Basically this is a collection of very short prequels introducing larger series (there are 10 stories included here, with the grand total being 190 pages, so you can imagine how short they all are). Most of them I ended up skimming and skipping over. Though there were a couple that did entice me toward the larger series (though oddly, the two that did were the two that I actually already have book one of on my Kindle- specifically The Kingdom series by Megan Linski and Curse of the Sphinx by Raye Wagner). But the rest of them either bored me or the epic worlds were too weighed down in detail, or there was even one that felt like the author had taken all the cliched elements that go into a teen paranormal romance and then just mixed it together.
My overall rating is 3 and half stars it wasn't good as the previous one's I've read but not as bad either.
1. Golden Blood by Ali Winter 🌟🌟🌟 This was a interesting take on a combination on Vampires & Dragons. Alison is a Draynir but she doesn't know until she has a accident and some people rescues her. This wasn't good or bad.
2. Visions Among Frost by Alicia Rades 🌟🌟🌟 This story had me curious but I don't know how I feel about it yet need to read the Author's other books to see how I feel.
3. Enliven by Alisha Klapheke 🌟🌟🌟 This is a prequel to the Edinburgh Series. Aini is a Sixth Seer something that's forbidden in Edinburgh but there isn't enough information to know I feel about this one I need to read the first book.
4. The Forbidden Cure By Constance Roberts 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Traya is a assistance to the local healer when a mysterious illness are spreading in her small town. She comes up with a cure which she sees through her visions. I really liked this short story and e character Traya.
5. Time of The TakeOver by Megan Linski 🌟🌟🌟 A Journal like story of a young boy during a invasion into their town. It's not clear what or you invaded their town but sometimes the story was good and sometimes I wished it would end.
6. The Origin of Ashana by Raye Wagner 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Right from the start the story kept me engaged although tragic at the end I want to know more about Zahid journey.
7. Mark of Ruins by S.D.Grimm 🌟🌟🌟🌟 This story was unexpectedly good a changeling & her gaurdian meet and Olivia finds out she was switched at birth. I can't wait to continue their journey.
8. The Wraith of Light by Lena Hillbrand 🌟🌟🌟 Married couple a Demigod & a Sphinx are hiding away from Apollo although the wife Left doesn't know his a God. When she tells him her secret he goes to his father Apollo to leave but instead he kills him. This was not bad but not good either.
9. Embrace by T.Ariyanna 🌟🌟🌟 Crystal and her friends are shifters and demon hunters I think and she the Chosen One to stop evil from coming to earth. This one had me confused because a lot happened at once.
10.The Fortuneteller's Fate by Stacey Rourke 🌟🌟🌟🌟 This story was so mysterious it had me wanting to read about the two mages Theresa & Jeminna I really want to know how their journey continues.
This was an absolutely wonderful collection of short stories. Some of these authors were ones I had read before, but with the few I hadn't, it made me want to read their works.
Even with the few excerpts, I could connect with the characters. They were fleshed out and easy to like. (Or dislike for a couple). Each novella had an intriguing plot that showcased each authors talents. I cannot wait to read more.
Disclaimer: I received an ARC from Gryfyn Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
As far as what is present there are several stories I liked quite a bit. Unfortunately there are too many abrupt blank spots and the stories and therefore the book.
After the Creatures of the World series I felt like this was a let down....kinda disappointing. I wish the stories has been better and I don't see what any of the stories have to do with Lore.
1.Golden Blood 2.Visions Among Frost 3.Enliven 4.The Forbidden Cure 5.Time of the Takeover 6.The Origin of Ashana 7.Mark of Ruins 8.The Wrath of Light 9.Embrace 10.The Fortune Teller’s Fate
A fast read but I enjoyed all of the stories I will be checking out some of the other books soon
*The review will be updated as I read on* *Golden Blood* A short but really elaborate tale picturing a twist in the life of Ashley. She was driving in a storm for a job interview, but nearly died in an accident and was saved by three strangers. To save her life, she must let go of the known and embrace the supernatural, but the choice is really hard. Despite the short length, I truly appreciate the execution of the story. Brilliantly written, full of emotions and surprising twists, lined with mystery and suspense, all wrapped up in supernatural world. Even the sparks of romance provide an edge to the story. Very nice opening story that provides motivation to read the rest of the collection.
