These are the typical plots in harlequin land. It’s so bad and so good at the same time. The story follows the step siblings who have to come together for a will. Heroine’s mother married into the family of hero. Hero and heroine have to marry according to the will. There was so much misunderstanding and working through, it was angsty especially with the heroine’s little girl involved as well. It concludes quite nicely at the end of it all.
Read this for: Strong heroine Single parent hero Hard hearted hero who gets his heart thawed Heroine helps with parenting his child Heroine and hero clear up misunderstandings Hero underestimates heroine Concludes quite well Art style is really nice
Hahahaha the hero is annoying, but the comments I read are hilarious. The FL should just prove to him that she is what he said by stealing the money from him! Lol. Instead, after insulting her and her mother, she still chose the ML! Ugh. The ML is a jerk throughout the story. No wonder they (ML and his cousin) are family
Gabriella fell in love with her stepbrother, Rufus, on the day her mother remarried. However, her love for him was shot down by Rufus’s words: “Don’t try to seduce me for my money.” Since then, hatred has flared between the two. Five years later, Gabriella’s stepfather has passed away, leaving behind a strange will. Gabriella and Rufus are to live together for six months as husband and wife in order to inherit the fortune! Gabriella will live with a man who accuses women of being money-grubbing mares?
My Thoughts:
This is a Harlequin romance adapted into a manga. I didn't realize that this had been done often, but it seems there are actually quite a few of these. I likely never would have noticed if not for the Amazon store. It was a quick read and not particularly original, but I found it very easy to read and ended up really enjoying it.
Rufus is a dick in the beginning of the story. I understood why he was like that, but I wanted to smack him around a bit, anyway. I liked Gabriella right away. She wasn't a doormat no matter how rude Rufus was to her and she was excellent with his daughter Holly. She was a strong female character and I was glad that she got her happiness in the end. I was happy she didn't give in to Rufus until he groveled a bit after treating her so badly. Everything worked out in the end and I was left smiling in the end.
