A boy and a girl can become friends.
But can they remain friends forever?

When Anshuman Kale first meets Indira Kelkar, all it takes to bring them close is a lost school bag, a missed school bus leading to a walk back home, and a few cutlets to beat the after-school hunger. As the now best friends grow up together, there is nothing that can come between their friendship. Or so they think!

At the climax of their teenage years, as Indira falls in love with a guy five years older, she finds herself caught between friendship and love—neither of which she can let go. But as their lives begin to take a turn—for good, for bad, and for the worse—Anshuman is forced to rethink one of the things he had considered a given: ‘he and Indira would be best of friends forever.’

Now estranged for years, Anshuman is looking forward to marrying the love of his life, while Indira is waiting to hear back on her euthanasia appeal.

What could have gone so wrong that she wants to end her life?

As their lives intersect once again, how far will Anshuman go for Indira?

There are books that elaborate the complicated relationship between a boy and a girl. Some turn into romances, some into heartbreaks. And then there are a few books that dwell only on the friendship part of it and not only do they do justice, but also glorify the relationship. This is one such book that, by no means, is a standard boy-meets-girl story.

Let Me Go by Shriram Iyer begins with Anshuman (or Anshu) all set to marry Alisha (or Allie). A well settled businessman in Australia now, Anshu couldn’t be happier but when he comes to know that his childhood friend , Indira (or Indu), is awaiting the Supreme Court’s verdict on her plea for euthanasia, all peace of mind is shattered. He leaves for India immediately without giving any explanation to Allie. Allie, wanting answers, follows him but what she finds there, is shocking. Who Indu is and why she means so much to Anshu, is what makes the rest of the story.

Firstly, I would like to thank Fingerprint! Publishing for sending me a copy of the book! Now, coming to the book itself. A quote behind the book says “A boy and girl can become friends. But can they stay friends forever?”. But make no mistake, this isn’t your regular childhood-friends-turn-sweethearts kinda story. I was pulled into it the moment I began and have gone way past my bedtime hours for this one! It was just so absorbing!

The story is unique. It is not about romance, not even about a regular friendship. It is about, as the author puts it – a natural by-product of humanity. With an interesting story line and a captivating narrative, Let Me Go is definitely one of the best reads so far this year.

If you are looking for something heart warming and genuine, I would highly recommend this book.

Book Blurbs are supposed to give you a glimpse into what a book has to offer. It often helps bookworms decide whether they would like to pick up the book or not. In some cases, a book is so much more than its blurb and this is one such book… The blurb definitely doesn’t do it justice. I say this because when I read the blurb, I thought this would be another typical love story where two friends do not realize they are in love with each other till it is too late. But no, that is not what this book is about.

The story starts with Anshuman, well set in his life, looking forward to marrying Alisha, the ‘love of his life’. He is ready to start a new chapter in his life, when past comes calling. Indira, a girl he thought he would be friends for life with, is waiting to hear back on her euthanasia appeal. Dropping everything, Anshuman decides to return to India and to his friend. Alisha, who is taken aback by his sudden decision, follows him to try and discover what he is up to and walked straight into his past.

Ultimate. Amazing Read.

Few words for this amazing novel. Initially it was slow and quite hard to connect but with more pages turned, it become more closer to the mind that it demanded to read it more and fast.

Its a simple story of Boy & Girl, where after finishing of their teenage, Girl start to complicate things not for herself but for her best friend ever. And on other hand that friend start to bear the loads even after concerning the future he would have got later. Deep bond of friendship depicted with nice collection of different events of their lives.
Things mentioned of the time, story cast in, like of 90's with all the cartoons and famous TV figures, were right at there place and reminds me of the time I lived at that time in my real life.

Family names chosen of protagonists could have been better though different. Family touch to the story was good and limited keeping the things in control and enjoyable.

Its sort of self-help book for young-adults as well, if I might consider the things about life for what to do and what not to do while in teenage, relevant to the character of Female protagonist.

Enjoyed the book and got emotional in last. Touché.

For me its: 4.0/5.0

We have always been hearing the same phrase of “A girl and a boy can never be friends” but this book tries to oppose this phrase and builds a story of “friendship…with love” as the subtitle reads.

I have been reading a lot of romance novels from the past few months and most of the time I would come across the same plot over and over again with just a few touch-ups to make the stories look different. So, I am going to be honest here, I was delaying reading this book because I had already judged that it would have the same sort of nondescript plotline. But, I was in for a surprise when I finally settled on to reading this book.

