This is not a pat little ending about me and Jonathan riding off into the sunset. I knew I was never destined for that, but no one warned me about the pain. No one told me about the hurt. No one told me what I’d risk for him.
I’ll do anything to make it right. Anything. You think I won’t kill for him? You’re wrong.
I have to earn my happily ever after, and we have to survive it.

C.D. Reiss

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestselling author. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping a single cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

I'm extremely torn about this.

It's strange because I loved this one, it was beautiful in all of its pain. But it was too much for me so I didn't finish it. I read the last ten or so pages so I know where it goes and even that was painful to me. It was a happy ending but knowing it had an expiration date broke my heart. I want to finish it but I cant.

Welp I did not see that coming. I figured it was meningitis.

Why is it so hot that he’s trying to fuck her from his hospital bed?

I swear Margie is my favorite character.

I didn’t really hate Jessica, I felt like she was an annoying gnat. Until she showed up at the hospital. Monica should’ve gutted her on the spot.

Omg this fucking book made cry so hard.

Interesting how he was less authoritative outside the bedroom before the heart. Now that he’s less of a dom in the bedroom, he’s like a bulldozer outside of it. Control some way or another.

Quotes:

“I want you to understand something. That man? He’s not some boyfriend in a line of them. He is my alpha and omega. He is the sky over me. Without him, I’m lost. There’s no one else, no one whose soul balances mine the way his does. I’ve waited my life for him, and when he came, I didn’t recognize him. Not until recently. If I lose him, I swear, as God is my witness, I will be alone. No man can match him.”

“Margie?” I raised my hand a little, and she took it, coming closer so she could hear me. “What?” “You’re my new favorite. Thank you.” “I’m keeping tabs on every dime because you’re going to get better, you little fuck. I don’t know how, but this isn’t how it ends. Do you understand me? It’s not ending like this.”

“Goddess,” he said, his breath on my mouth, “have me, please. I was wrong. You’re not the sea under my sky. You are the sun I revolve around, the stars that mark me, the moonrising through me. I’m lost without you. If you won’t have me, I’ll break, I swear to God. I know it’s selfish, and I’m sorry. Let me serve you. Have me as yours. Let me live under you.”

Sing-Part 7 of 9: I’m not really a fan of what happened with Jonathan in this episode. It didn’t help that it lasted for the whole book. I prefer to see him strong and dominant, not pushed to background due to his condition. The rest of the story in this part was what carried the book for me. Finally the ex-wife gets what she deserves. Monica finally interacts with the evil father who pretends he isn’t evil. I’m interested in seeing what happens there. Will we see him show his true colors later? This ended in a way the author could have stopped at this book but I’m glad she didn’t because it would have been an underwhelmed ending. I have no idea where the story will go from here.

Coda-Part 9 of 9: The final conclusion to Jonathan and Monica's love story. It was real and raw. It gave us a look at what struggles a married couple would go through after dealing with the aftermath of a heart transplant and a new career in the beginning of a marriage. There was no interference from the ex wife, the ex boyfriend or even the evil father. It was just them.

This couple went through a lot in the short time they have been together. I would have liked more fluff for their last book but I still very much enjoyed it. I've loved the whole series. I like these two and for the most part, I liked how they handled everything that was thrown against them.

I listened to the audiobooks for this series and the narrators were fantastic. This is one of the rare cases where I think the narrators enhanced the books. I highly recommend listening to them.

DOMINANCE-Part 8 of 9This is technically part 8 but it is really just extra pov's for different parts of the timeline in this series. It's worth the read to learn a bit more information, mainly Jonathan's pov.

This bundle was my favorite. Monica was less annoying and I really like the story and how things progressed between them it felt natural, real. They had problems and they make it work. I loved the "ending" - have to read the 10th book to see if there is something added, but all in all good conclusion and nice story.

