If you want a damsel in distress saved right, sometimes you have to save her yourself. With Amel's friend Savette kidnapped, Amel hoped people would believe her about how important it is to rescue Savette. Unfortunately, all they want from her is her silence and obedience and they are willing to threaten both her life and her dragon Raolcan's to get it. That's not enough to stop Amel. She's determined that Savette will be rescued and she won't be stopped by threats or powerful enemies.

Um does anyone know when this series will End? Because if you do, do not tell me! I want and need more of Amel and Roulcan!
Once again, a fantastic episode! I have recently discovered that every 18 days there will be a new novel released in this series, sort of like a tv show. Can I say how genius that is?! No longer we will have to wait months and years for a new novel!
Anyways, back to my review, we continue the journey with Amel. Previously she has met the Dark Prince, a very uncanny character. I still cannot decide if his good or not, his intentions aren't clear but when his first intended Savette is kidnapped by Magikas, he threatens Amel to find her or else. But the teachers at the Dragon School has also threatened Amel to keep her mouth shut and her nose out of the business or she will be silenced along with her beloved dragon, Rouclan.
Confused and desperate, Amel is caught in between yet she knows where her loyalty lies. She trusts Savette and Rouclan, she isn't incapable to saving her friend, so what does she Do? Yes she goes to save her herself! Whose to say cripple girl can't save a friend? Just because she uses a crutch it doesn't mean she's stupid and defenceless Amel's attitude and courage is definitely something that I admire. Love this series because of how much she has grown throughout these four novels and I cannot wait to read the rest
Awesome setting, great plot, great use of suspense and I love the new characters, especially Lenora.
Great series! Highly recommend everyone to read it!
Received a copy from the author herself, in exchange for an honest review, thank you!
I’m not the biggest fan of serial stories – I much prefer one big chunky book I can sit and devour over the course of a couple of hours – yet the Dragon School series has me addicted. In fact, it may well be the only serial I follow to the end.
Dragon School: First Flight, book one, sucked me completely into the world – it was so much more than I’d expected, and I couldn’t wait to get more. Dragon School: Initiate, book two, sucked me in even deeper – it showed me there was more to the story than I’d originally thought, ensuring I would pick up the next. Dragon School: The Dark Prince, book three, was a very important book in the series – it may not have been my favourite book, but it was vital to the overall story. Dragon School: The Ruby Isles, book four, continues to move things forward in a wonderful way – it may not be my favourite of the first four stories, but it is another important addition.
In this fourth addition to the series, we have another vital read that adds a lot to the overall story. For such a short read, so much happens throughout this one. There are plenty of big things added – numerous events that will clearly have repercussions – along with a number of smaller things that I feel are foreshadows of what is to come – things that seem to happen in passing, yet I do not believe for a minute superfluous events occurred. In fact, I feel as though everything that happened in this one will prove to be vital in the future of this series – so much happened throughout, and things really are moving at a rapid pace.
I will not give any details of what happens, but know there is plenty added to the series. The ending in particular will hit you hard – it will leave you wanting the next book, and wanting it right now. I cannot wait to see what comes next, curious to see how everything comes together based upon the bang that was the ending to this one.
Without a doubt, another fun addition to the series.
Despite having her life and that of her beloved dragon threatened for her silence and obidence (from different people) Amel has had enough waiting around, holding her tounge.
With no knot of her own, she was put in a new group when she reached the Ruby Ilses, with: Lenora, Artis, and twins Olla and Orra. Together they will study and help each other pass their upcoming tests, as the rush for more full dragon riders is still in effect. While Amel studies hard she can't help but notice that nothing is really being done about Savette's abduction and Starie's involvement in everything. A high Castelan's word is worth more than someone with no status, and Leng has been missing since right after the attack. It's just her word against Staire's. When she realizes that Starie is to replace Savette as the prince's bride, Amel knows she just can't sit back anymore.
As she plans her rescue mission with Roalcan, she finds that she may have more allies than enemies. She gets some very useful tips to help her successfully escape, and then even more help when she gets to where she needs to be. Unfortunately, not everyone who comes to aid her in her mission is really with her. The more time that passes, the less likely she will be able to find her friend or figure out what's really going on.
Will Amel, Roalcan and few surprise allies be able to save Savette and stop the Majika's once and for all? What will happen to all the students when / if they return to dragon school? Amel was determined to do one thing: save her friend - but will everything else she comes away with matter? They were so close to being sworn in their colors, but now they'll either be seen as heros and allowed to continue, or worse, as traitors and permanently stripped of their titles.