I won’t say that the story is completely original and very unique from other romance novels but I can surely say that it is different from other romance novels out there which had been selling like hot cakes. From the blurb of the book, I was convinced that ‘Let Me Go’ was going to be another “from friends to lovers” story but when I actually read it, I found that’s not the book is all about. The title, ‘Let Me Go’ might be a bit cheesy and must have been used a lot of times already but don’t let the title fool you!

The plot is a combination of suspense, a bit of mystery and romance, of course. While reading, the first chapters built the anticipation in me because it had been shown that something was wrong from the character’s agitation but there’s no clue to answer the “what”. It’s only later on, as the story unfolds, does everything become clear. The cover of the book might be simple, but the story is nothing close to simple.

The book is divided based on years. While the story starts in the present time, the author reels back in time and takes us to the times when Anshu and Indira were together and shows us what sparked their friendship. There’s quite a lot of scene shifts from present to past to present, but the author has managed all the timelines very effectively. Unlike other books where I have come across this same characteristic, the author has smoothly led the timelines and they never felt abrupt or incomplete.

The narration is smooth throughout the book and as I have already said, the characters are well-developed. The author has definitely worked on the characters to showcase each and every of their emotions. Definitely a character driven plot.

“Let me go” is a combination of friendship, hardships, love, bitter truth and reality. The book has strong connection to reality and set a perfect example of true friendship. All the characters have strong personalities. I get amused by Indira Kelkar, the female protagonist of the book. Sometimes her character made me angry and sometimes made me sympathized towards her. You need a strong coffee and a Sunday afternoon to read this novel.

Shriram is a promising author. He has done well beyond my expectation level. He has put the emotions through words correctly; he neither exaggerates things nor rushes the things.

This book is highly recommended to all Indian writing fans, those have soft corner for melodrama. I will give the book 4 out of 5 stars for the authors writing style and simple yet strong story-line.

Loved it

I am really not biased, I honestly want to tell you that the book is brilliant. It started beautifully and moved effortlessly through time, story and characters.
Friendship, love and soul.. the story has it all in a balance.
Every time a new character spoke as a first person... I could put myself in that person’s shoes and feel myself doing what he/ she was. That is how impeccable the character description is.... and I found myself as an outsider observing the interaction, getting angry, sad and even frustrated with what was happening.. that is how involved I could get.
I found myself remembering my friends... all of them, how they have been there... how they may have moved on, how I have behaved with them at times... the chemistry and memories... that is how emotional I became.
The ending , was a perfect closure to the story. It left me with a smile....

am happy someone wrote , perhaps a little cliched but still a story that so much is believable and close to truth. This is a story of messed up priorities , reckless loving and living. It talks of dreams and how we get detailed from achieving that but friends can still help. This is a well plotted and inspiring story.

Let me go! – novel written by Shriram Iyer. I have read it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Few things to point out about “Let me go”- its an absolute easy read, it has a beautiful story line which brings out the essence of what true friendship is all about. Loved how the novel pointed out the theme of loyalty in friendship and i am sure all of us would relate to it in someway or the other. And the most important part was the last chapter where Hope the key element made this novel worth the read. The characters were strong, unique and yet so perfect and true to themselves in this novel. Can’t wait to get the hard copy and read it all over again.
Highly recommend it and do get your hands on this novel. Im sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

I enjoyed this book so much it kept me turning the pages - on a digital version, when usually I hate reading on a screen!!!! The book was unexpected and had elements of everything in it - so good for readers who enjoy all kinds of genres! I particularly enjoyed the insight into society and the difficulties some people face - very realistically written, making me empathise and feel closer to the characters. Highly recommended.

At the first glance, I felt that it is a love story but it is actually more than just a love story. The blurb of this book is quite impressing making me pick this book as my next read.

Plot summary:

Anshuman Kale aka Anshu has always been an introvert and studious boy. After shifting to a new place, he meets Indira Kelkar aka Indu, who is his landlord’s daughter. Contrary to him, Indu is a tomboy who loves to live a carefree life.

Indu never gives any attention to Anshu but one day a missed school bag creates an opportunity for their friendship. Despite having different tastes, they become good friends and their families too.

With each passing day, their friendship becomes stronger but one day a boy comes into the life of teenager Indu. He is 5 years elder to her and Anshu feels a bad aura around him. Indu madly loves him. Anshu tries to talk about this to Indu but she is not ready to hear a single word against her love.

Things move on, and everybody becomes busy in their life. Then an event happens which separates Anshu and Indu.