I'm not gonna lie, I DID NOT expect that!!
I effing cried. i gulped back the stone lodged in my throat and blinked back my tears MANY A TIMES!!
From here on forward,it's Monica's story all the way. Her compassion, generosity of spirit, her iron mettle, her loyalty are all applause worthy. Some times, very small times, I felt she became whiny a bit but the circumstances she was thrown in were too enormous so she deserved some grace.
Jonathan was as usual alpha male, but every Alpha meets his Omega and in rare instances, they switch roles.
This series is the BEST example of how!!
5 gigantic stars for now my FAVORITE COUPLE

This was an amazing series! I loved books 1 & 2 but 3 was incredible!!!!! The chemistry this couple has is off the charts! Their story has been beautiful, sexy, scary, sad and happy! I think this book hit every emotion I have. I love that I feel like this story was complete when this ended but I wouldn't be upset if it continued ;) The writing was perfect, the sex was beyond hot and the narration was perfect....more than perfect!!! I can't wait to check out Songs of Corruption next!

I sobbed the whole first half of this book. I couldn’t comprehend what was happening and why something like that would happen!
Jonathan is obviously a strong male character who dominates his scenes, and otherwise, but seeing him so fragile… knowing he was scared. Ugh it crushed me!!
This was probably my favorite in the series.
Seeing Jonathan and Monica as a couple, their fears, their fights, their weaknesses… It was all raw and real.
I still want to know what will happen in ten years time though 😭😭😭

It was a pretty good ending to the series!

I really enjoyed how the author explored each character's depth and how far someone is willing to go under excruciating circumstances.

This series really blew me away, it has become one of my favorites.. Jonathan is the Dominant, alpha male you always have been dreaming of and Monica is the prefect submissive strong, vulnerable and compliant..

in this last book of the series, there is more ups and downs in Monicas and Jonathans relationship.. tragic situations that both are trying to survive and move on so they can continue living their love.. but sickness, tragedy, family and past keep trying to separate them.. So many lies still hidden.. is time for the truth to finally come out.. is time for Jonathan and Monica to be happy..

In Connection, i saw a very big change in Monicas character.. she felt stronger, less insecure.. more trustful and also i love how beside going into old habits and run away whenever thing got heavy.. she fought harder and stronger for him.. this time she wanted to be happy with the love of her life, her King her Sir her Master...

love the series, love the characters, Monica and Jonathans chemistry is OFF the charts, is hard to find such a chemistry in books but they really surpassed my expectations.. amazing!!

so in LOVE with Jonathan, what an amazing Dominant!!
wonderful conclusion of the series, super recommended..

I can't say I love the turn this story took. It sort of wrecked me. I really hated seeing Jonathan weak.

Instead of reviewing, I will just put some of my favorite quotes.

“Goddess,” he said, his breath on my mouth, “have me, please. I was wrong. You’re not the sea under my sky. You are the sun I revolve around, the stars that mark me, the moon rising through me. I’m lost without you. If you won’t have me, I’ll break, I swear to God. I know it’s selfish, and I’m sorry. Let me serve you. Have me as yours. Let me live."

I love when you can feel the love on the pages. Characters have to go through some stuff for this kind of quote to work and not come off as completely corny.

"I feel beautiful. You’ve made me feel like that all day, looking at me like that in your black tux. I say, ‘What do you want, sir?’ And you say—”

“I say this,” he interrupted. Even with his rasp of a voice, I stopped. “I say, ‘Tomorrow I’m going to destroy you. I’m going to mark your body and ruin your mind. By noon, you won’t know whether to laugh or cry. But tonight? Tonight, I will revere you. I will build an altar of myself. I will frame you in stars.’”

Where to begin?

I'm not even sure. I definitely know reading about Monica and Jonathan has my insides twisted. These two have the kind of chemistry that belongs in fairy tales, albeit dark twisted forgotten ones. The telling of their story could be over, but they will forever live on.

Audio book is a must have for this. My all-time favorite narration couple. Christian Fox and Jo Raylan. This powerful combination makes this book, these characters, come alive.

