New Traders are greedy and have unrealistic expectations; Rich Traders are realistic about their returns.
When New Trader awoke bright and early, he could feel his excitement building with every second.
Turning on his computer, he thought about all the hard work that went into building his account; all the hours of overtime at his first job, and delivering pizzas on weekends.
That part of his life was now over. His heartbeat quickened as he typed in his username and password. And there it was, his $10,000 trading account.
He was ready.
How could he not be? He had been trading through simulated accounts for over a year, watched financial news, and followed trading gurus online.
The way he saw it, it was easy...

This book can be a great place to start for beginner traders, non-technical and light reading. I loved the fun conversation-format in the book, between a new trader and a rich/seasoned trader. Its amusing to see that trading fundamentals just haven't changed in the last 100 years, we are still making the same mistakes made historically by traders. The book is categorized into 3 parts - psychology, risk management and methodology, which is essentially all there is to successful trading. The author also gives many other good book references at the end of it.
This story of New Trader seems to be the way to become a millionaire overnight. There is also a rich trader living in the same city. New Trader talks to him and tells him his plan is to quadruple his money next year. New Trader started investing blindly in the market and came to Rich Trader with a huge loss. Rich Trader explained to him, "Buddy, this is not as easy as you think. You have to learn it.” New Trader is ready to learn and from here his journey from New Trader to Rich Trader would begin. Investment and trading are two different things. Seeing people posting their profits on social media and Newbie like me start trading and losses his hard earned money. It is important to understand that trading is an art and you have to learn it. The author of the book is Steve Burns is a great trader, but also an amazing author. Reading the book, it seemed that he had written my story. The author talks about every mistake that a newcomer makes in the market and also gives the solution. The book is written in very simple language. A must read if you are new to Stock Trading.
This book starts with an engaging conversation between a new trader and a professional trader. It gives you hints about where you, a new trader is gonna go wrong. I love this book.
4.5/5 - Great, short intro for beginners. The conversational narration makes it easy to follow along and keep interested in. Looking forward to reading more books by this duo.
I've been at this trading stuff for a couple months now. I lost big time, and I've gained big time. My cousin recommended this book as a basic guide to trading. This isn't a standalone study guide. It's just a nice step into the right direction of learning what kind of trader you're able to become. I've got more things to learn before I've become a Rich Trader. But every loss is knowledge gained.
This is an excellent book with a rich dad poor dad feel to it that cuts out all the fluff of trading. Set to s very relatable storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
To be perfectly honest, this succinct book contains many undeniable facts about trading. Literally every single sentence is thoughtful written. There’s very little waste in this short read. But it can also be said that many of the pointers in the book are by no mean industry secrets. Many were ideas or words of wisdoms by other great minds as referenced in the books. Burns simply did a decent job by repackaging them into bullet points directly and/or indirectly. Also, using his frictional narrative form of storytelling, the conversations between the veteran and the amateur seems to be a good idea to explain the psychology of this business.
I recommend listening his interview with Chat With Traders podcast (https://youtu.be/vCS0cxtvf7g) so as to piece everything together. This is especially helpful for new traders.
Nonetheless this is a fast and easy read and is beginner friendly to all non finance person too. Recommended 4/5.
This book was telling you about trading a fiction method. When I first read it, I feel his other books are much better than this. However, I really like this quote from his book, "What separates successful people from unsuccessful people in all areas of life is that they persevere until they are successful. Everyone must overcome failures, but those who keep going are the ones with successful marriages, businesses, careers, and trading systems. Resilience doesn’t guarantee you will win, but it gives you more opportunities to succeed because you stay in the game. From " Burns, Steve. New Trader Rich Trader: 2nd Edition: Revised and Updated (p. 112)."
This is the first technical trading book I have read focusing not on trading techniques but on psychology, risk and methodology to be a great trader. The book certainly expanded my horizon when looking at trading as there are so many different factors to look for aside from the technical graphs. I definitely learned a ton from this book. I especially enjoyed the structure of the book in terms of conversations between a new trader and an experienced trader. I had so many questions being answered in this book and there are many relatable and useful knowledge that I will add to my trading strategies.
A crisp and easy to read starter on trading process and psychology.
The 2 characters ( of new trader and rich trader) very well explain all the issues and feelings a trader goes through and what he aspires to become. Though the content could be compressed and be given as a simple guideline list of do's/don'ts in trading, but instead is presented as conversation between 2 people with sprinkled humor in between. That is pretty easy to read, understand and digest.
I already knew most of the pointers the book touched but it still was an interesting read.
They promised a guaranteed return on my investment but after investing my life savings, I got nothing in return. They seemed legitimate at first, but it was all a scam. I urge people to stay away from awful platforms and not risk their hard-earned money like I did. Reported a scam to Mrs. Doris Ashley. Dorisashley71 at gm a il. Co m.

Very important book for who is starting the trading path. Does not have systems. It has a thing that is much more relevant: Foundational and philosophic principles that should always be there, no matter what is your system. Very good value for money. Thanks Steve Burns.
The must read book before starting their trading carrier
Steve and holly have put a master piece of physiology of a new trader and the guide provided in all 18 chapters is the best advice one can get before at the time of starting trading as business.
As an individual that is looking to pick up trading, the points raised in this book were very useful in shaping my psychology, ensuring that I am in the right frame of mind before I even start trading.
I would definitely revisit this book again in the future as a reminder to myself.
A great read for both new and experienced traders.
This book has been written in a very fun way and it explains the minutes of the trading world in very easy and understandable way. This book would benefit both new and experienced traders.
The book really covers stock trading at its core. Written from the perspective of a newbie trader, you find old parts of yourself within him and during his dialogs with rich trader, you can almost feel that you have a personal mentor aswell
Its a must read for beginners to trading and a good refresher even if you trade regularly. Short and crisp, on the point. Could easily make post its out of it.
This book explains with real life trading situations that most new traders are likely make and how experienced traders would do otherwise to make money. A refresher course for both new and old traders.
This is a very useful book for beginners and those who are finding it difficult to trade. Of course, experienced traders may find the contents are not new but it will reinforce the trading methodology to be adopted by a trader to be successful.
Light read that really drives the point of mastering psychology, risk, and methodology. There is no such thing as easy money - you have to clock in the time and put in the work. Great for beginners and those who need reminders of how different new and rich traders think and behave.
Great book. Teaches the most logical concepts which even the most experienced minds in the game would not have considered. Recommended for anyone looking to learn trading and earn some money on the side/during college or even full time.