After many years, Anshu is a successful businessman in Melbourne. And he is about to get married to the love of his life, Alisha. The wedding date is approaching and at the same time, he gets a call from his old friend.

What his friend tells him makes Anshu take the next available flight to Mumbai. Once a carefree, vivacious and pretty girl, Indu is now waiting to hear her euthanasia appeal.

Now Anshu has only one goal in his life to avert the decision of Indu. Will he be successful? What happened to Indu? Will all these go to affect his love life? Can Indu gain her confidence again?

Read this heart-touching book, to know how the true friendship never dies.

Writing style:

From the beginning, the author has kept an easy language. The narration is totally captivating which helps you finish this book in two to three sittings.

My perception:

This book has every element which a reader wants. With the beautiful childhood bonding to separation and finally the reunion, the author has done a wonderful job. The characters are well developed and the story moves perfectly. This book teaches how beautiful friendship is and how a true friendship can bring one out of death. The backdrop is relatable and the author has narrated it beautifully. The story goes on depicting the friendship, bonding, relation, love, trust and finally sacrifices. This book is a great leisure-time read and I totally recommend it!

There are plenty of books upon love and friendships in the Indian market but very few are able to generate emotions among readers. I am just done reading another book based on the same genre written by Shriram Iyer named “Let Me Go”. The book also has the tagline which says “To Friendship… With Love”. By the title, I had termed this book as another cheesy stuff by an Indian author but after completing the same, I am surprised by the fact that this is one of the best books I have read which is purely based on the concept of deep friendship along with a backdrop of a love story.

Shriram Iyer’s writing style is very intriguing which involves the reader and enables him/her to concentrate on the story without getting distracted with uselessly added difficult words or over-exaggeration of not-so-important events in the book. The author keeps the focus on the bas story itself and gives the backdrop of each instance in such a perfect manner that you won’t feel that you have joined the story through this book but feel as if you were already a part of the story. The characterization is very nicely done where each character is given undue importance which makes you understand each one of them completely.

The way different timeline of 2-3 decades is presented tells how skilful the author is. The way book provides twists and turns and also manages to sustain small suspenses keep the interest of the reader and makes this book a perfect page-turner. The climax is also very nicely handled and justifies the long story perfectly. Talking about the drawbacks of the book, I would say that the story is quite predictable at times and thus, makes the whole purpose of those long chapters null. But overall, talking about the book, do read it for the emotions that it displays through words and scenes that can take you in the world of imaginations and empathy. I give this book 4 star out of 5.

Thanks.

Shriram Iyer's beautiful book is a story about friendship and determination. It is a wonderful reminder to be grateful for those who surround us with their love, laughter and support. Those who cheer us on in good times and hug us tightly in tough ones. Those who never give up on us even when we're so close to giving up on ourselves... A must-read!

This book tells the tale of a young fiesty girl Indira and his childhood friend Anshuman. The Story beautifully describes the importance of trust and loyalty in all relations. Be it friends, parents, fiancee or lovers. The character of Indira is so infectious that sometimes you'll love her, sometimes you'll hate her. You will smile with her and get disappointed with her. The flow of story between past and present is comfortable and language is very good.

Shriram Iyer's new book is about a relationship between two friends. Belonging to opposite gender, it tries to breakaway the taboo, the society has been implementing for many years. Does the book succeed in covering the theme? You will have to read this review to find out.

Anshuman Kale and Indira Kelkar are friends. All it takes to bring them close is a lost school bag, a missed school bus leading to a walk back home, and a few cutlets to beat the after-school hunger. As the now best friends grow up together, there is nothing that can come between their friendship. Or so they think!

Estranged for years, Anshuman, well settled in Australia is looking forward to marrying the love of his life while Indira is waiting to hear back on her euthanasia appeal. A glimpse of their past makes Anshuman to drop everything and return to her friend Indira. Will Anshuman's soon to be bride accept the relationship? Why Indira appealed for euthanasia?

The plot is constructed in a manner that it brings the best of the characters. It moves forward with an equal amount of past story of both the main characters. The book is not a traditional romance fiction. It is a story about friendship with complexity that is possessed in the mind of an individual. The theme is unique and is touched by displaying the mixture of emotions and brave acts.

There is enough peek into what characters are if one reads the blurb of the book. It only develops further on reading the book. As I dwelled on it by turning pages, I adored the characterization. The writing style is good and authentic.

I recommend this book if you are looking to read something distinctive with a bit heart warmness.