This is Book 3 of the Submission Series - The Drazen Books

1. Sing

Jonathan & Monica's story continues. Jonathan had damaged his heart when he was a teenager. At an event they had been at he collapsed. He needs heart surgery. They get really close when he's in the hospital, telling each other about their lives, and getting to know one another, finally. Meanwhile, Monica is due to record her first record. Needless to say, she didn't record her music. Things began to get very intense. She has big problems, too. This is a tear jerker of a story. It is very emotional as well. Then it jumps to two years later. She is a music star. Monica was worried that he would never be himself again. They are married. She is performing on her wedding day with her best friend, Darren and his band. There is a discrepancy between her and Jonathan about who is performing, which means her name. End of book 1.

2. CODA

This section is the story between the two years from the previous book. It tells in detail how Jonathan came back into himself. Jonathan & Monica together after the surgery. He tells of all the feelings he is going through, but he is not the Jonathan he was before the surgery. He's missing something within himself. He feels like he is losing Monica. She has her own doubts. She's always thinking what could happen to him after his heart transplant. After all, they only last for ten years or so. All the feelings that each of them go through are told. Then we come to the present. Will they be together fully again? Will they get rid of their fears? I guess you'll just have to read this book to find out. I promise you it will be worth it.

3. A Valentine

This is Bonus Material about Jonathan & Monica

It's six weeks after Jonathan's transplant. Both of them are afraid to have sex because of Jonathan's condition. He has been given the go ahead, though. He goes for his biopsy the next day, just to find out it's Valentine's Day, which he forgot. He made a plan for a romantic dinner. She had already made plans. Both of their plans were surprises. He ended up going home where she was. Finally, the sex issue wasn't a problem anymore. It's a cute little story; only four chapters.

4. Rachel

Rachel is the girl that comes up in the story of Jonathan & Monica. Jonathan knew Rachel way before he met Monica. This little story tells of the time when he was fifteen and she was not much older than him. This story involves Jonathan's father. It is not pretty in the least. The story jumps back and forth from his engagement party with Jessica, to the past of him and Rachel. There was also the birthday party for Sheila, but they weren't engaged yet. Jonathan and Rachel were seeing one another at that time. Rachel was there and she was talking to his father. He left with Rachel, but he was drunk, and doesn't remember the rest of the evening. At his engagement part there was a hypnotist and he hypnotized him and everything came back to him. What an awakening it was. This brings to light the missing pieces in the book itself.

5. Breathe

This is a story that takes place before Jonathan and Monica had the baby. This story has to do with a singing coach who teaching her correctly. She had to learn how to breathe, such the title of this story. Monica goes through a rough time in this story. There are steamy scenes in the story, as in the whole series. She also needs to breathe with the things she does with Jonathan, such the title of the story, also. It's a fascinating short story. I love it.

Wow, ok, not at all what I expected. Very good writing for sure. And between the medical problems and the toxic emotonal fear that situation created, the story continued with the very strong S&M theme that was Jonathan and Monica's "story".

However, in the first two books we had some light and fun and good banter between the characters along with the very dark S&M. It helped even out the darkness and brutality of the S&M and the aftermath. In this book the seriousness and heaviness of the story took up so much space that it felt dark all the time and then the S&M was dark, so the story was very heavy and depressing. The other loss they experienced brought the story down even further. And the things that could have helped bring the story up, make it more intreging, and give some spice (like the ex-wife, the father) were glossed over.

Again I will say that the writing was excellent, and I am not lost on the points trying to be made because the emotion just seeped through like faucett you can't get to shut off. And I am giving it four stars because of the writing and the emotion it brought out, but I am not sure knowing now how this book unfolded that I would have choosen to read it, because I continually struggled to continue reading. I am glad their story had a somewhat happy ending.

Audible Review Title:
“This was not my usual fav trope”

Well, I figured out early on while listening to Sequence 2 that this would be a challenging read for me. I was no longer a Monica fan at all and had to skim listen or skip her POV chapters all together. In contrast, I was very interested in Jonathan and his happiness. His fate, the shift and subsequent change in their relationship created an interesting tension in their Sub/Dom sexual relationship.

While not my cup of tea, many fans of this series’ premise have loved it. I would definitely read another romance novel written by CD Reiss that had an intriguing plot premise because I enjoyed her Hardball novel.

