This sturdy board book is a sweet love note from caregiver to baby in which little insects snuggle with their loving grown-ups. Each page features a cut-out insect, which is raised slightly so that babies can reach out and feel the shape. Both Jumping Joan (7 months) and Little Bo Peep (2.5 years) love this book and seem to enjoying hearing it repeatedly. Jumping Joan is drawn to the insects' faces, while Bo Peep seems to like hearing the names of the different bugs. We liked this one so much, we wound up recommending it to friends who have a 9 month old.

I bought this book to make a donation to Toys for Tots but I had to read it, too. Who can resist this cover? The book was as delightful as the smiling ladybug suggests. Illustrations were also top-notch.

Bright, 3-D bugs make this a delightful board book for our youngest readers. The words are in rhyme, and the images are all for ways a beloved child is like various insects.

The holy grail of children’s books. My baby’s absolute favorite. I’ve lost track of how many times we’ve read this but I have it memorized and can start rehearsing it to calm her down. Thank you Nicola Edward’s 🙏🏼

This is an adorable little board book for those small ones you love and they will clutch it in their tiny hands carrying it about with them (well they might slip a little hand through one of the cutouts for toting) keeping all those cute little bugs with them.

The text is delightful and promotes a feeling of love and sweetness. The illustrations are bug-out-cute from the love-bug ladybug on the cover right on the the last bug in the book. You very own "Cuddle Bug" will love getting his "cuddle on" when this little book is read to him or her.

As you flip the page to see the "mommy/daddy" bug cuddling the little one, the left page cut out highlights the previous page's text. Good connectivity!

I just love this little book and highly recommend it for home with little ones and all preschools and church nurseries!

I received a complimentary copy to facilitate this review. Opinions are mine, alone, and are freely given.

If you have a toddler in your house, run out and get this book for their Easter basket! Celebrate how much you love your own little "cuddle bug" by reading this book with them.

This seven-inch-square board book is perfect for toddlers to hold. The pages are sturdy and each page either has a cut-out or a 3D image of a bug. Through a rhyming verse, the story shares how much your own little bug is loved whether they are a ladybug, a bumblebee, a caterpillar, a butterfly, or a beetle. The illustrations of each bug are absolutely adorable with the big eyes and bright colors.

I loved reading these kinds of books to our children showing them in a new way just how much I loved them. Sharing how much joy and laughter they bring into your life offers security and love to your kids no matter how young they are. This early reading time with your child is so important to establishing a love a reading and their development of language. With summer coming up, parents could even take their child outside to look for these specific bugs from the story and talk about what makes each bug important in our eco-system.

Ultimately, this is a sweet book to read to a child that shows the most important part of being a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, or babysitter...your love for them. It's too sweet of a book to pass up.

Edwards, Nicola You're My Little Cuddle Bug, illustrated by Natalie Marshall. BOARD BOOK. Silver Dolphin Books (Printers Row Publishing), 2018. $9. 9781684122585.

This is a very cute and winning board book that celebrates the love between parent and child. Every two pages focuses on a different bug--butterfly, ladybug, caterpillar, etc--and the expressions of love between parent and child. You could interpret the pages as being a mom butterfly talking to her little one, or simply representations of the nicknames human parents give to their little ones. In either case--it works.

I call my own little kiddos "bugs" so I was predisposed to love this book, but I do think its a really great choice. The illustrations are colorful and sweet, and the extra dimension of having a cut out for the bug each page makes it more interesting and fun for kids. Its a great read aloud and is a great choice for the youngest readers.

This board book expresses affection and endearment to a child in second person using different bugs.

The book has a cutout design that shows the child version of the item on one page with its and its adult caregiver shown together on the next page.

Bugs: ladybugs, bees, caterpillars, butterflies, and beetles.

Caveat: There are scientific inaccuracies in this book. The child and adult ladybugs, caterpillars, and butterflies are all shown as bigger/smaller versions of each other when in reality caterpillars are “baby” butterflies or moths and ladybugs do not look like adult ladybugs in their larval or pupa stages.

A fast-paced read that really leans into its central theme: cuddles—and lots of ‘em. Maybe a little too much rhyming, but I respect the commitment. The character development was nonexistent, and the conflict? Virtually zero. Still, the message was clear—this bug loves its kid, and it will not be taking questions, doubts, or any second guessing at this time. A solid choice if you’re into affection-based literature. ⭐⭐

I give it two stars because I was actually forced to read it twice so one star for each time 🤷‍♀️

I love this book. It is adorable. I love the rhyming story and the bright beautiful jump off the page illustrations. This will certainly become a new favorite for entire family. It is super fun to read aloud and it will be one that your child wants to hear over and over again. You're My Little Cuddle Bug will make a perfect gift for Easter, Spring or anytime. Board books are made to last and tend to be the books kids return to time and time again. A must for the home library.

This is a very cute book to read to your children and should always leave them with a smile. There is some confidence boosters throughout the book as well as being a rhyme which is always fun to read. Since it ends with a big at night before bedtime its a fun transitional way to put your kid to bed at night.

I read this almost every night with my son—sometimes multiple times a day. I know the book cover to cover, we both love it.

This book series is just the cutest. Have to include in my 2022 reading challenge, because the amount of time I have spent reading this (so far this year) would definitely equate to a novel (of my choosing). 🤓

I don't know, it just didn't land for me. I think I find the "you're my...[fill in the blank]...kind of child, mama, papa" books kind of trite. I suppose the "cut out" insects are a neat feature to touch and feel and trace, but the pages were a little hard to turn, and I would have been fine with each full verse on its own page.

Super cute - it's got big, bright illustrations and simple, rhyming text - and the cutouts are great for little fingers to explore. (My little is VERY into textures, so I'm thinking she'll love this!)

Meh.

I thought it was going to be about cuddling but it was about bugs. I'm not much of an entomologist and couldn't really care less.

Story: nonexistent, just disconnected descriptions of bugs.

Art: meh.

Don't think I will be purchasing this one.
