#ReturnTheWitch, Part VIII

For context check out the spoiler at the end of my review for Sold to the Berserkers

I already mentioned this in a status update, but this past Friday evening I watched I Married a Witch (1942) with Veronica Lake. It's a Hollywood precursor to Bell, Book, and Candle (1958), which influenced the TV show most will recognize, Bewitched. (Btw my favorite witch movie remains Bell, Book, and Candle. Most of the gifs I used in my review of Mated to the Berserkers come from that movie. If you liked Bewitched I highly recommend it). Watching I Married a Witch reminded me of the #ReturnTheWitch ordeal and this series of books that I'm determined to make it through.

I have more than one motivation for writing these reviews. It came to my attention several weeks ago that I have a troll who enjoys stalking my page and reporting my reviews. Their messages referencing me included a plethora of insults (where I take inspiration for my Goodreads name). Without naming names, the author this troll is passionately advocating for was involved in the #ReturnTheWitch contretemps (not Lee Savino). So, I'm going to milk this for all it's worth. I have to admit I take a perverse pleasure in knowing that these reviews are likely being reported - which means some Goodreads employee is having to read smutty MfM shifter ménage reviews 😂. What really makes me chuckle is I found a comment from one of the authors involved, and she recommended her attorney to other authors, saying that's how she reports reviews on Goodreads. She pays her attorney to write Goodreads Legal a letter. It makes me laugh to think someone at Goodreads Legal has likely read through a lot of my reviews for smut books. For clarity, for when this review is inevitably reported, the #ReturnTheWitch controversy has influenced my reading experience. In fact, without #ReturnTheWitch occurring I likely never would have picked up this series.

From The Love Witch (2016)

Unfortunately, this book in the series didn't check off all the boxes for me. I think fans of this author and this series will enjoy it. Despite shifter ménage not being my go-to choice, I have enjoyed many of the books in this series. My favorite, 4 star books, tend to be the ones where there's more conflict in the plot, more backstory to the heroines & Alphas, and more mythology. While well-written (truly I've noticed a huge growth in the author's writing as I read through the series), this book felt gentler and simpler. I did enjoy the softer punishment scenes - they weren't as harsh as in previous books, which was a nice change of pace. For now though, I'm taking a break from the Berserker Brides series, but will be returning before the year is up.

Oh, I almost forgot - the witch. In this installment Yseult made one quick appearance. She simply gave the heroine medicine and directed all the characters to a cave for safe keeping. It was rather brief. Now, there has been an update. Formerly the other author who wants Lee Savino's witch character returned to her, had not published her witch character yet (despite claiming it was copied). She has recently released the witch. The other author's witch character can be found in a continuing story on Kindle Vella. The largest similarity I'm seeing is both witches in both stories are reverent of nature. There's an earthy vibe to both stories. Does this rise to the level of copyright infringment? Uh, imo no. What's interesting is the author who claimed her witch character was copied and 'should be returned' is publishing her witch character years after Lee Savino. This would never make it in copyright claims court. The plaintiff has to prove their work was accessible before the person accused of plagiarism plagiarized.

Healing Wounds and Minds

Believing she's worth something in this world, something more than being used as a sacrifice or treated like a whore, proves to be a tougher challenge for Rolf and Thorbjörn than facing the Grey Men. Sage, who has a beautiful heart, has repeatedly been told that she's worthless unless she's pleasing another. I love the patience and love Thorbjörn and Rolf show even when the situation is dangerous. Of course, like Sage, I also like the punishments and bits of humor that arise.

Despite the sad pasts that all three bring to the table, I really liked this addition to the series. While the timeline overlaps the other books and has the same basic premise of finding a mate for the Berserkers in order to tame their beast, this book goes in a bit of a different direction and stays interesting.

I listened to an author awarded copy of this as part of The Berserker Brides Saga Box Set. Jasper Woodcock is the narrator and he does a really good job but, as I'm oft to mention, a second voice for the female perspective would've been preferred. My ears like being spoiled. 😘 Even so, I'm looking forward to the next installment to the series!

