner for all the best reasons - the chemistry is super hot! and of course there's suspense within the plot as well. Overall, well written, a fun read with drool worthy warriors who win their woman and find their HEA.
Did not like this at all. It's all well and good practicing BDSM and whatever kinks you enjoy, great even, but I felt like in this one there was no care from Leif and Brokk whatsoever. They were so busy trying to one up each other and fighting over Willow that there wasn't any kind of actual care towards her shown except very superficially. The kinks were under negotiated and just bleh. Their dominance came off as heavy handed and insincere. There was nothing wrong with any of the kinks themselves, just that for a "mate" that they were going to share forever there was very little actual caring shown. Like they could have gone out and found some random woman and it would have done as well.
Lee Savino has written another winner with this next book in the Berserkers series! I could hardly put it down from start to finish. Ms. Savino pulled me into the story and brought out so many emotions. Poor Willow feels horrible for the way the full moon makes her react. Brokk and Leif both have deep feelings for Willow, but they have old anger with each other causing problems. On top of all that, they have to deal with the Mage and his grey men! All the odds seem to be stacked against them. Will they, and their love, survive? I highly recommend you read and find out.
The Berserkers raid the Abby that Hazel told them of. Ljef and Brokk are bond brothers. When they find Willow, Lief believes they have found their made. Brokk is not convinced. Brokk harbours resentment against Lief, for a past wrong over a women, and Lief guilt. Through Lief tries to make things right, Brokk is not forgiving. Willow finally has all she dreamed of, X2, but fears the way Lief and Brokk make her. It takes a near tragedy to bring them together. Good story.
The berserker clan finally made it to the Abby to save all those magical orphanage girls. Then the evil King who is the mage used his power started through a fog and he has a lot more zombie like men in his army seeking out where the girls are. Brokk and Leif who are Northman like Vikings saved Willow who was one of the orphans and who also is their mate. Yseult the witch shows up again in this story too, but not till the end. Happy Ending with lots of submissive and dominant sexual play.
I love the Berserkers and their women. I loved the story of Brook, Willow and Leif. The bond between Brook and Leif and why they had /have the issuses they do. I am amazed everytime one of the mates tries to run off but always enjoy when they admit their true feelings and give in to them. Love how Willow heals the emotional as well as calming their beasts. Can not wait for the next one. Love love this series so much.
The story of Willow, Leif and Brokk. The Bersekers rescue Willow from the Abbey and take her as their mate. What is different about this book is that Leif and Brokk don’t really see eye to eye. There are things in the past still unresolved. This creates a tension between them all. Willow is a strong woman who has a hard time believing in her magic. A lot of emotions are running wild in this story.
I enjoy reading this book. I wish there was more to have read. I would love to find out if the made it back. It left you on a cliffy. But still left a satisfying effect since you get the feeling they worked everything out.
I really felt Brokk pain when he speaks of his betrayal. And Leif pain of wanting forgiveness from him. Their bond is one that I enjoy reading about. And I look forward to the other books.
Often times a series starts to wane after the first two or three books , but this series and side series is still going strong. The heroines have just the right mix of strength and vulnerability, with strong male characters that enable them to remain empowered despite their submission. I am eagerly awaiting the next instalment.
I enjoy all of the books in the series. The zombies are kinda creeping my out though. I love how each new book adds another layer to the series. I didn't give the book a 5 star rating because I felt that there wasn't closure. That could be because the next books are so interconnected that it couldn't have closure without being a spoiler of the next book. An enjoyable, quick read.
She has a hard time accepting her own passionate feelings as she had been taught guilt. Now two wild Berserkers have her and retrain her thinking while escaping from an evil magi and their own inner demons. Can they convince her to love them? So much action and steamy reads.
These two berserkers have a long standing grudge between them and if they can't get over it, they won't survive the mating bond. Willow has no idea of her heritage, so when the men take her, she fears for her life. There are worse things than the two men who show her love and care until all Willow wants to do is care for them.
A good story. I was afraid that it wasn't gonna end well. I'm happy it all turned out well for them. I'm wondering how they are gonna kill the King trying to take all the Brides away from the pack. Can't wait to see what happens next in the storyline. I recommend all the books in both series. Read them in order or you will be lost
The relationship between Willow, Leif, and Brokk was filled with tension. I was not certain that Lief and Brokk could ever come together to claim Willow. The battle at the end was epic. I was so relieved that the witch came to the rescue. I have read several of the Berserker books. They are easy and entertaining to read.
I have a great love for shifter books of all kind. Loved the transformation of the shifter, their shift, and how the love of finding their mate settle their beast. It has everything you want in a romance about shifters, awesome characters, action, and hot steamy scenes? It will not disappoint in any way and keep them coming?
This is different from the other Bessemer books I've read in the series. Wow I loved this one with easy going Leif and Brokk the dark bloody one. The mystery behind their bond and how it came to be. I was floored!!! Was not expecting this. I loved how Willow was learning from them both... I loved it!!!
