Sweet and emotional….
This is a collection of four stories – novellas and full-length – that tell the beautiful courtship of Asher and Porter. Porter was born into a hockey family and love and support abounded. There was a lot of responsibility and pressure, too, and he had to find his own way. As long as that was the same as Asher. Asher’s experiences were much different and pain and loneliness were part of her history. With each carrying their own baggage, finding common ground was going to take time and a lot of hard work…
If you are looking for characters to bond with, to feel their pain, angst and happiness, then this read fits the bill. So many ups and downs. So many relatable situations with family. There were surprises and bumps and through it all a lot of growth and building of something special.
The Prescott family is large and there are other stories already written and to come – I need to re/acquaint myself with all of them! ~Diane, 5 stars

I thought this book was going to be somewhat predictable since I had read the novellas on Porter and Ashe. Color me WRONG. This story feels like such an accurate portrayal but still is creative and unique in its telling. You get plenty of fan yourself moments between Porter and Ashe (yeah). STEAMY (wink wink). Though what impressed me most is that Porter is dedicated to Ashe. As a professional athlete, being a man-whore is a frequent depiction. That is not the case here. Porter only has eyes for Ashe and is my definition of a good guy. Ashe (I need to pause). Let me tell you what I love about her. If you look up the word survivor, you would see her. OMG this girl is amazing and she touched my heart. She also felt realistic in her responses to what life has thrown at her. If you are looking for a beautiful story that takes you on a ride of emotions then this is the read for you. I definitely recommend and Happy Reading!!!

Wow this was amazing. This is the first time reading a book by this author and I'm sad about that. She is a phenomenal writer. I really enjoyed reading this. It's so easy to fall in love with Asher and Porter. I've never read their story before so this was a great start. I couldn't put this book down once I started. I will definitely be reading more from Mignon.

Asher was in foster care since birth. Had a really crappy life with some troubling times. She finally gets out and is on the way to a better life when she meets Porter. He instantly has a connection with Asher but she has secrets from her past that are keeping her from trusting Porter completely. Can she heal with Porter's love and get a HEA? Loved this duet.

Wow, just wow!! So much emotion and I almost didn't know how to handle it! Right from the start I knew Porter and Asher were going to take me on a ride. That ride was crazy, emotional, sweet, heart-wrenching and heart-warming. I was beyond amazed with this story. I loved every single bit of this!!

I was given an ARC for my honest review. I have to say I was not disappointed! While the length of 4 books was a lot to read all at once, it was so worth it. I will not recap or give any spoilers, since I think it’s completely unnecessary. The character development was amazing. The author made the entire story feel real. It had such a range of emotions throughout. I first read “Interference” a year or so ago, and I really loved it! So, when I saw the opportunity to read an ARC I was super excited! Thank you for writing! I look forward to more from you!