Rolf and Thorbjorn are men who were cursed to be monsters until they could find the one woman who could be their mate and save them. Sage was orphaned and was locked up with other orphans, and a holy man who really was a monster. Then she was kidnapped, which was actually a rescue in disguise.

I have read all of the Berserker books and I have loved them all. However, this book is my new favorite of them all. It is so pain-filled and beautiful. Rolf and Sage are terribly broken and with Thorbjorn's help, they heal and turn into a strong and happy unit.

It took a lot of work for them to get to their happy ending. There are a lot of trust issues and a lot of pain on all sides. I feel like it's just so honest and so open. It's a really good HEA and it's one that shows that you are never too broken to get your HEA.

I received an ARC for an honest review of this book.

SHE WAS OUR MEDICINE, AND WE NEEDED MANY DOSES TO BE WELL

The saga continues with the Berserkers going to the Abbey and the rescue of the spaewives that are being held to be given to the Corpse King as brides. The more brides, the more powerful he will become, feeding off of their power. The spaewives do not know the powers they possess and have been held at the Abbey, since they were babies, told they were orphans.

As the Berserkers storm the Abbey, it becomes total pandemonium with screaming, crying, shouting, and lots of fear to the Spaewives. They are in fear of their lives as these monstrous men come in and start grabbing them. Sage has been the scapegoat for the girls, especially the younger ones, trying to protect them from the Friar. She accepts his ire, abuse, and sexual advances to keep the younger one safe.

The plot will pick up where the Alphas have sent out the Berserker Warriors to the Abbey to rescue and claim their mates. They learn that the Abbey holds these young girls, which turns out to all be Spaewives. The Berserker need them as mates to calm the inner beast they have been cursed with for over a century.

While the girls are in fear, the true danger is not with the Berserkers, but with the Friar, Grey Men, and especially the Corpse King. Thorbjorn and Rolf are warrior brothers that have bonded in battles, and they will claim their mate, Sage. “These monsters want me for their own.” Sage does not feel worthy of them; she tells them “Take a mate who is worthy. She will be clean and pure, everything you deserve.” Her mates will tell her, “You are precious, our dear, sweet mate. And we will discipline you until you know how perfect, and worthy you are.”

The battle of the Grey Men, dispatched from the Corpse King, will be a matter of life and death for the Berserkers and the Spaewives. For Thorbjorn and Rolf, keeping Sage safe and guarded will take them not only into battle with Grey Men but when Sage becomes ill, they must find a way to get her to safety and allow her to heal. Making a bargain with a witch is unsettling, especially for Rolf, but Sage’s life is in danger. They will enter a place of supernatural powers and time will stand still on one plain and move forward on another. The new and most critical battle for these Berserkers will be winning Sage over to understand they are her true mate, and they desire no other but her. “You are safe from all enemies, for we are the biggest monsters you will ever meet.”

I look forward to the next book in the series when we meet Laurel who worked in the kitchen and the two Berserkers who will claim her as their mate, Ulf, and Haakon.

The series is a unique erotic tale that will have Berserkers, cursed shifters, claiming Spaewives as their mates. In the ménage scenes it is only M-F-M, and never M/M. The scenes are detailed and intense. The violence is graphic but goes to the life of being a Berserker. This is an ongoing saga, but each story reads well as a standalone.

I received this as an ARC and giving an honest review. Sage is one of many that have been orphaned at the abbey. She and her sisters were told that they would, when they were of age, be sold to a rich gentleman to be his bride. All lies. The friar cares nothing for these women. He is a greedy man. That being said, Sage is the target for the Friar's "affections." She is always makes sure that his attention is not on any of the others. His cruelty to be diverted to her alone.

When the Berserkers come, Sage and the others do not know what to make of it. Sage sacrifices herself to them to protect the others. Rolf and Thorjborn only see their mate. They wish not to hurt her but protect. Sage goes with them and a first feels she has not changed her status. That these men are just like the Friar. But she soon learns that they are more kind then evil. But can she forgive herself and learn to love them as they are growing to love her.