The Ruby Ilses by Sarah K. L. Wilson is the fourth episode of her Dragon School serial. This is an action packed YA fantasy story.
So far this installment has been my favorite. We spend some time in the Ruby Ilses, but then we end up at Daedru Castel and the sprawling sky-city of Vanika (Vanika is the 5th largest sky city). So, the world expands even more and I love the idea of sky cities! We don't really meet any new characters, but we do get a closer look into the ones who have already been introduced. We also get a better idea of what the Majika's are up to, too. I really enjoyed seeing that Amel had more allies than she thought she did. They might not all be considered her friends, but it was cool to see people want to help her cause. I loved how she was willing to risk everything to help save her one human friend, and that Roalcan was more than willing to be by her side through it all.
There was a lot of important information given to us in this episode, but one thing I've been wondering about since the beginning was how the magic worked in this world. I'm happy that there was a bit of an explanation on how dragon riders are able to bound dragons to certain places and people, but I wish it went a little deeper. For example: can anyone be taught word magic? Why do humans and dragons who are bonded together get a unique design on their arms / wings? Hopefully, this will be better explained in the future. Though, to be honest, I do really love how Sarah K. L. Wilson keeps her readers guessing and doesn't just give us random "info dumps" along the way.
Amel really steps up her game in this part and I love how no matter whats at stake she's strong willed enough to do the right thing, especially for those she feels most loyal to. With Leng being gone for most of this part, it didn't feel awkward with their almost romance, which I was glad for. I hope that after everything Amel did this time will make him understand she's more capable of doing things than he thinks she is.
I'm excited to see what will happen to Amel and everyone involved in the rescue now that this part is over, in terms of Dragon school. Will they be punished for their troubles or rewarded? On to the next to see!
The forth in this bite sized series, and I enjoyed this far more than the last novella. Amel comes back into her own once more and I appreciated how she overcomes challenges and difficulties on her own steam. There's far more going on in this instalment as well and you get a hint of the wider world outside the confines of the Dragon School itself. There's a decent amount of action to dig into here as well, which is a bonus.
I'd still say that the world-building and characterisations could do with significantly more depth, but I was happy that the side-characters weren't simply obnoxious here. The lack of information is still in play though, and it's particularly noticeable how 'class' is back on the table in how Amel isn't being believed. I'm also starting to notice more contradictions the further I go. In the opening instalments, it was once a Dragon Rider, always a Dragon Rider. This seems to have turned on it's head and despite how precious a resource the dragons are meant to be, you can be expelled for spreading 'rumours'.
That said, I enjoyed this one and am once more interested in where the over arching narrative is going to go. I do however stick by my previous statement that these are only worth reading if you have Kindle Unlimited. Otherwise they simply don't offer enough bang for your buck.
Amel really strikes out on her own in this one. I love how she stuck to her guns and went after her friend. She gains some allies and faces some enemies and I love it. The action is getting really good and the story is still flowing from one book to the next. Her relationship with her dragon is beautiful to experience.
Oh wow! After reading this book I'm very much excited, more excited than the previous books made me. I'm loving Raolcan, he really made me laugh in this book and the interactions between him and Amel are just awesome, they really are. I loved the step that Amel takes in this book, very brave and I also love that she discovers she has more allies around her than she thought. Although I really want to know what's going on with Grandis Elfar as there is definitely something fishy about the way she's acting. I felt the adventure jumped up another step here and we got to learn a bit more about what is going on. Like the other books, this one does end on a small cliffy, but as it's only a short time between releases it's really not a bad thing, and to be honest the endings add to the excitement of the story as it's building you up for the next part of the story. I'm very much looking forward to reading the next part of the story, this series has got me really excited with the fun and adventure it's bringing and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Dragon School: Ruby Isles by Sarah K.L. Wilson is book four in her Dragon School series. In this book we are reunited with Amel and her purple dragon, Raolcan. Amel is on the fast track to becoming Sworn, but she must pass the tests set before her. Things aren’t as a simple as that though. Amel has the problem of dealing with the Grandis who seems to be under quite a bit of stress. It’s not long before Amel is being threatened by the Grandis to keep quiet about the truth or else lose it all. The thing is the threats seem to be on all sides for Amel. Amel is determined to figure out a way to go after her friend, save her and bring her back. To accomplish these tasks Amel will need to learn a few things, gather the things she’ll need and hope for success. Dragon School: Ruby Isles is another engaging addition to Sarah K. L. Wilson’s series. This book does not disappoint on any level. Amel continues to grow and develop as a character. It’s great to see her becoming stronger and more confident. I like that she is less scared and more willing to take risks and to do what she feels is right. Despite the fact that she’s not totally sure that she and Savette are friends, she is willing to risk it all to save her. There isn’t anything that I don’t like about this book. Like the previous books in this series, this book ends on a cliffhanger, but it’s worth it. The plot continues to deepen and I love the twists that the author throws in. I am rating this story 5 out of 5 stars. The drama continues to build, and I’m eager to learn what happens next! The plot continues to thicken as questions arise, but the answers are few and far between. I’m sure they will be answered soon, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for Amel.
