it's ok. Like some other reviews, the ghost thing ruined a lot of it for me. It wasn't necessary either, the story could have been told without going there, perhaps just having the one apparition of Given through the daughter since she was high a lot.
The author does write well;however, sometimes the flow of the story gets bogged down with all the flowery description. Every action doesn't have to be "likened" to something. I gave it 3 stars, but feel a 2 1/2. I listened to the audio version which is nicely done. The main reason I made it through was the tension developed with the young Kayla and I wanted to see what would happen to her.