The Berserker series is so sweet and yet to mystifying. Sage being innocent and yet brave. And yet, she also doesn't believe herself to be that way. She believes she is weak and unworthy. Rolf has a past which torments him. Thorjborn, too has a past, but when you read of it, it is sad. All them together bring about a heart that is in need of repair. Sage is more the damaged one. Our boys, fight to keep showing her that she is worthy and that they will not have any other.

I look forward to the next story about Laurel. I cant wait.

Kidnapped by the Berserkers is book 3 in the Berserker Brides series by Lee Savino. It's another awesome story continuing this exceptional adventure set in a paranormal world of shapeshifters. It's a full-length novel and another wonderful addition to this entire saga. As I've indicated in all my reviews of the original Berserker and Berserker Brides books, this is definitely a series you'll want to read in order so you won't miss a single detail of the history, character development, or storyline.

This is the story of Sage, Thorbjorn, and Rolf. Sage is another of the spaewives living at the abbey on the island where the story is set. She was taken in as a child, believing herself an orphan. She knows nothing of her life before the abbey. Like the other spaewives at the abbey, she has been trained since early childhood to be meek, unassuming, a hard worker. Sage is small, thin, frail but somehow she's caught the attention of the friar who runs the abbey with an iron fist. She learned early that the friar was no holy man. Every few years, he picks a favorite from among the "orphans," always looking nearly identical: small, blonde, with a childlike face. Unfortunately for Sage, she not only meets that description but has also caught the friar's eye. She's now the friar's current favorite. He calls for her nearly every night. If she's lucky, she only gets a beating. But if she isn't lucky, well...things get so much worse. Still, despite her small frame and fragile-appearing exterior, Sage has the heart of a warrior. She knows being the friar's "favorite" is protecting the other women in the abbey so she endures.

Thorbjorn and Rolf are two of the Berserkers. Ever since Fleur and Sage's friend, Hazel, escaped a gruesome and potentially fatal encounter near the abbey, the Berserkers have vowed to protect the spaewives who had been kidnapped, bought, or otherwise acquired by the friar. None of the "orphans" know anything of magic, spaewives, or Berserkers. And, as always, the friar (once again no "holy" man) has a very specific purpose for the spaewives which has always been carefully hidden.

One evening, after her friend, Willow, returns from the local marketplace, Sage finds her in the chapel. It's nearly the full moon, when Willow needs to seclude herself in the shed at the back of the abbey's garden. As Sage watches Willow move through the abbey gardens from a higher vantage point, she catches a flash of movement outside the abbey walls. In the dimming twilight, she's able to see the image of a large man accompanied by a huge dog. No, wait, it's not a dog. It's a wolf! She turns away, then quickly looks back. Both are gone, just that quickly. She must be seeing things. Besides, the friar is screaming for her. She has to go.

Sage wasn't seeing things. Thorbjorn and Rolf (in wolf form) had been standing outside the abbey walls, scouting for the mission to rescue the spaewives from the abbey. Thorbjorn was the strongest of the Berserkers on the mission, and the Alphas had put him in charge of the mission. When they both saw Sage, Rolf, with his superior lupine sense of smell, caught her scent. He immediately realized exactly who she was. Despite the overwhelming urge to climb the walls and take her with them, both Thorbjorn and Rolf both know they have a mission to accomplish. This is about rescuing the women from the abbey. Their own individual interests have to take a backseat to the mission.