Wow! Action packed to the brim! In this 4th installment to the Dragon School series we see Amel in action doing what she knows best: how to be brave and selfless.
Things are moving fast for Amel. Though she has only been an Initiate for a few weeks she is forced to accelerate her progress and become a Sworn. Leonara has been assigned to be her mentor and Amel’s success will be a crucial indicator on whether both proceed in their journey to full Dragon Rider. Amel suffers disappointments and comes aross surprise allegiances. Grandis Elfar, who was someone Amel trusts, reveals her true colors shocking Amel. While she has always known where she stands in terms of her common blood versus High Castelan families, she never expected to be told that she is not trusted because of her status in society. Leonara and Tamas turn out to be shocking allies when she needs them the most. The prince Rakturan definitely has some sort of personal stake in all of this but Amel is not quiet sure what it is.
Amel puts herself in grave danger to save her friend Savette and even risks being removed from Dragon School. She knows whatever path she embarks on she will not be alone because Roalcan is always besides her. She inspires courage and bravery. She is a faithful friend and will not let harm come to her friends. Amel and Raolcan bring their brainstorming abilities and together plot out a plan to save Savette from whatever harm she may be in. Despite the fact that no one seems to believe Amel or even willing to hear her out, she is determined to fight for what she believes is right.
Another exciting short that is filled with non-stop action! Amel has finally decided that she is going to rescue Savette and she even manages to make some allies along the way. With politics going on behind scenes, Amel is set on ignoring them to save her friend. I liked how the small twists pop up and kept me asking questions as to whom the prince and others actually are and what they really know about what’s going on. I can’t wait to dive into book five!
If you’re looking for a fun, quick read I would highly recommend this book! I would recommend this for readers of young adult fantasy. I would recommend starting from the beginning.
Dragon School: The Ruby Isles is the fourth book in the Dragon School series.
I voluntarily received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
As expected, Prince Rakturan is featured prominently in this book, as it a fellow purple dragon rider Leng, who we only met briefly in the previous books. The book continues shortly after the previous one ends. I have just realised that these books would make a great episodes of TV series. I can already imagine beautiful landscapes, mountains and sea, glorious dragons and an epic adventure. Amel sets out to achieve what no one else was capable to achieve. Again she needs to employ all her wits to avoid all the threats and intrigue. She is joined by an unlikely ally on her journey to distant parts of the Dominion Kingdom. The ending of this book is equally expected as it is unexpected and I can't wait to see how this situation is going to be resolved. It is incredibly difficult to write reviews for this series without spoilers, as so much happens in less than hundred pages. It is an epic adventure packed with action, intrigue and conspiracies. And although some issues get resolved in each book, an abundance of question remain unanswered, additional issues and questions arise and the series keeps you on your toes. The series only makes sense if read in order: Dragon School: First Flight (Dragon School #1), Dragon School: Initiate (Dragon School #2), Dragon School: The Dark Prince (Dragon School #3), Dragon School: Ruby Isles (Dragon School #4), Dragon School: Sworn (Dragon School #5) and more books have been announced.
Dragon School: The Ruby Isles by Sarah K.L. Wilson is the fourth book in the Serial Noble Dragon School. It continues the story of Amel Leafbrought and the dragon Raolcan as she is being educated to be a Dragon Rider. In Ruby Isles, Amel is trying to find her friend Savette who was kidnapped on her way to marry a prince of another kingdom to secure an alliance and prevent war. With Raolcan's help, she discovers where Savette is being held, but will she risk her dream of becoming a Dragon Rider to save her?
I have become addicted to the Dragon School series. I admire the loyalty Amel has to her friends, and her determination to do what must be done regardless of the consequences. Her relationship with Raolcan continues to grow, and she trusts him unconditionally, as no other Dragon Riders at the school can trust their own dragons. She is also inspiring to people with disabilities, because she never uses her handicap to make excuses to get out of work or training, regardless of the chronic pain she is in.