"Let Me Go: To friendship with love" by Shriram Iyer is a tale packed with full of emotions. It's a story of two friends Ayush and Indu. "Can a boy and girl can't remain friends?" is always a question which has different answers. Before you get other thoughts, it's not that they got attracted to each other or something, it's quite different situation all together. All the wrong decisions made by Indu, had became obstacles in their friendship and made her life scattered. When Ayush started a new life leaving behind all bitter memories, through a friend he got to know about Indu and after knowing what she is going through Ayush wasn't able to hold himself from going to her.
What happened to Indu? Will there friendship remains the same after all the troubles? Will ayush help Indu to fight back her problems? To know more about the journey of friendship between Ayush and Indu, give it a read friends. I'm completely in love with this book. There is something about this book which I'm not able to put into words and all I have to say about this book is "Loved it".

When I first read Shriram Iyer's Wings of Silence, I knew I would be waiting for his second. And he DOES NOT disappoint! Let me Go, his second, is a beautiful saga of both a selfish at one end-selfless at another friendship that exists between two kids, right from childhood until all the way later, through different challenges, relationships and more! New characters enter, some old ones leave, the circle of life goes on but not once does he waver from the central theme of the book - friendship! Chucking the typical Indie 'rom-com' books as they're being slated to be, as I sample more and more books by new age Indian authors, this comes as one huge refreshing read. Pick it up! It won't let you go!

This is an incredibly powerful story because it is so realistic and therefore sometimes hard to believe that it is fully fictional. The turbulent journey of a young woman who is torn between childhood and adulthood is so well described, that I feel as if I knew Indira and watched her grow. Indira evolves from a happy-go-lucky fiesty girl into a dangerously rebellious avatar that even she is unable to cope with.

This is a page turner that will take you into the wee hours of the morning!

Let me start the book review with a small confession. I had almost ignored this book, thinking it to be a romance novel. Since the last couple of years, the market has been flooded with so many romance novels that sometime back I decided to give this genre a complete skip. Every book was the same run of the mill kind of story with nothing new to offer. However, I am so glad I finally ended up picking this book for this one stays true to its tagline “To friendship… with love.” It's one of those books which are so much more than the blurb.
With a cover that is simple and elegant, it sets the tone for the book in many ways. Very rarely do you get to read a book that is not a mystery novel and it still is high on suspense and intrigue. With a well-woven plot and written in an engaging tone, the author has managed to grab the attention of a reader right from the first few pages itself. The characters are so well endowed, that you cannot help but fall in love with them, a little more in every passing chapter. Many times I have noticed that in making interesting primary characters, the authors neglect the secondary characters completely. But I was in for a huge surprise as this book has some of the most endearing secondary characters who stay with you.
The story starts with Anshuman, well set in his life, looking forward to marrying Alisha, the ‘love of his life'. He is ready to start a new chapter in his life when the past comes calling.
Neatly divided into the different years, the primary characters were in touch, the story progresses in a manner that makes your heart skip a beat with the stratagem. It is an emotional read, and given the person that I am, I ended up shedding a lot of tears. Some on joy, some in pain but in the end, I was smiling through my tears. It reminded me of a friend I had someone who had promised to be my best friend forever but then life had other plans.
The plot may feel very simple and straightforward, but it has a lot to offer to its readers. There are some very cliched moments in the book, yet they somehow all felt like bittersweet moments rather than eye-rolling, ‘same-old stuff' moments. That actually made me realize how good the author is with his execution of the story. There are no dull or boring moments in the narrative.
Anshuman and Indira will win your heart as individuals and with their relationship dynamic. The author has handled the secondary characters with equal importance. So, do not be surprised if a certain secondary character makes their place in your heart along with Anshuman and Indira.
I really enjoyed this book. I cannot think of a single book that I can draw parallels with this one… It is unique in its style of execution. It is also something you can share with all your loved ones which include friends and family. Strongly recommended, this is one read that promises to brighten up the dullest day of your life.

I found this book in my college library. I took this as I was too bored, and at first I thought this was a cliche friends-to-lovers cringey book, but oh? I was just not ready for the plot lol. this book somehow shifted my genre liking in books, I thought I was into romcoms, but nahhhh I was just lacking a romantic partner. the way they kept the friends as friends/soulmates in this book made me sigh in relief, as many authors somehow convert platonic relationships to a romantic interest. thus clearly depicts the exploitations of young love and how harmone(idk the spelling) and teen shiz mess up with our brain which cost's a life. a good book to read in one sitting, a simple one. One tip I would suggest is to read the poems after you finish the book, as it will make more sense. though the publication of the book in the story is a bit extra, it somehow tailors to the story