As the entire Berserker force stealthily creeps up to the edge of the abbey, one of them is seen. A scream rings out from the orphans' dormitory, and suddenly there is chaos. Thorbjorn issues the order. Make sure the spaewives are safely removed from the abbey. Anyone who tries to prevent this must be eliminated. Then both Thorbjorn and Rolf (still in wolf form) go after Sage. They find her in the friar's office, behind locked doors. Rolf also scents evil, deep evil. Both Thorbjorn and Rolf know what that evil is. They don't hesitate. Thorbjorn's axe swiftly breaks through the heavy wooden door. Inside, the friar has just completed an evil summoning spell to bring his master, the monstrous evil the Berserkers are fighting against, to the abbey. And he's holding Sage hostage, a knife to her throat. It's a tense standoff. But while Sage seems small, fragile, unable to do anything to help herself, she's also very smart and wily. She assists in freeing herself from the friar, only to be snatched up by Rolf and taken from the room.

The pandemonium continues to worsen. The pack bond between the Berserkers lets them all know that the Grey Men and their master are on their way. There's no time to lose. The Berserkers take all the women and leave the abbey, scattering to avoid the Grey Men and attempting to return to the pack on the mountain where they all live. Thorbjorn and Rolf grab Sage and run. Sage is terrified. What do these two men, one of whom has the ability to change from a man to a wolf, want with her. In her eyes, she's trading one form of slavery for another, and she fights furiously. But how can a small, delicate young woman win a fight against two Berserkers determined to save her from herself?

The Grey Men are relentless in their pursuit of the various Berserkers, and their master complicates the escape of every single Berserker and the spaewives they've rescued, none more than Thorbjorn, Rolf, and Sage. The monstrous evil that is the master of the Grey Men will stop at nothing, nothing at all, to recapture the spaewives for his demented and insane purposes. And Sage is ill, becoming more and more sick with every passing hour. Now that Thorbjorn and Rolf have found Sage, she can't die. But what can they do? The Grey Men are everywhere, and the vicious evil guiding the Grey Men has cut through the pack bonds. They can no longer communicate with their fellow Berserkers or the Alphas of the pack. They have no medicine. They have no support. There's no shelter or refuge. What are they going to do? Can they save themselves. Their Beasts call out to them to turn and fight the Grey Men. But doing so will only put Sage's life in further jeopardy and frighten her beyond her already terrified state. How can they save themselves? How can they protect and heal Sage? They absolutely have to do both. There's no other alternative.

From here, the story takes all kinds of unexpected twists and turns. As Thorbjorn and Rolf fight in every way to save Sage, they make decisions they would never have even considered before. All three will face life-threatening challenges. Each of the three has deep issues that need to be confronted, faced, overcome. Is this even possible? There's deep emotional and psychic damage to each in their own way. Will they be able to heal Sage's physical ailments? Will any of them accept the healing of their minds, hearts, and very souls that's necessary for them to survive and find a way back to the pack? Is any of this within the realm of possibility?

Once again, Lee Savino has shown her ability to create a engaging, edge-of-your-seat story that is a thrilling, captivating, and engrossing novel. This latest in the Berserker Brides series is the result of Ms. Savino's unique writing ability. From the moment I started reading it, I was hooked. The complexity of the story, the alternate points of view from each of the characters, the development of the relationships, the unique circumstances facing each of the three protagonists, and how this novel continues this new series make for very compelling and enthralling reading. Lee Savino is an extremely talented author, and she has yet another success on her hands!

I would be remiss if I didn't make one final comment. This is an ADULT book. It contains very adult themes, explicit language, sexual scenes, violence, and paranormal/shapeshifter elements. If you don't enjoy erotic romance containing these elements, please carefully consider your purchase before buying this or any other book in either of these series. PLEASE DON'T BUY ANY BOOK IN A GENRE YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY AND THEN LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW OF THE BOOK AS IT'S SIMPLY NOT FAIR TO THE AUTHOR! She works hard to provide such wonderful stories, and if you know before you purchase any book that you'll object to the subject matter contained therein, you're not only doing yourself, but the author, an extreme disservice. But if you do enjoy spicy, erotic romance with paranormal/shapeshifter elements, I would definitely recommend the entire Berserker and Berserker Brides series.

Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!

