Can Daisy Hobson log off for love...?

Daisy Hobson lives her whole life online. A marketing manager by day, she tweets her friends, instagrams every meal and arranges (frankly, appalling) dates on Tinder. But when her social media obsession causes her to make a catastrophic mistake at work, Daisy finds her life going into free-fall . . .

Her sister Rosie thinks she has the answer to all of Daisy's problems - a digital detox in a remote cottage in Cumbria, that she just happens to need help doing up. Soon, too, Daisy finds herself with two welcome distractions: sexy French exchange-help Alexis, and Jack, the brusque and rugged man-next-door, who keeps accidentally rescuing her.

But can Daisy, a London girl, ever really settle into life in a tiny, isolated village? And, more importantly, can she survive without her phone?

I read the paperback version, as I only read paperbacks or hardbacks. I read The Good Girlfriend's Guide to Getting Even, which I loved reading and highly recommend readers to read it. Once I had finished reading The Good Girlfriend's Guide to Getting Even, I instantly became a fan of Anna Bell. When I found out that Anna Bell had a new book out It Started With A Tweet I knew I just had to read I. And I totally just loved reading It Started With A Tweet. Oh dear it seems Daisy Hobson has got herself into a pickle. First of all Daisy forgot her own sisters birthday. Oh how could she! Then Daisy gets the evening for her date totally wrong she got the day completely mixed up. With Daisy's social media obsession she types out a tweet to her friends, but little does Daisy know it is about to land herself in some really big trouble. It stated With A Tweet is very funny. That's what I love about Anna Bell she injects so much fun into her novels. I seriously recommend reading books by Anna Bell. I'm so looking forward to Anna Bell publishing her next novel. If you love reading Sophie Kinsella books like I do then I guarantee you'll love Anna Bell's books.

Daisy Hobson shares everything online with most of her London based friends doing the same. She also goes on disastrous tinder dates with the most despicable of men. She isn't the most likeable of person.

One day enough is enough after she finds herself out of work due to the internet. She is sent on a digital detox to Cumbria. Her phone is thrown away and she finds out who is really there for her. I love how at first she thinks it's a hell hole just because the internet has been took off her. If it was my phone people wanted me away from the spot to take me would be Keswick (mine never works there).

Daisy learns many lessons in the book and becomes a much more likeable person, who is morally better than many of the other characters. Her and Jack have an excellent love hate relationship and I enjoy the conversation they have about tourists with her saying you don't sound London yourself. By the end when sitting with her so called friends in London the hash tag is who cares.

The moral to the story is don't believe everything you read online and sometimes pulling away from it can make you happier. It also shows happiness can be found and their is no need to share everything with the world.

I will certainly be reading Anna Bell's books again.

5 Words: Family, attraction, addiction, humour, resilience.

It took me a few chapters to get into, but I stuck with it because Anna Bell's books make me laugh so much.

Daisy is so full of life that she comes alive on the page. She was slightly frustrating at times, but the best characters always are, and I quickly grew to love her.

Although there is a spark, romance is not at the heart of this book. I focuses much more on family and friendship and I absolutely loved it. It felt refreshing. And friendship is one of my favourite things to read about. Fills my heart with joy.

It's a clever book, with the catalyst being a mistake all too easy to make. Juggling social media accounts is hard.

Could I survive a digital detox?

Probably, but it wouldn't be nice. My friends all live in my phone, in my pocket!

Could you?

Seeing as I have quite a dry, sarcastic sense of humour, it can take quite a lot to be able to make me laugh. I don't mean a little titter, I mean a proper belly laugh. The sort which brings tears to your eyes, pain to your sides, and a grin bigger than a Cheshire cat's.

Wanna know something shamazing?

Anna Bell had me belly laughing after a couple of pages. A COUPLE OF PAGES! I'm not even joking! The fact that I was able to laugh out loud in such a short space of time, made me incredibly excited to see what the rest of the story held. Let me tell you now, I was not disappointed, at all.

The author's fantastic, dry and witty humour was evident for the entire duration of the book. It didn't even falter once, nor did it show any sign of being a fluke - the humour was like another character altogether! Absolutely brilliant!

What I loved most about this book (aside from the humour), was how in tune with today's society the storyline was. I mean, a lot of us, if not all of us, are glued to our phones or social media for a large proportion of the day. FOMO (fear of missing out) springs to mind! Heaven forbid we not check our phones for an hour -puts phone away-! With that in mind, I am pretty sure that a lot of people will be relating with Daisy whilst they're reading this story. Although, I'm hoping that nobody has followed in her footsteps to a T by writing a boo boo on social media....the WRONG social media. I'm mean I know, but I snlaughed. Truth be told that if it happened to me, the chances of me laughing are incredibly slim, but I just couldn't help myself. Such clever, clever writing.

