Somehow got ahold of this pdf during my exploration of LessWrong related content. Oh yeah, it was here.
Right off the bat, it said that it should be used like a reference manual, secondary to the actual workshops, and not a stand-alone material. It wasn't designed to be that sort of guide. Well, I was curious, so I went along with it despite the warnings.
In the end, it's just a set/list of rationality techniques in order to improve one's life. General good life advice too, actually.
It contains interesting and new ideas with clear explanation, basically everything that I need. The only catch is that, just by reading it, the knowledge will stay in theory. If I really want to see some results, I need to actively put those into practice. It's easy to nod along these wonderful gold nuggets and be satisfied with that. I guess that's why the practical aspect of the workshop is so important. And it would also help a lot to make the concepts stick to one's core.
It is perhaps the most pragmatic piece of text I've ever read. It is the closest book I found so far to being a well rounded "how to live well as a human being given all psychological biases" manual.