I highly recommend this book for all ages from tween to adult. I requested an ARC copy of this book with the intention of giving an honest review, which I have done here.
This episode starts with Amel in the Dragon School being brought up to speed by Lenora, a more advanced rider. Savette is still missing and no one wants to hear Amel’s concerns about events or Starie. Raolcan, her dragon, gives her encouragement as well as direction in making plans to find Savette on her own. She and Raolcan escape Ruby Isles and land where they think Savette is being held. Surprise! Her fellow dragon riders show up to help in the search. This is a most exciting book, and I was not ready for it to end. Similar to prior volumes, this one builds on the previous stories and is a springboard for the next. This style of publishing reminds me of how Alexander Dumas’s books were originally printed as installments in newspapers, and creates a similar level of excited anticipation. I am sure the writer will catch much grief from readers over it, but by being available on Kindle Unlimited, the cost issue to the reader is removed, leaving only the hunger for the next episode. Good job, Ms. Wilson!
I received an advance review copy in exchange for a honest review.
This series continues to live up to my expectations, but again doesn't exceed them. The writing is good and there's plenty of action, but for me the disconnect still exists, which is again due to the episodic structure of the series. This structure does have one advantage though, and that is related to the main character, Amel. I often find that, with many books, the main character tends to annoy me because as a reader you spend so much time in their head. However I have read four instalments of the Dragon School series so far, and Amel herself has not become a chore to read. As far as main characters go, she is one of the better ones and this is both due top the writing and the fact that the episodic structure means you're not in Amel's head for as long, and so there's less opportunity to get annoyed with her. Because of this, I'm not only interested to see where the author will take this series next, but also how Amel will handle the challenges thrown at her in the next instalment.
This is a great series for anyone who loves the underdog. Amel is so likeable and brave that it's easy to root for her. In book after book she is underestimated and bullied, and she repeatedly comes through with flying colors. It really helps that she always has her dragon Raolcan supporting her physically and emotionally.
This book ends with quite a few loose ends, and I did feel that things were moved into a certain direction mostly just to leave those loose ends. That said, the larger story is really starting to come into focus. My interest in the series seems to increase with each book. I've no idea how many books are planned for the series, but I'm along for the ride.
(I received this from The Six Queens and have voluntarily reviewed it.)
Amel puts herself in grave danger to save her friend Savette and even risks expulsion from Dragon School. She knows she will not be alone because Roalcan is always besides her. Inspiring courage and bravery, she stands up for what she knows is true and still manages to be a faithful friend and help them.
Amel and Raolcan brainstorm and plot out a plan to save Savette from whatever harm she may be in. Despite the fact that no one seems to believe Amel or even willing to hear her out, she is determined to fight for what she believes is right.
This is my first visit to Dragon School and will not be my last. As part of a series, these books come together, but each one is an easy, fast, fascinating read that even someone like me new to the series can catch on quickly. I love Amel and Roalcan and their loyalty to one another. Recommended 4/5
Compared to the previous books the thrilling build up came from the story so far. We deal mostly with Amel and her fears what path is the right one to take, as all parties demand something - and silence - from her. She has to make a choice which seems right to her. The thing I loved most about this book is the world building. I love exploring this realm with Amel and Raolcan. And the thrilling hunt of being in the right place or not. Also Amel earning trust and respect from her knot, making friends, is great to see. She evolves and has to deal with new feelings and being able to rely on others, but she couldnt be more grateful. I miss the 4.5 stars option on goodreads. I couldn’t put the book away now I had time to read and pushed courses forward to read in 1 turn. But somewhere in the beginning is missed something that I felt in the previous books. Still, I can’t wait for more and it was a great read. And the adventure is far from over.

“Dark of velvet, deep embrace, Silver, bright, smiling face, Moon and stars reign above Nature’s intertangled love.” I have so many questions! What is the Dusk Covenant? What is their symbol? Is Leng okay, and why was he there/ how did he figure out where to go? Is Savette going to be okay? Physically Raolcan said she is okay but mentally I am worried. I love Lenora and the twins but is Lenora safe? After Amel left her upstairs we didn’t. Get much information on her... Grandis Elfar keeps acting very weird and suspicious... is she part of the Dusk Covenant as well or is she being controlled by them? I also find it crazy and annoying that everyone has to point out that Amel is disabled and from a peasant family, yet she is the one that saved everyone in the end. I think this is probably my favorite of the Dragon School series so far and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Sarah Wilson keeps up the pace with this offering in the Dragon School novela series
The stories are pretty fast and develop just like a quick episode of a television series. That said there are some cheats that the author does in order to ensure the direction of the plot. For one even though this is a young adult series that seems I am seeing something similar to Children books plotting. What I mean by this is that adults / leaders are fairly useless and just get in the way leaving our protagonist to solve all the problems.
