Fourth grader Penina―aka Pinky―is a Yankees fan, an older sister, and Brooklyn's greatest kid detective. Pinky and her team get to the bottom of things through a series of exciting and intriguing adventures.
I read this as a bedtime book with my 8 year old twin boys and they loved it. They enjoyed making guesses about the characters. Before we even finished his one they had me looking for the next one in the series, which we are reading now. I do have to do a bit of explaining about Brooklyn life, because these kids of mine are solidly Midwestern.
Cute little lower-grade mystery with a wonderfully Jewish cast of characters. The writing is a little stilted, even for a book geared at this age, but the mystery is fun (although predictable for adult readers), and kids are likely to enjoy it.
