A charming guest at Liz Eckardt’s Olde Mansion Inn might not be all he seems on the surface. It's a scorching hot summer in Pleasant Creek, Indiana, and everyone's on edge, including Liz Eckardt and her quilting group, the Material Girls. So when charismatic Cyrus Whittington arrives in an antique car to stay at Liz's bed-and-breakfast, it's like a breath of cool, fresh air. Liz feels an immediate connection with the elderly eccentric. Like her, he came to Pleasant Creek searching for long-lost Amish relatives, and she sets out to help him find his family.

Suspiciously, a rash of break-ins at nearby Amish farms coincides with Cyrus’s appearance, and Liz can't help but wonder if he's hiding something. When she begins receiving threatening phone calls and menacing mail, she's steaming mad -- and ready to investigate. It will take the combined skills of Liz, the Material Girls, Mayor Jackson Cross, and of course English bulldog Beans to untangle the clues about their mysterious guest.

This clever whodunit from Annie’s Amish Inn Mysteries series is a must-read for fans of cozy mysteries, Amish life, and female friendships.

Grave Inheritance is another fun book in the Amish Inn Mystery Series. I enjoyed being back in Pleasant Creek, Indiana with Liz and her friends. As usual, there was a murder to solve, and Liz was compelled to try to find the killer. This book was a fast and easy one to read.

My grandma gave me this book, and she told me it was one she liked,so I felt like I had to read it for her sake.

The good : It's cozy, safe, fairly predictable , and the sort of book you can read in snippets and not miss much . There were moments that I thought perhaps a character was going to develop into something deeper, but , I was disappointed. A lot.

The bad:I literally began to feel sick to my stomach at the amount of cookies, cakes, pies, and other sugary desserts the characters baked or shared with one another. I sincerely wanted them to actually Stop eating, and began to skip entire paragraphs that went into detail about pie, or cake, or any other food item - because it was just too much for me to handle. I'm a massive foodie, I collect cookbooks and I love to feed people - so the fact that I'd reached my hard limit is saying something.

The author spent more time going into details about baked goods, or the way a room was decorated in the fictional inn than she did in creating background stories and descriptions of her characters. I don't really care what random rooms in the inn looked like . The fact that she spent so much time talking about this was tedious, and again, I began to skim paragraphs or skip passages once I knew the direction things were headed.

The characters were not deep .In some cases, I felt like they were cardboard cut outs used as props to move the last paragraph or two of a chapter along. In fact, the only character that has much zing is one of the quilters, a woman named Mary Ann.
Honestly, this book might have been better if it had come from the perspective of this character, because she had Life and Energy that every other character sorely lacked. I could imagine the perspective of retired elderly quilter from a small town who uses her sharp skills of observation to keep a watchful eye on her beloved community and I'd read that in a trice.

As i write this review, it has hit me that I can't even remember the name of the woman who has taken over the inn. You know, the main character I was supposed to care about ? I am drawing a complete blank.
Yet I can remember the name of the useless dog, Beans. That creature served little to no purpose, and if there is anything more annoying than a plot moppet, it is a dog or cat who is only there to nudge the plot along and not much else. I think Beans needed to see a vet, seriously.

I sincerely wish Ms Phillips could just write another series , from Mary Ann's perspective. She was sharp, she was witty, she had moxie, and she would have propelled a plot like a firecracker.

Grave Inheritance is a great mystery written by Rachael O Phillips in the Amish Inn Mystery series. The author has done an excellent job telling this story which involves a bit of humor along with intense drama. The characters are very likeable especially Cyrus Whittington who is a guest at Liz Eckardt's B&B. He brings a lot to the story thru his eccentric behavior. Liz and her friends the Material girls take an instant liking to Cyrus. He has a love for glass and China. Bringing with him a special tea service that his father made for his late sister the mystery ramps up. Why would someone bring a tea service with him and what is he really hiding? When this tea service is stolen and a lurking stranger comes to life can Liz and her friends untangle what's really going on?

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

This cozy Amish tale is a bit grittier than the others in the series. Several home burglaries and break-ins in the Amish community have everyone on edge. Some suspicious people are seen around town or may even be staying at the inn. Liz tries to add up all the clues, but has some difficulty deciding who can be trusted. She and her friends are headed for danger, but that never stops Liz. It’s an interesting mystery, filled with some great characters and some very bad ones.

This series doesn't disappoint me! And I love how inspired I get to bake from Liz's recipes for the inn.

Some of my favorite lines:

Liz has some interesting guests at the Inn. One is looking for long lost family and the sisters are just plain annoying!