*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.*

This book truly is a standalone novel; there is enough background given that you don't feel as if you're missing something having not read the previous books in the series. I always appreciate finding new authors and when I saw an opportunity to read an ARC copy of this book, I jumped at the chance as I'd never read Lee Savino's work before. Boy, have I been missing out! I love menage books and Lee does NOT disappoint with this one. Add in some paranormal werewolf shifters and it's a book I'm almost guaranteed to love. Love it I did!

Sage is an orphan living at an abbey run by nuns and an evil friar. She suffers unspeakable horrors (don't worry, it's not described in detail, simply hinted at) yet she is a kind and gentle soul. Don't mistake her compassion for weakness, though, she has a spine of steel when she needs to and has bravery and courage that'll rival any warrior's.

Thorbjorn is the leader of the band of warriors who overrun the abbey and he and his warrior brother, Rolf are searching for their mate, or spaewife as they're called in the book. This woman is one who if they find her, can tame their beasts and break them free of a curse. He's the more Dominant of the two, but he's also caring and loving; gentle when he needs to be, but only with Sage.

Rolf is the quieter of the two and spends more time in his wolf form. Having suffered more than his fair share of heartache, too, he's not as accepting of Sage as Thorbjorn is. Instead, he's close to giving up hope that anyone can save them, let alone her.

I appreciated that Ms. Savino didn't have the trio jumping into bed at the first opportunity. Both Sage and Rolf are hesitant to accept the bond that begins to form between them; rightfully so, and it is more than 50% into the book before the sex scene arrives. Hold on to something when it comes, though, because WHEW, it's a scorcher! There's nothing better than Dominant, alpha males who care about the woman they're with, and Thorbjorn and Rolf have this in spades!

The trio is not without trials on their journey and at times, I'll admit, I wondered if their HEA would arrive, or if they were doomed to suffer some more. Did it? Well, you'll have to read to find out. This is one book that I highly recommend and I fully intend to go back and read the series from the beginning, as well as Ms. Savino's other books. I didn't notice any errors, but I was so engrossed in the story and the world building, that if there were, I missed them. The book is THAT good! Pick it up! You won't regret it.

Sage is a Hero in her own Right – I’m so glad those Berserkers Kidnapped Her!!!

Sage would willingly take on beatings and worse punishment at the abbey to protect the other girls. When Berserkers Thornbjorn and Rolf kidnap her – they treat her with both care and discipline. Used to being abused, Sage has a hard time believing this Berserker pair could find her a desirable mate.

They find a place where time does not matter to allow her to heal:
“Make no mistake. We want everything you have to give. But not now. There is time, little one. For now, you will be as a babe for us to keep and care for This place is removed from our world. We have time to coddle you as a child, until you emerge a woman, reborn.”

Another heart-stopping episode in this fabulous series!!

Not my favorite

This is the 3rd installment in the Berserker Brides series. I didn't like this one as much as some of the others. Although the heroine was frail at first, and the heroes were trying to care for her, once she got better I thought it read like a Berserker version of a Daddy Dom story, which I'm not particularly fond of. Then there was the Berserker version of Shibari, which for some reason I just find funny. Not a bad installment, but not one I'd want to read again. I look forward to reading Laurel's story, as well as some of the others.

KIDNAPPED BY THE BERSERKERS is the latest installment in Lee Savino’s series and in it, we meet Sage, Thorbjorn, and Rolf. Each has their own demons to battle; although both Sage and Rolf seem to be evenly matched in terms of their past haunting them.

When we meet the trio, Thorbjorn is leading the raid on the Abbey to kidnap (coughs, rescue) all the spaewives the friar has been harboring. The two men immediately find their mate but she ends up requiring quite a bit of convincing for her to realize exactly what a treasure she is to them.

Unlike some of Savino’s other stories, this one is definitely on the angsty side. No thanks to Sage’s past, she has considerable trouble accepting that not only is she enough, she’s more than. Intentional or not, this became a strong theme in the story as both Thorbjorn and Rolf worked to show her exactly how much she was loved.

