Is modern living stressing you out and getting on top of you? Try slowing things down a little by being more sloth.
Living in the 21st century is exciting, but with everything moving so quickly it can feel a touch overwhelming. It’s time that everybody relaxed and took a moment to enjoy the simple pleasures, but we also appreciate it’s easier said than done. That’s why we’ve enlisted the help of an expert to guide you along the path to peace. Meet your mentor: Brian the sloth.
Illustrations are very cute. Practical advice. I didn't, however, like the name the author chose for her sloth guide...Brian. Not a creative choice, in my opinion.
Lovely little book! LOVE the illustrations, it's humorous and has good advice / pointers.. except for page 57; "just lighten up and chill out" I mean.. that's all well and good until the anxiety hits. Besides that it's a great little pick me up book and perfect as a gift.
Am I likely to try eating another leaf to ease the stress? Probably not. Am I happy just to have another adorable sloth item to add to my collection? Very much so.
That said, there are some really good little bits of advice in this book mixed in with the humour and super cute illustrations.
It is really hard to rate a book when it feels like it is made just for fun, which is precisely the case for this short, cute book! How am I suppose to review this book seriously when there is a sloth (the same sloth) at every page telling me to take it easy? 🦥
Notwithstanding—and trust me—I am trying to be objective here, the take-it-easy tips dispensed by the said sloth feel like echoes of words I’ve heard or read elsewhere. While reading, I was mentally commenting: Erm okay. I don’t think it’s that easy? It’s not that simple! 😆
When I turned the last page, I didn’t feel relaxed. I felt unsatisfied, like my meal wasn’t complete. Sloth, there’s more to dig!
“tip 8: use the power of plants ...harness the energy of mother nature and indulge in some natural remedies. herbal teas have been used for thousands of years to aid relaxation, to promote a sense of calm...” ☕️ 🥰
“tip 9: don’t compare yourself to others it’s hard not to feel envious at other people’s achievements sometimes, but it’s important to remember that their successes are not your failures...”
“tip 10: take a deep breath ...don’t let anger get the better of you...” 🧘♀️
“tip 15: relax with a good book a great way to unwind is to sit down with a good book...” 📚 😍
“it doesn’t matter how slowly you go, so long as you don’t stop.”
My cousin got me this book because I apparently need to learn to take it easy... So I read it in one sitting. Brian the Sloth has some good advice, though I must say I'm a little concerned about the fact that he doesn't have any source of income. I'm not sure how he financially supports some of his serious chilling, particularly the vacation part. Aside from that, he seems to have a very nice life, but it takes him a while to get through his to-do lists. I think I could get through all 20 steps in less than 24 hours if I set my mind to it.
Some really useful tips on staying calm, a quick and easy read and great guide on taking it easy. I love the awesome illustrations and the fact that I can reread it as needed, for a quick pick me up. The light hearted feel of this book and humour throughout also kept me entertained. I would definitely recommend and will be reading again!
I mean, it's not high literature, and anxiety also isn't truly that easy to get rid of. But I didn't mind this one occasional buy to have it on my shelf for future rough days. The humor is just enough without trying too hard. I actually look forward to giving it to someone who might need a perk one day.
And, of course, SLOTHS. How could you really hate it.
I mean... I got it in my stocking a few years ago and I figured I should give it a quick read before I sent it to the charity shop. A lot of the tips in there were quite obvious, not sure how online dating is going to help me relax though? The pictures were cute at least, I'm just not really sure what the point is.
This is my sister’s book and I originally planned to rate and review it here as a silly joke…but honestly it has a lot of good advice and reminders! The perfect little book to read at the start of a new year too! And the illustrations had me laughing out loud (literally!). Watch out because I might be packing this in my suitcase…
A cute little story featuring your guide “Brian,” a sloth who helps instruct you on ways to lighten up, let go, and be relaxed. A fun little book with adorable illustrations on each page that will sometimes even make you laugh out loud. A perfect gift for the over achiever in your life that needs to tone it down a bit.
This is a fun little book, it's very short and obviously not very serious. I read it a couple of times over a week or two, just to distract myself from work stress. It's the kind of book you gift someone for no reason or just keep around to look at sometimes, the illustrations are cute.
I had so much fun reading this book! It's humorous and so relatable. I'm not sure if the author is being sarcastic as she takes you on a journey to serious chilling, but I like to think it really can be that easy.
