Now you can get the beloved Healing Ruby series in one complete collection. This four-book set contains each of the novels in the Healing Ruby series, which has captured readers hearts. Again and again, readers say they just cannot put it down.
The Healing Ruby series traces the young lives of Ruby Graves and Matthew Doyle as they grow through the years of the Great Depression and World War II. Together they face illness, heartbreak, loss, and triumph with imperfect faith. But through it all, God shows His unconditional love and faithfulness to those who trust in Him.
Jennifer Westall loves writing Christian fiction as a way of exploring her own faith journey. Saving Grace (2016) is the third installment in the Healing Ruby series, the first of which was inspired by events in the life of her grandmother and explores the mysteries of faith healing. She's also the author of Love's Providence (2012), a contemporary Christian romance novel that navigates the minefield of dating and temptation. She resides in northern Virginia with her husband and two boys, where she homeschools by day and writes by night, thus explaining those pesky bags under her eyes. Readers can connect with her at jenniferhwestall.com or find her on Facebook and Twitter.
My husband had told me about an audio book that he thought I’d like for just over a year. I prefer non-fiction books that help me grow in my faith, so I kept putting it off. Although, I finally decided to check out the first book one holiday weekend while we were traveling and...
I.WAS.HOOKED!
I finished the remaining 3 books over that weekend and it was an emotional roller coaster. Being a military spouse, it having been Memorial Day weekend (you know, the holiday we have to honor those who died serving 😭) - and a host of other things, I was consumed.
My brain was delighted and tired. Books are amazing at sweeping you away into a different reality and are more invigorating than any movie could ever be. I seriously couldn’t put these down.
I don’t know what kind of books you like, this certainly wasn’t my usual preference, but if you’re curious, check out this series. So good!!
❤️
(PS - this series still challenged and grew my faith. I’ve meditated on many scriptures recently as a result)
Jennifer Westall has written from the perspective of her two main characters, Ruby Grace and Matthew. Ruby is an independent woman surrendered to the Lord. She fights injustice by sacrificing herself. At several points she is able to use her supernatural gift for healing. This entire series tells of her love for Matthew, her healing through God`s power Matthew as he battled tuberculosis. Years later they meet again, her as a nurse, him as a soldier during WWII on Bataan and Correigidor. All of her history over her and his years of youth to a life together show how God can be trusted to redeem good from evil. The stories show that difficulties come and one has to be tested to learn to trust more. God is to be praised in her writings. This is a beautiful saga.
Finding yourself and learning yourself and knowing who you are in God as you go through tough times brings us to our knees as Matthew and Ruby's trials did. Being in the thick of war makes a different person out of a man or woman as Jennifer shows us in her book. Jennifer will have your heart racing as you read all the ups and downs because you don't know what's going to happen next. I recommend this book to anyone that loves a good historical, romantic, captivating and heart racing novel. Matter of fact please start with Healing Ruby you won't be sorry. I bought the whole series together to get this last book even though I have already wrote reviews for the other individual books because I got one free (I think) and one I might have got from the author.
It was such a wonderful story that shared pain and hope and a love of God that shines above all else. I cried and laughed through the unfolding of the tragedies and joyful submissions of each of these beautiful characters. I have been touched and changed by Gods grace. ☺
This author brings you into the storyline so you can see, feel and be part of Ruby or Matthew as they are going through their personal hell. I don't think I have been through so many different emotions as I have reading this series. Sorry to see it end. Would definitely watch it if it was a mini series.
Deeply moving and unsettling view of the Philippines during WW II. Incredible courage, bravery and faith. The courage and unwavering selflessness of the nurses and doctors in unbelievably terrifying situations along with the men who sacrificed all, very moving.
This book series really draws you in. You don't want to put them down till you have read them all. Matthew and Ruby are relatable characters. So many faith lessons intertwined in the story. Loved this series so much! It will definitely be a series I reread for years to come!