I found the whole premise of 'It Started With a Tweet', incredibly witty and delightfully executed. The whole situation with the 'digital detox' was a genius idea, although I did think that Daisy's sister was a little bit harsh to begin with haha. Saying that, whilst Rosie was an extremely tough character to warm to at first, I enjoyed watching her come out of her shell, revealing a character who not only had a heart of gold, she just wanted to be loved back.

There's a lot of fun character's to get to know in this book, some more memorable than others though I have to admit (I am saying nothing ;) ). Don't worry though, that isn't a bad thing at all - once you read the book you'll know exactly what I mean. Oh, and yes, I laughed at those parts as well!

Personally, I think that Anna Bell has outdone herself with her latest novel! Don't get me wrong, I have loved reading the authors previous books, but 'It Started With a Tweet' has got to be my most favourite Anna Bell novel so far. Not only that, I think it's her best book yet! I have everything crossed that Rosie's character may pop up in another story later down the line, as I really do feel that she has a lot more to give.

This book is utter genius, a laugh out loud work of art from all angles. Witty, heart-warming, relatable and incredibly refreshing; Anna Bell has written a belter of a novel which will keep you grinning until the very last page. Full of insightful and tender moments regarding family ties and loyalty, 'It Started With a Tweet' covers all eventualities by highlighting the importance of paying attention to the things that are right under our noses - NOT social media.

If I could read this book for the first time, every time, I would be one incredibly happy lady. I am envious of every reader who gets to indulge in this book for the very first time!

I absolutely LOVED this book and I could not have wished for anything better where Anna Bell is concerned. A truly feel-good, hilarious, brilliant, and huggable read, 'It Started With a Tweet' really is a book to lose yourself in and savour every single moment.

This truly is the authors best book yet. Fantastic!

Thanks Bonnier Zaffre.

As aparências iludem.

Utterly hilarious and a perfect way to spend a few hours while waiting for a transfer back the airport at the end of the holiday. Of course I had I read this at any point over the previous 2 weeks I would have been saying generally that is a perfect poolside read.

From the fun and clearly social media addicted start of the book Daisy soon makes a vital error tweeting something inappropriate from the wrong twitter account, which since I now have multiples I can completely understand the fear.

Her sister comes to the rescue after the errant tweet goes viral and encourages Daisy up to the wilds of Cumbria for a digital detox, plus her own ulterior motive too.

I loved every single second of this book, Daisy was just fabulous and Iliked the various men she met too - from Dominik that triggered the mess she is in, to Jack and Alexis out in the countryside. All 3 different but gorgeous!

I read this without stopping in about 4 and half hours give or take some eating of lunch simultaneously. I just couldn't and didn't want to put it down as I was enjoying myself so much.

If like me you understand the addiction of social media the odds are you will also adore this book. I'm also a massive fan of this authors writing and she is getting better and better with each book, and each fab idea for a story. Wonder what the next one will bring.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bonnier Zaffre for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Hands up if sometime since the dawning of social media you’ve lived your life through it’s lens? You know, thinking about how you can get that great looking photo on Instagram or Facebook or that hilarious tweet on Twitter. I know I have!

If that’s the case you’ll really be able to identify with Daisy. You’ll be laughing as well as cringing with her, as she plunges headlong into her digital detox with her sister Rose.

I really enjoyed this book, it was so easy to read making me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. That’s not to say that it didn’t have some serious parts to it as well. I loved the neighbours she meets and I especially enjoyed the episodes with the mud, the barn dance and the village shop.

This is my first book by Anna Bell and it certainly won’t be my last.

I definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a feel good read that’ll make you think.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Bonnier Zaffre for my digital copy.

This book was just alright. Not exactly what I was expecting, but not terrible. I didn't enjoy how rushed the ending felt. This random mash up of making everything all better, but yet allowing Daisy to be a bit judgemental about her friend's phone use. Also, definitely chick lit and not a romance in the way you would expect a romance to be.

I knew I was going to like this book. The title, the cover, the synopsis – ah, yes. And I was not wrong. I laughed, I cringed, I nodded knowingly. The setting was also super cute to read about, and the romances … well, the romances had me wondering how this book would end, and wow was I surprised at the plot twist in here! But it culminated perfectly, and I commend Anna Bell on a book well written. If you are a fan of chick lit or find yourself stuck on social media a bit too much, pick up It Started With a Tweet.

This is one of those books that will hook you in right from the word go because it is such a character driven novel, you will feel like you are hanging out with a friend and watching her as her life falls to pieces and she works out how she is going to build it back up again. Parts of this book felt a lot like Sophie Kinsella's latest novel in that sense and then there ere other parts that had me crying with laughter one moment and then thinking about my own life and evaluating it in others.

So there's my summary, but what did i especially like about these characters and the way I was made to think?

I really loved the fact that the main character of this novel had flaws. She is just like everyone else and so I found he really easy to relate to right from the word go. She also has friendships and family relationships that she ought to be able to rely on but she's not sure whether she can or not, something which is becoming increasingly more common as friendships and families are spread further and further across the globe.