There is something so devastatingly profound yet enlightening, about a heroine that has seen the worst of humanity, experienced far too much pain, confusion and loneliness for a quiet and lost teenager; yet somehow she still manages to come through the other side, a stronger person, intelligent, kind, loyal and loving. That is precisely the kind of female protagonist we get in the shape of Asher Spence, a shy, tattoed, pierced enigma that falls into hockey star-in-the-making Porter Prescott's, life.
Playmaker Duet delves into the intertwining lives of Porter Prescott and Asher Spencer. It goes from their formative teenage years and the contrasting lives that they each led then, through to those pinnacle moments in time, where their feelings and actions towards one another where tentative- more than friendship but yet undefinable. It also steers the reader through all of the hardships this beautiful couple face, the devastating secrets, the falling irrevocably in love, overcoming obstacles, agonising sorrow and the trials and tribulations that come along with loving someone, even when they can't love themselves.
Where Asher is skittish and unsure most of the time, Porter is her strong, sturdy handsome touchstone. There is a darker side to Asher's story and although uncomfortable to read, it made me appreciate her character so much more. She gutted me in a way no other heroine has ever done before. I felt so protective towards her, maternal even, just wanting to see her achieve her happily ever after. She perceives herself in the most heartbreaking way imaginable so reading those moments where Porter makes her laugh or smile seemed to hold more weight behind it, than your average romance.
'Every pent-up emotion from the last two months, from the last four years, exploded in my body. My blood ran too fast. My heart pounded too hard. And my eyes filled with too many tears.
With a shaking hand, I pointed at myself and even though I couldn't see him through the haze of tears, I told him in broken words, "Because I'm ******* disgusting."'
Absolutely. Heartrending. But the best books often are. They make you feel, whether it's sadness or happiness or anger or annoyance, and this collection will certainly make you feel everything.
But where there is pain there is also beauty to be found, and in this instance it is watching how Porter's love and his family's love brings Asher back to life. To a place where she is loved, wanted and adored for who she is. In particular it's watching Porter fall helplessly in love with Asher that makes this collection so incredibly beautiful. How they interact, the dialogue and his loyalty and need to take things slow with her. He is such a perfect hero. He's sexy, loyal, attentive and willing to fight for who he loves and for his career in ice hockey too. Independently we have been given two magnificent characters that shine out with their own individual merits, but together they are an unstoppable and dynamic couple with an explosive sexual tension to match the emotional side.
I loved that Porter and Asher's story was told over several years, rather than the usual months-long romance, that tends to unfold in love stories, as we get the good, the bad and the sexy, spanning over a realistic time frame. Author Mignon Mykel is an extraordinary writer and I don't use that term lightly. She manages to take some very dark and difficult subjects and handle them with sensitivity and a dose of realism, not only regarding the time frame but also the repercussions and emotions that spring from those events and how others deal with the fall out of the revelations.
This collection is a terrific blend of tragedy and pain, romance and love, wonderfully naughty sex scenes and great dialogue. We're given a tremendous story, with two beautiful lead characters as well as an array of side players that bring a touch of comedy and familial love. Playmaker Duet is definitely one of my best reads of the year.

This box set has the entire and complete story of Asher and Porter. What a huge roller coaster of emotions this story brings you on, just when you think all is perfect, life throws another curve ball. The story gets messy, some problems are brought upon themselves but that is how life is. Imperfect, and our characters reflect this so well. The issue with true love, however, is that it can persevere. A great read, and with the inclusion of both prequels, this box set does a perfect job of telling the entire story from start to finish. I can't wait to see these two make appearances in future books!

I absolutely that these books take you on a journey. You get feel like you are part of the Prescott family, you watch two young troubled characters grow into amazing, loving adults. If you need a "comeback" kid type of read than Asher & Porter are definitely what you are looking for. I love all the highes and lows I experinced in this read. If you need an amazing read to bring all your emotions to life, you NEED to these books!

What an emotional ride!
Porter and Asher are seriously my FAVORITE couple❤️❤️❤️ Reading this complete set has me in all my feels. You definitely MUST read Breakaway to really truly get the feel of Asher’s background....that girl is seriously my HERO!!! Love her something fierce. Porter is the Prince that every girl dreams about. His actions will have you in all your feels. Be prepared for the BEST duet I have EVER read!!!

My heart.......
This book, took my breath away. I had to put it down and come back to it a couple of days later, it was that emotional.
These two went through so much. But, to see them grow throughout the years was magical. That's one thing I loved about this duet, it was detailed throughout and so touching. The way Mignon was able to write this so beautifully was applauding.
I certainly look forward to seeing more of these two in future writes.

Overall, I thought that this was very well written and overall a sweet, hope-filled story (although definitely with dark moments). I thought there were too many extraneous scenes. Too much that did not add anything to the story and really had no purpose. I like that it spanned many years, but a lot could have been cut out.

This series was a great series. So much happened in this story that will make you feel so much and wonder how someone can get past what happens to them but Porter showed Asher that you can overcome. So much love.

Have her sexually abused by her foster father

Have to overcome said trauma

Have said foster father reappear later in her life to kidnap and r*pe her again

Please give this sweet couple a break already!

I read this the first and second times years ago and just loved the story. It's one of the few that have really stuck with me. Butterfly Save is coming out soon and I'm doing a reread of as much Prescotts as I can squeeze in. I can yell you I loved porter and asher just as much today for the 3rd read as I did back the first time.