Likes: The angst. It fit Sage’s character well and while I wouldn’t expect to see this type of theme in a story like this, it worked out well. I loved how more of the backstories filtered through giving us more tidbits on everyone’s history. The sex scenes and all their interactions were downright toe curling (you might want to have a glass of wine or two, er three at the ready).

Overall, this is a series that has shaped up to be great fun and entertaining.

*This is the part where I confess to having an ARC because my patience wears thin when the author teases and I’m expected to wait until release day.

4 1/2 Stars! I just can't get enough of this series! Lee Savino continue to impress

4 1/2 Stars! I know there are some that can't understand why a modern woman would love this series so much when the are the antithesis of what most would allow today. They are 'He Men' with every controlling connotation of the phrase, but yet I still look forward to the next. Maybe it is because they cherish their found mate so much, and treat her like she is the finest glass, while still admiring the spirit and respecting power she possesses.

Regardless, it is fast becoming one of my favorites. I just wish they were longer so I could enjoy them more.

This story deals with Sage and for some this could be a potentially difficult read, because she was abused physically and mentally by the Friar. While it does not go into details, this is a romance story after all, it does hint that he beat her and forced her physically to pleasure himself. Sage does not believe she is worthy to be anyone's mate because she is dirty and unclean, but she has two mates that will do what is necessary to convince her, even if it may take a while.

Besides the abuse, their is adult language, erotic intimate scenes (although less than some of the initial stories, but still enough), violence including death, with a paranormal menage theme. If any of these situations are potential triggers, then this is not the book for you

The Berserker Brides series each begin with the same scene - the raid on the Abby by the Berserkers in order to rescue the Spaewives. Each story tells of the raid from a different perspective, the journey back to the pack and the story of the bonding between the warriors and their mate.

This Berserker Brides book centers on Rolf, Thorbjorn and their spaewife, Sage. Sage is different from the other wives because she was “favored” by the friar at the Abby. This is not attention that any woman would want, but Sage endured his abuse; mental, physical and sexual, because as long as his attentions were on her, he would leave her sisters alone.

She is rescued by 2 berserker warriors who want to claim her as their mate. However, she is in a weakened mental and physical state, due to her abuse, so they must tread very carefully not only to get her to safety, but also to heal her of her sickness. They are terrified that they have just found their mate only to lose her to sickness. They turn to the only one who can help them, a witch.

This was another good installment to this series. My heart broke for Sage and what she put up with at the Abby, and how she had to find her courage and self worth in order to see that she was truly wanted by these warriors, cherished and desired as a true mate.

Addicting and emotional

I am officially addicted to this series.
,
Save was raped and beaten by the friar? I think that looked after them. All the spaewives, from little girl, to teenagers, he called them sluts and whores. So horrible and sad.

But then Rolf and Thorjborn came and rescued her and killed her tormentor.

Her feeling of being dirty and unworthy, made her really sick. So .........They all lived in a small, magical cave until she was better, thanx to a witch.

They tended to her until she felt better. She got stronger and stronger.

First, she thought her survival depended on being good. She slowly realized they wanted her for her.

When they finally left the cave, she was overwhelmed by her feelings of unworthiness drove her to sacrifice herself for them to the Grey Men.

They were so sad and disappointed and sad. They eventually claimed her and she calmed the Beast inside. She finally realized that she was precious to them.

I thought it was super sweet how gentle they were with her.

My only question is, where's all the younger spaewives? Or the ones who became nuns? I hope we find out soon.

Sage is a young woman who has accepts her life at the abbey, sacrificing herself to protect the other young girls at the orphanage. One evening, a group of warriors storm their way inside and take the females claiming they are their mates and saving them from danger. Evil hunts them and they have to seek safety thus allowing the warriors who took Sage, Rolf and Thorbjorn, the time to try to and teach their new mate what love really means.