As this was the conclusion to the series, it wrapped everything up in a way unique to Monica and Jonathan. It is different, in their style and fun. They continue the struggle of being a couple grappling with the heart condition. Jonathon is delicate yet strong and they learn to deal with that. His whole life has changed and Monica has turned to her career and learning to steer her musician life.

Many kinks are thrown at them and they deal with it, and learn to be a couple. They never had a chance to be a real couple. Jessica is taken care of, in a rather interesting way. The family situation has settled, and the time is then for them to be a couple and go on dates.

The extra stories added at the end are cool, a little complicated but cool. Fun to learn about about the characters in different stories, even if they were meant to be deleted they are still fin to read.

I love reading books from this author. They are unique and interesting and different and never the same story line or ideas.

Mind blowing!

Absolutely loved all three books, submission, dominance and connection!, Jonathan is absolutely adorable, very dominant and could be quite cruel, but had a lovely gentle loving side as well, Monica was just what he needed, they were exquisite together, loved the way CD Reiss writes, very erotic but not ingratiating, although it was very erotic all the way through the three books, the story line was strong and gave you a real insight into domination, read it, will have captivated all the way to the end of Jonathan and Monica's love story, because that was it is!!!

This is the third book in the Submission series and they do need to be read in order.

This book has less drama than the first two, but even as a married couple they have issues to overcome. Jonathan's heart transplant, health and self-imposed travel restrictions cause issues for them both. Monica's singing career has taken off. Jonathan wants to push her to travel and succeed in her dreams. Monica wants to home with Jonathan because she fears her time with him might be all too short. They have other discussions, tears and joys about growing their family. There is still heat between this couple but more of a warm simmer than huge spikes. They have a happy conclusion to wrap up this trilogy.

OMG!!! Jonathan and Monica are so far my favorite couple from the Drazen siblings. They were hot and sexy, romantic and annoying all at the same time. Yes, they fell in love in a short period of time, which we questioned is it true love or a fling? But man Miss Reiss did definitely take her readers for a roller coaster ride throughout the entire series. I loved how Monica's compassion was matched with Jonathon's alpha male. They were going through a lot of emotions through and through. I am not ready to say "good bye" to them, but will have to do till next time Jonathan and Monica. I can't wait to read more from C.D. Reiss. I would definitely recommend it to all.

This book concludes the Submission series, but is still full to the brim of shenanigans.

We have to weave through some darker times to get to an ending, but we're rewarded with the sweetest HEA for Jonathan and Monica. It almost feels worth it.

Almost.

C.D. Reiss has a skill in packing twists and turns and drama and the absolute unknowable into stories and making a reader go through all the feels before settling on the HEA. I'm glad I picked this series up as a completed series - I'd have lost my sanity if I'd had to wait for some of those cliffhangers to be addressed 🤯

The series as a whole is a brilliant story, too. This book brings it all together and ends it brilliantly.

I don't understand how these book got such high ratings. The writing was bad, the books were boring, the plot was non-existent, & when it tried to have some kind of development it just jumped from point to points. There was no flow, no real resolution- just a bunch of superficial problems that either were swept away, quickly & messily resolved, or out right ignored. Even the timeline was messed up. And don't get me started on the whining from the female character. There is nothing I hate more than a heroine who creates her own problems!

Life goes back and forth

Jonathan*s illness had taken a toll on Monica. She loved him so much that she was willing to sacrifice her well being for him to live. They were so in tune, they knew when each was hiding their feeling so each would not hurt by their problem with each other.
Jessica true feeling came out to the point, I realized what she was willing to do to get what she wanted.
It explains why Jonathan was scrolled up and had to be in control at all times, he waa born into that environment. But to me, he could have changed from being a sadist to a real BDMS.

Oh, my. What a roller coaster of a story. I will try to do this with out giving out too much info, no spoilers. After the cliff hanger from book 2, book 3 dove right into it. Back and forth, back and forth. Poor Monica had so much going on, so many struggles and battles to win. How far would you go for love? Heartbreaking, heartbreaking, heartbreaking. Then, the light came and a whole new struggle/battle began. Thankfully, fears and insecurities take a back seat and life can be lived. I strongly recommend this series. I am not a sadist, I understand that it is a life style for some.