Still the series the whole is interesting and with each offering there is plenty of action and expansion into the world she is creating. I do believe that the novela Series has an idea limits how much time the author can give to the depth of each addition.
I felt this book wasn't as good as the last three, but it was still enjoyable. The reason for this being is that I feelt things happened and occurred too easily. For example, when Amel escaped her knot, I thought for sure she would have to brave the world alone with her dragon. While it was very kind of her knot to stick by her, it seemed a little convenient. Same with the ending. I didn't think they would rescue Sevett so quickly. Ofc, most of the knot was apprehended by dragon riders, but still.
In any case, will be interesting to see where Amel, Sevett, and Ling will go from here. Also wonder about Ling's dragon and if he sensed Ling's plight. I also hope to see some mental truama and detail of Sevett's experience being captured as the author has handed ableism, classism, and disbility so well.

I can say this is the best book yet in the series. There is plenty of intrigue, mystery, and adventure to keep you enthralled till the very end. I loved seeing Amel finally make some friends who are there to have her back when she’s been on her own as an outcast from everyone for so long. She has really grown as a character and person which is inspiring. She’s a bit naive and can never see the bad in hardly anyone which is a bit eccentric, but it works for her. By now, she’s done so many things that could kick her out of the Dragon School that I wonder if she’ll ever be welcomed back to it. The political maneuvering continues, but isn’t as confusing as the previous book. I hope it continues to be somewhat intricate to keep things interesting and a puzzle to figure out as you keep going in the series.
Amel, is all about stepping up and doing what needs to be done. Savette needs to be saved, and Amel and Raolcan are the team to do so. Only nobody wants to let them do so.
In this read the world is expanded, and we're off to a sky city. Our girl, manages to make some new friends. While some of them are silly - looking at you O and O - another is just the right friend for Amel. It's really hard to not talk about my favourite scene without going into spoiler territory, but I'll just let you know somebody gets some well deserved time with a crutch.
I enjoyed this read, lots. And am looking forward to the next book.
In this fourth installment of the fast past young adult fantasy series we find Amel and Raolcan on a mission to the warm Ruby Isles, just after the mysterious political kidnapping of Savette. The true intended of the Dark Prince. Amel is almost a full Initiate now, she is just waiting on her color ceremony. But that has to wait. A rescue mission has to come first. For of course, no one believes a "cripple" like her. They only believe the popular girls like a High Castian Starie Atrelan. They will when Amel comes back with Savette though. High adventure and high lessons are in these pages. What a great series!
i love this series the longest it goes on!So alot has happened since the last book. Amel's friend Savette gets kidnapped and she is determined to save her friend. The only problem is she has no clue where to find her. Raolcan is able to pull the location in with the Magikas are keeping from Starie mind cuz yea he can do that hes amazing!! With a location in mind Amel runs away from Dragon School to find her friend. Of course unpon arriving in Vankia Amel discovers Leng is there! If you have been following my reviews i kinda ship them! Omg the ending! Talk about a literally cliffhanger! I cant wait to continue Amel story!
Highly entertaining, emotionally gripping and action packed fourth installment of a epic journey to save the magical world as they know it.
Amel and Leng are back with the rest of Dragon School as they arrive in The Ruby Isles. Only Amel is told to keep quit, mind her studies and stay out of Dragon Rider business for her own good. (but what fun is that right) Things heat up after her friend Savette is kidnapped just as the others arrive. Amel unwilling to leave her friends fate to others finds a way to get things done herself despite the threats thrown at her and her dragon from everyone. Looking forward to the next visit to this magical world.
I received an ARC copy and I can’t say enough how good this series is! This latest book just leaves me even more addicted. It’s so good! Who doesn’t love dragons with a strong female main character?! Amel just keeps growing as a person she never gives up despite whatever comes her way and her dragon Raolcan is awesome. He is totally kick ass. The story itself just is full of adventure and secrets and just when you think things are going fine then something else comes along and turn of events makes it even more interesting to read. I look forward to reading more about Amels journey and I hope she will be able to rescue Savette!