Kidnapped by the Berserkers is a book that can be read by itself, but I believe it best to read it with the series so you can understand fully what is happening. As the author has stated in the title name, it is a menage and does have some dark themes that some may have issue with. However, you will also find that the story is about love, redemption, acceptance and forgiveness. This book was my favorite of the series, so far, a great addition to the series and was not a cliffhanger. I was given this book as an ARC and I give my recommendation freely as a book that I, myself, will most likely read again!

Heroine is in an orphanage where she is regularly being sexually assaulted by the friar, but she feels trapped because at the same time if she leaves then another girl will just be assaulted in her place (most likely a younger child). So she stays and tries to make the friar happy-ish.

But then these crazy berserkers come out of nowhere and start taking the orphans. Heroine is afraid when 2 of them say they want her as a mate, because she assumes she will be basically a sex slave like she was for the friar. However they are nice and just want to pamper her. She doesn’t feel she deserves their love because she feels “impure” after the friar abused her. But they convince her otherwise and all are happy. The end.

Cute story with some steamier scenes but upset that the friar was not tortured. She is a victim but she also empathized with the friar and did not want him to be hurt even though he is a pedophile. Again she is a victim so no hate to her but it just pissed me off so three stars.

Love can heal any hurt

The third book in the Berserker Brides series. This is a ménage shifter storyline of Rolf, Thorbjorn, & Sage. Sage, like the other women saved by the Berserkers, is a Spaewife. A type of witch that is meant to sooth the beast stage of the Berserkers change. Sage thinks that because she allowed the friar to use and rape her to keep him away from the other girls. Rolf & Thorbjorn share a brother bond. Rolf needed to be save by Thorbjorn because the witch that changed him tormented him after the change. Rolf repays the favor to Thorbjorn during a battle and their brother bond developed. They need Sage to heal them and sooth their beasts. It’s a tale that will make you made and sad for Rolf and Sage. These three fight for and care for each other until they get their HEA. I like all the Berserker stories, this story is a dark romance with some very hot, sexy, & bdsm scenes. The story continues with the next Berserker Brides book.

Rolf and Thorbjorn had seen her when she stuck her head over the wall. Her name was Sage, although they didn't know it at the time. Just her smell and that smell told them she was their true mate. They would rescue her from the abbey.
Sage has been the Friar's favorite since Hazel left. When he's angry he takes it out on her and beat her, leaving her bruised or using her carnally calling her a whore. She has sacrificed herself to keep her sisters at the orphanage safe from his clutches. Now she thinks she is not pure and worthy enough for these warriors who need a mate to tame the beast.
What a heart wrenching story Sage, Rolf and Thorbjorn have gone through. Each with insecurities and fears that need to be healed. Lee Savino has captured their emotions so well it leaves the reader gasping for breath at time. Yet through it all, the love and passion abounds so strongly it leavesthe reader wanting to find their own Beserker.

Sage's story starts at the same time as Willow's, with the screaming and the attack on the abbey.
Sage is different from the other girls because she is the favorite of the monk. She puts up with his abuse because when his attention is on her, he leaves her sisters alone.

She finds herself in the kitchen with Laurel and a warrior - Thorbjorn - and his wolf - Rolf.
Sage, who has a beautiful heart, tries to negotiate with Thorbjorn to take her and leave the others alone.

Sage is treated very carefully by the two warriors, not only to get her to safety, but also to treat her illness. Now that they've found their mate, Rolf keeps his distance for fear of losing her, and Thorbjorn asks a witch for help.

Where has Ms. Savino been all of my life?!?! This is the first book I've read by this author, but that will soon be corrected.

The Berserkers storm the Abbey looking for spaewives as potential mate, but more importantly to save them from the Corpse King. Once Thorbjorn and Rolf scent one of the spaewives they knew she was their mate and chance at redemption. Sage has an orphan since she was born. The only home she knew was the Abbey and always took the brunt of the Friar's wrath to spare the younger girls especially his sexual advances. All they want to do is protect and cherish her but she doesn't feel worthy. She knew what to expect at the Abbey, so she is at a loss when it comes to Thorbjorn and Rolf and what their expectation of her.