The relationships that the main character has and the relationships that she develops with new people that she meets over the course of the novel are all really interesting to read about and to watch change and grow. I loved that she developed more of a relationship with her sister, more out of necessity than anything and the fact that she develops new relationships with people who get to know her outside of her London life, that was a really interesting difference to draw on when reading.

There are some real comedy moments in this book. Things happen and people say things and they had me laughing out loud. But this book did make me think about my own addiction to my phone and to social media. I am sure that this book wouldn't have taken me as long to read if I hadn't stopped every few chapters to Tweet about it or to update on Goodreads, or check my Instagram notifications and I have noticed other people's phone usage IRL since as well.

Thank you to Anna Bell for writing a novel and characters that are so easy to relate to, so entertaining but made me think at the same time. I so enjoyed this book and I think you will too.

To me, a contemporary romance can veer very quickly into the cheesy/ overly predictable/ ridiculous however, gets it bang on for me. It's a great mix of humour with interesting characters and a fun and engaging storyline.

I really loved daisy as a character. Even at the start, when she seems a little silly, I found myself warming to her, especially as the novel continues and you realise that, although she definitely has her flaws (as do many of her friends), she has got a likable character when she's not completely absorbed in her Social Media life. After the first few chapters I really got into it and found myself completely invested in Daisy's life. Though some parts are kind of predictable, there's a lot of surprises too, and I thought the storyline itself - about our ties and dependence on the digital world - was really relevant, and a bit different as well.

It Started With A Tweet is a really fun read that will definitely leave you smiling; it's how I wish more books in this genre could be - charming, funny and sweet, without being too cheesy. A great read and one I would definitely recommend - and as my first Anna Bell novel, I'll certainly be reading more when I fancy a warm and witty story!
[4.5/5 stars]

*Book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

Anna Bell has a new book out?! Well, then give it to me immediately. I love her writing style and was really excited to start reading this one. The title is perfect for it and the story really makes you think.

We get to follow Daisy Hobson, who is on her phone constantly, whether it’s tweeting her friends, uploading a pic on Instagram or looking for dates on Tinder. She is a marketing manager and really obsessed with social media. It’s not surprising that she gets confused and mixes her accounts and people up. So a big mistake happens and everything goes downhill from there. Her sister Rosie thinks she needs a serious detox and Daisy finds herself in a remote cottage in Cumbria. Can she survive without her phone?!

Luckily, there are two very nice distractions: French exchange help Alexis and Jack, the man next door.

All the characters added something special to the story and I think they were all very well lined out. The storyline had a great flow and it always seemed very authentic. I sometimes wanted to shake Daisy and make her act differently though.

This book is full of LOL moments and I also really liked the sitting. Anna Bell puts a lot of detail in her writing and makes it really gripping. Her style is modern, fresh, charming, warm and very exciting. It’s a wonderful romantic comedy, full of unique moments and scenes.

The encounters between main heroes were funny and enjoyable.

The idea for the story was very up to present-day.

I liked also the story of Rosie's marriage problems.

just because they’ve had their happy ending doesn’t mean they’re living happily ever after

There were interesting (and witty) supporting characters.

Nonetheless, the style of writing, of holding my attention was far from perfect. I can't tell I was bored but... I don't know. Something was lacking, like to me.

"It started with a tweet" is about Daisy starting a new life in Cumbria after her digital addiction led to a serious mistake on her job.

The story was perfectly enjoyable with a surprisingly ungrumpy "rugged man-next-door", a great personal development and a really well done little comeback towards the end.

Daisy lives her life through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat until the wrong twit gets her fired. Jobless and soon probably homeless, Daisy accepts her sister’s proposal to spend a week in a farm in Cumbria on a digital detox, i.e. no phone, no computer, no internet. No longer able to check her emails and her social media, Daisy finds herself writing letters to communicate with her friends. Also, this week off technology seems to be the right opportunity for Daisy and her sister Rosie to mend their strained relationship. And between the hired boy with French accent and the grumpy neighbor who always turns up in the moment of need, Daisy finds also time for some romance.

I have to say I really enjoyed this novel. When I first read the blurb I thought it sound really interesting and I wasn’t disappointed. The plot is entertaining, captivating, and very close to reality – nowadays everyone is glued to their cellphones, their emails, and their social media accounts. And the characters are engaging and hilarious, especially Daisy who finds herself in ridiculous situations just to get access to Facebook. A witty and refreshing novel that will make you laugh out loud, perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella.

Five stars for a great read. Anyone who sits on a bus or a train or walking down the street tapping or swiping their phone should read this book. And when they recognize themselves - do something about it.
Daisy lives her life on-line. Until overtired and over-worked she makes a dreadful mistake. Dragged into the wilderness by her sister, who she does not have the best relationship with, she has to learn to let go. There are laughs, tears and misunderstandings as Daisy learns to live life first hand.
Daisy and sister, Rosie were a good double act, the location was well described and the nosey locals were well drawn. And oh, never trust a Frenchman:)
I recommend this book.