They HAVE to have the spaewives to break the witch's curse. Rolf had a bad experience with the witch beside being turned into a monster, so he is weary of a witch wanting to help them and give Sage time recover. She feels she is unworthy and wants to do her share, but she still doesn't have her strength. Can her mates convince her that she is worthy of being their mate?

Kidnapped By The Berserkers by Lee Savino is a fairly short read, a great choice for paranormal fans. Just a warning though, this book does have menage sex scenes. Ms Savino has delivered a well-written book. I love, love, love the characters. Sage, Thorbjorn and Rolf's story is loaded with drama, action, suspense, humor and smokin' hot sex. Kidnapped By The Berserkers is a fun read, I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from Lee Savino in the future. I think I have read all of Ms Savino's Berserker books and this is my favorite so far. Kidnapped By The Berserkers is book 3 of the Berserker Brides Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete story, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Sage, Thorbjorn, and Rolf’s story is such an amazing story. I enjoyed the way these two strong berserkers cared for the much smaller Sage. I felt bad for Sage, such a sweet young woman. Always putting her self in danger for those she cared about whether the younger orphans at the Abbey or even her mates. The story keeps getting deeper as the books are published. Although each one is stand alone, I have read them in the order they were published. I love this series and Lee is wonderful storyteller. She captures my attention from the first page and holds it until I see "the end". Give this series a try, you won't be disappointed if you like triads, wolves, spea wives and Berserkers.

Lee Savino did an excellent job with Given To The Berserkers! Lee continues to build her world and characters, both seeming so real that the reader might think they know them in the real world.

Sage, along with all of the other potential spaewives, are kept away from the Berserkers who could be their Mates. When she meets her Mates, it is a fierce attraction on their end and a slow build on hers. Sage is strong and protective, I liked that!

I love that the Author took the time to build the story and characters. There was no rushing, but we all fall in love with one another. It was sad to see that book end and I simply cannot wait for the next read!

A well done shifter MFM suspense. I enjoyed the characters, the slow build and emotional connection. The author built a vibrant other-world. I was drawn in by the emotional damage of Rolf & Sage and how the bond between them and Thorbjorn heals them. Rolf and Throbkorn were an amazing mix of alpha & sweet. I really loved how they cared for Sage despite their bests and wolves needing to claim her. In the first part of the book when the orphanage is under attack I was a bit confused. It was chaotic and with several groups of players, I had trouble following what was happening. But that passed pretty quickly and I really enjoyed this book.

Love to get into each of these stories and learn about the Berserkers and their spaewife. I enjoy reading about their pasts and learning about their trials and tribulations in reaching this point. The process of their mate learning to trust her monsters and know that her safety and happiness is their main concern is amazing. Each Berserkers group comes to terms in different ways and with different angles. The story of Rolf, Sage and Thorbjorn is so interesting. The power of the Corpse King and his Grey Men is growing in strength, even the witches are in fear of them. Nope we see what happens when the Corpse King goes after a Berserkers mate.
Can not wait for the next book in this series.

I've just finished reading " by the berserk. How does Lee Savino write a better Berserker story each time. All of the stories contain a theme of unconditional love. Sage has no self esteem because of treatment at the hands of the Abby's friar and finds it difficult to believe her mates can love her. Do yourself a favor and read this book. Each book is a standalone story but there are themes throughout that meld the stories together. I am already looking forward to the next one. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

What a good addition to the Beserkers series. Thorbjorn and Rolf lead a rescue of spaewives from the Corpse King and choose Sage as their mate. Knowing the Beserkers saga leads to better story and character development, however this is a decent standalone book and Lee Savino has done a good job of explaining the series to new readers so you don't feel lost. With hot shifters, menage relationships and a fun little scene where the claiming was forced upon them, this is a great story and I am looking forward to the next one, Laurel's story looks like she is going to be FUN to tame!
